for value this is one of the best phones I've ever owned, and I have the s7 and the 1+3T to compare it to. I did spend time disabling apps I don't use and greenifying all I could. Left stock, unrooted and BL locked, now running nougat. Did change the launcher to Nova though. Heat added.
Better than s7 and 1+3T! Really?
What do you mean by greenifying?

They didn't say it was better than the S7 or 1+3T - they said better value.

Greenifying is pruning the installed apps and killing un-needed processes to try and get as much battery life as possible. EMUI (like many Chinese devices) automatically suspends a lot of processes in the background by default to do a similar type of thing.

Fair point.

I knew what you meant and after switching to Google Now Launcher, yes it does.
It changes the launcher only. The rest of the system and notifications centre is remains EMUI, which is quite a lot different to stock Android.

Sorry, forgot about that. I think these bits are not a huge problem though.

Yes it's unlocked and it takes a nano-sim, so the same as every iPhone after the iPhone 5.

Is there a difference in spec to the one available from Three for £200? Otherwise why take the risk of importing one for the sake of £16?
vMall are a europe company I think, so shouldnt be any import fees/VAT

Moto G4 comparison wannabe according to the reviews.
Just get a G5 from O2 and save yourself £60 in the process!
This doesn't compare. It's got 32Gb Rom, Dual SIM, you can't compate
If it had Kirin 960 inside with cat 12 Lte, it woudld have been ok. It has only Kirin 955 inside with cat 6 lte speed. Qualcomm Socs have much faster /better Lte modem.

If you ever find a phone with the specs you mention for only £199 then please post it here because I want to buy it!

The Lenovo deal sounds perfect then? 3 day battery apparently.
Now gone up to £319.90

cracking deal(imho) although I have set my limit for my next phone at £200...need to replace an aging z1

You may want to consider a Lenovo P2 then - specs comparison HERE. According to their battery endurance ratings, the P2 should give your 2-3 times the battery life!

Why would anyone get this over a P9??

The 3 reasons I can think of is dual-SIM capability (UK P9s are single-SIM only), 1Gb extra RAM & presence of an IR-port - specs comparison HERE

For £230 (if the offer returns), I'd definitely choose the better-built/more premium P9 over this.

Im not sure if i should wait for the P10 to drop a bit...

The only way it's going to drop enough for me to consider a P10 is if O2 stock it & do a good discount via their Refresh offers.

Have some heat. Why don't you post the amazon.fr deal? It's cheaper still so should get toasty. :)

I just checked and it was €354.99 which is roughly £311 so not really that much cheaper?

Been waiting for the Honor 8 to drop back to the old Amazon price for months :(
ivotedyes
what makes the P9 a better overall phone than the Honor 8 ? Wrong!

If you're prepared to pay £90 extra for 1Gb extra ram & dual-SIM capability, but poorer SoC, poorer build quality (glass vs metal), more easily broken/less durable (glass vs metal) & poorer dual-camera implementation - then go for it.
Crossbow
If anyone's considering this but not in a hurry, wait for the excellent P9 O2 offer to return - better phone overall for £90 lower: Huawei P9 £229.99 at O2 - only downside for some could be that it's a Refresh deal.

Even when not on offer, it's over £40 cheaper (than this Honor 8 deal) at £277.99: https://www.o2.co.uk/shop/tariff/huawei/p9/?productId=073bae3f-cb9b-4a68-8932-7f17448f79bf&planId=&contractType=paymonthly

looks quite decent, only negatives from my pov would be the plastic on the back and thickish bezels
It's metal on the back.
Edit: Not sure why the tech specs say no NFC, I've seen screenshots in reviews that show the NFC icon in the status bar.
It's a production model so whatever is showed does not mean it will be in the actual retail models, pretty much every reviewer are stating no NFC. Unless its a big mistake from the Huawei, assume it has no NFC.

Apparently, the U.S. version of this Phone has no NFC, BUT, the UK version of this same Phone does have the NFC built-in to it.

2 versions of same thing? (confusing!), not so straightforward, right .....
What's the options on the 6X now it's been out for a several weeks?

HI Which one is better honor 6x or P9 lite.

Thanks

My wife's arrived yesterday. Yes it does come with a screen protector quite nicely applied actually. Not a real edge to edge one but covers all the screen so very useful given I did not have time to order any. In the hand it's a lovely device actually. Will get it setup this afternoon and test NFC and Gyro.

Interested to hear your thoughts

I have the P9 Lite and the Honor 6X. Bought both in the same week. My wife has the 6X. The P9 Lite does not have a gyro, but it does have NFC. The 6X has both. They are physically very similar, the honor 6X being a tiny bit bigger. There is not much in it between them in day to day use, but the 6X has a dual camera which is supposedly much better as one of the lenses is dedicated to capturing finer detail or something like that. I can't remember.

The P9 Lite only has 16gb storage which is a bit limiting. You can set the SD card to be default storage, but it will only move a portion of some apps to it I gather. Also, SD card will be slower than phone storage (slightly) even with the best SD cards. Would you notice it in apps? Dunno. Maybe.

The Honor 6X is better on paper in terms of specs in a few areas, but really, they are both brand new phones and therefore feel quite snappy especially since they are not clogged up with cached data etc yet. The finger print reader on both is amazing. Instantly unlocks the phone and makes me now not miss the double tap of the LG series to wake. The finger print reader on the back I personally prefer as your finger naturally falls there when you take it out your pocket. Ok, so people used to front finger print reader unlock will tell you it's better as you can unlock when it is sat on the desk....yes....but how often do you use a phone with it sat on a surface? For me, I use it whilst holding more so.

I'm just waffling to be honest. They are both good. Is the 6X worth an extra £60...probably not, but then I have not intensively used them yet. The pics on both phones look really good to me. If anything, the 6X looks a bit more like a fitler was applied out of the box. i.e. Less natural. Look a bit more vivid.

I call BS. I did it earlier, waited as clock counted down. clicked buy as soon as reached zero and website crashed.
This is vmall. Not a scam but only one product at each time so nigh on impossible.

Well my Blue H8 arrived yesterday.

First impressions:

- Beautifully made, the glass back is as stunning as is talked about
- It really is super slippy; I bought one of the official PC cases and it is not making any difference
- The fingerprint sensor is blazingly fast
- Screen is lovely (in comparison to my Nexus 4) and the phone does zip along without any issues
- It is taking me a little while to get used to the EMUI, but there are some nice touches (still prefer stock android) that make it interesting
- Battery life is nagging a little. It had about 50% charge and while it was used heavily all evening I was noticing the percentage drop quicker than I had expected. Need to get my head around the battery manager.
- I've uninstalled or disabled most of the 3rd party apps. Once I am 100% happy with the phone I'll follow more of the Paul O'Brien 'how to' guide: http://www.modaco.com/forums/topic/377633-guide-how-to-make-your-honor-8-more-like-stock-android/

Hope this helps someone - all in all, a lovely phone and mega bargain purchase if you got it at £270 like I did!

This or BB Priv for same price mmmmmm :|

Priv is 2K AMOLED screen, slightly bigger screen, has more MP in the camera, has a physical keyboard, slightly bigger battery, closer to stock-Android experience

Honor 8 has a slightly better processor, more RAM, came out in 2016

Both run Android 6, expandable storage, both batteries are non removable

Take your pick.

For what its worth I'm considering both devices too, not a Blackberry fanboy.

I was too, but decided for the Honor 8. It's never so more likely to be supported longer (that said the priv is kept updated very well) honor/Huawei are doing much better with updates recently. The priv is more flimsy due to the nature of the sliding keyboard (but I do like the keyboard) and has a plastic cover for the rear camera, so very scratch prone. Battery life in the priv is quite average I've heard, the Honor 8 is pretty good.

That said, the prove was £400 when I looked, I would have probably gone for the priv for £300.

Ticked all the feature boxes for me...
What were those may I know?
SD slot, fingerprint scanner, 1080P, 4GB RAM, gorilla glass, 5+ inch, type-c USB, octo-core, android N and dual-band WiFi.
Bear in mind that the USB-C is still only USB2 compliant so no super high speed data transfer. A bit odd if you ask me...
Its more for the reversible connector and the fast charging but I agree
I concur, although the latter can be achieved with microusb (Galaxy S6/7)) anyway but I do believe that USB-C is the future, just wish OEMs would implement it properly!
I'm hoping that Honor will drop the price to match the OP3; there's not a lot between the two justify a rather large mark up.
Personally I feel it should be £300, the OP3 is slightly better on paper. Just wish I had bought the P9 when it was available for under £280 but stupidly I waited for the launch of Honor 8.
Actually, it's worth waiting to see what the new Nexus brings and prices are only going to go down...

Thanks for coming back. I had read other reviews that said the buttons are a bit 'tenuous' and so long as the sound is good enough for a conversation, I will be happy enough. The plan is to replace my Moto G2 and I am looking forward to having a faster phone with a bit more onboard storage.
Sorry for the late reply !
Phone is excellent ! massive difference over my old Moto G, nice smooth internet, works as it should !
Couple of bad points, The speaker volume on videos doesn't seem very loud and the feel of the buttons are a bit cheap.
Overall excellent phone

If i buy from Honor on Amazon, do I automatically qualify for this deal too?
So you have to buy the phone first and this is then free (_;)
"There is no such thing as a free lunch." <= ancient adage is obvious but other than being cynical but how else can OP tell folks on HOTUKDEALS of this facility otherwise?
glad you agree it's not a freebie...... see some of the other posts that by your understanding would be free lunch (_;)

Thankyou. My phone and X-men bundle arrived today. Not unboxed the phone yet. The bundle looks nice. Maybe I will sell it on ebay.
Hi,
How is the phone and hows the bundle
The phone is good. Very similar to the Elephone P8000.
The bundle came half complete so I contacted them to complete the bundle. Bundle on second look is very cheap. Not worth the asking price. If it was £50 cheaper then its worth the price.
ah thanks got the phone with selfie stick but the battery is not that good :( phone is nice

Had a number of phones recently. G3, nexus 6, z3 and a g4. Each time I go back to the honor 7. A very slick phone. Fast brilliant screen. Only downside is I have still not found a good case and you can't have dual sim with memory card unless you hack a sim. Apart from that the good battery and quick interface when you have added another launcher more than makes up for it.
i'm thinking of getting this are you able to check if zen ui launcher works with it, i dont think it will as didnt work wiht p8 lite but worth asking.

is this much better than the honor 5x? I can find both second hand locally
honor 7 is £30 more phone and charger only, the honor 5x comes with box and accessories.
not sure which to go for.

Would probably need to go the China direct route and, of course, that isn't for everybody what with the inherent risks associated with such a move. But Xiaomi in particular produce phones with comparable/better spec than the Honor 7 for quite a bit less outlay.
I have the Xiaomi mi4c and regret buying it. Xiaomi force you to use their inferior apps instead of the ones you want to use. They are a real disappointment acting like apple do. If I wanted to be treated so badly I would have bought an iPhone.
Do they??
Of course they don't. I had a Mi4c, until it was stolen recently.
Firstly, you can install any apps you like and use them instead of Xiaomi's versions.
Secondly, you can install custom launchers if you don't like the MIUI skin.
Thirdly, you can just use a different ROM like Cyanogenmod if you really hate MIUI.
I was really impressed by the build quality and overall design. My Redmi Note 3 Pro should be delivered tomorrow! :3

I am wondering if you actually tried running a launcher on your Xiaomi phone. Custom launchers do not work properly on my Mi4c. I tried Nova and Apex launchers but the dialing pad does not work when the launchers are running. This is done by Xiaomi as I get a message saying "permission denied". This is just an example. There are many examples of these kind of restrictions on this phone.

As for ROMs, I never needed to install ROMs on my previous phone, a Nexus 4, and i didn't buy a phone to mess about with ROMs. Most people don't have to install ROMs to get their phone to work properly. Why do i have to? It's a load of rubbish expecting people to do that.

Malware and adware is also present on my phone. Never had a problem with other Chinese devices I've bought from China but always the complaints on the internet are about Xiaomi.

I had high hopes for this company but I will make a prediction that they will never be big in Europe or America. They can stay in China where expectations are lower.

loved my Nexus 4 because it had miui rom port, each to there own..

Yes, they do.

In certain circumstances, yes I am sure. Try using a different dialing pad app for example. You can use one but Xiaomi harass you with messages every time you try calling someone. No such messages come up when you use their own dialing app. That's just one example of Xiaomi being idiots. There are many other examples.

EDIT
