Given the currently high prices of external hard drives this seems a good deal - currently 165.71 at Amazon. I bought one today from the Lincoln branch where they had about 10 on display.

POS number is 679925 , model WDBAAF0015H, so you should be able to check easily enough.

Yes it does - you have to hold it in for a while for it to action (like computer power supply in that respect).

Just powered up and firmware updated from 2.03 to 2.18, then disabled the VCD software on it. Seems to be nice and quiet and the visual indication of space used is a plus.

Looking at the Dixons thread for the 1TB drive it's also showing on their site for 69.99 (Edit - but now showing as out of stock there)

does it go into a 'proper' standby when not used? I've had a few cheap ones just literally cut off and after a month the drive needs to be plugged into a pc and then put back in the caddy due to the 'cut off' rather than standby mode.

It could be used for Mac and PC backups if reformatted to Fat32 (along with its associated 4Gig file size limitation).

I wouldn't bother. I rang comet - at 10per min - who said they don't sell it, certainly not at that price.
