Think I'll stick with £1.50/kg
McCann's is very good, much more flavorful than Bob's Red Mill (best scottish) stuff.
I was really disappointed when I tried Bobs Red Mill version and glad I tried this. I eat this with organic soy milk topped with organic cinnamon, raisin and brown sugar, and it's very nice.
Only thing, McCann's is it's very expensive.
What are you on about, or maybe, what are you on? What makes you think Bob's Red Mill is Scottish? You're a few thousand miles out.
Good oatmeal, and there's nothing wrong with Hamlyn's, doesn't need butter or oil (the thought makes my stomach heave) to bring the flavour out. All you need is a pinch of salt.
Your suggested recipe will make half decent, but expensive wallpaper paste. If you're going to cook oatmeal to death, you're as well starting with porridge oats.
((Fourth review from McCann's site
Very Good, but expensive

Feel better now you've gotten all that off your chest do you? Good; well done you. Great investigative skills and great example of how to needlessly inject hostility and condescension into an innocuous thread about food. Truly wonderful stuff.

I used to order this from iherb... until I realised it didn't agree with me but have to say it's the only porridge I have ever enjoyed. Don't forget that you'll get hit with a customs charge too.

so why is Irish oats better than any other.

Like the cars, every one can take you from A to B, but not all are like Mercedes.
