My mobile contract is up so I decided to switch to sim only deal as the phone is still perfect.

Looked on the website and it was £20.99, (still cheaper than what I was paying)

When I phoned he said I can do better than that as I was a loyal customer and gave me :
800 mins
1GB Data
3000 Texts
3000 Virgin Minutes

All this for £5.43 inc VAT a month.

He also emailed me the info in case there is any problem with my bill.

Haven't seen anything cheaper than that.

This is a great deal. For the haters about the "Crappy Network" - Virgin rides on T-Mobile, and has a sharing agreement with Orange. So you have the whole of the T-mobile AND Orange network, and now you have 3G on both networks too. Virgin to Virgin works brilliantly if you get your partner on the same deal. I work away from home, so Virgin to Virgin minutes are ideal. Oh - and Virgin enable tethering with iPhone too - at no extra charge. Not so crappy after all.....

oh good. another retention deal that most people aren't eligible for as they use a system to determine what LOYALTY deal you can have, cold

    Hot deal

To answer the iPhone question... Yes virgin sims work in Unlocked or T-Mobile iPhones as the virgin network uses T-Mobiles coverage.

I'm on a similar deal I get all that but 400 mins and I pay £8.43 a month, still a bargain

You need to barter them down or threaten to leave

Ashy2012 - Virgin are a virtual network. Their underlying network uses T-Mobile. T-Mobile and Orange recently reached a roaming agreement. Virgin mobile now has access to the entire T-Mobile AND Orange Network giving the coverage of both networks. Mobile anytime minutes don't care what your friends are using. Inclusive minutes are just that - any to any network. You don't have to have a Virgin phone, so you aren't limited to their PAYG phones. TV service is irrelevant in this discussion.

What is the coverage like on Virgin nowadays?

I have this deal on 3 family phones only it's £6.43 for each sim. Only problem is Virgin constantly screw up the payments and charge the full amount every now and then so we have to watch them carefully.
Having said that its a great deal. We have had no problems with coverage (Tamworth).

By the way is this a 30 day rolling contract like mine?

Coverage is good, I get problems in the house tho but its the same with all networks.

It's the 30 Day rolling contract.

Wish I'd done it 3 months earlier, I would have saved myself 75 quid.

Amazing bargain that one.I find coverage good these days(in York) think they are using Orange network as well now as this sometimes shows up. Had my daughters contract capped and the minimum cap was £50, although this was last year.

Surely the sim would work in any Virgin compatible mobile ?

Well I asked when they were getting the HTC One X and he said June because they aren't getting Micro Sims until June. I guess They will start issuing them then so you should be able to use them in the Iphone, unless Apple have some way of stopping you, which wouldn't surprise me.

Just called Virgin asking same deal, but woman on the phone said they dont have any plan offering 800 minutes. they do have 600 minutes or 1250 after that, nothing in between. Cold for me!

Virgin are doing the micro sims soon enough as well.

HOT from me... I've been with virgin for years now. Always worth phoning them up every now & again to try improve your package.
On the whole I've found their customer service to be great.. on the odd occasion you get someone who you're not getting along with, just hang up & call back. Over the years I've had enough "freebies" off them to more than compensate any inconvenience.
Since T Mobile have linked with Orange to become "Everything Everywhere" signal has been great too

    My 2 cents!

I am on virgin mobile and have been a happy customer for at least 6 years. I use my contract sim in an iphone that I got off ebay and has worked just fine.

However - I got a text maybe 2 months ago to tell that in the event that I lose signal to virgin I will go over to orange to maintain service.
    Normal texts fine

    - iphone to iphone (imessage, which is free) is delayed or swaps to standard messages, which would be ok however I text my American friends using imessage knowing its free. It dropping to standard messages is annoying and costs me money.

    - I dont always get data coming through when switched to Orange. I contacted Virgin who told me to manually select T mobile as a preferred network provider in my settings. Its better but still not perfect. I was actually happier without the Orange assistance.

I am due to renew in July, for the first time I am considering switching network, I want me data on the go not when Orange wants to let me use my Virgin account!

has anyone else managed to get this deal yet? I've only been with virgin mobile for a few months but have been with virgin broadband for ages. does that count? :P But using a virgin sim in an iphone is not a problem. settings are updated automatically and i bought a microsim cutter off ebay for a little over a quid so there's my microsim problems solved forever.

Just ring them up and say your interested, just say a friend of yours has the above deal with them (be even better if you could get his/her name so they can check it) but if not say you have home phone/broadband/tv etc...

Yes I am not a complete spaz, it works fine when im on the virgin network but when it jumps to Orange its stops working[/quote]

Try ringing virgin tech service as your account may not be set up correctly to use both networks
