Spent about 3 hours doing this ahaha, though might have missed the odd here and there and this only looks at sets that retail over £45 in the UK (mostly over $50 USD). Some smaller sets have seen increases though.

I just phoned the Cardiff Lego store. The person I spoke to was extremely helpful and he advised that there will be both the cosmic cardboard and children’s amusement park from the 16th. The thresholds for the cosmic cardboard is £160 and the children’s amusement park is £90 and both GWP aren’t tied to any specific sets He agreed that the thresholds for both GWP were very high (edited)

Hey everyone, I just tried my luck on the Monese app with a guessed promo code (guess based on previous codes) to see whether they have any discounted gift cards available and it turns it they do

I thought I’d post on here for my fellow AFOL’s and not post a deal for all to see on the main site as it gives you guys a chance to grab some before they run out. I’m sure someone else will post it later but for now here are the details:

It’s 20% off supermarket gift cards (Asda, Morrisons, M&S, Sainsbury’s and Iceland) which can then be used to purchase other branded gift cards at self checkout in Asda, Morrisons and Sainsbury’s. The promo codes are:

    MAY50 - £50 gift card for £40
    MAY100 - £100 gift card for £80
    MAY200 - £200 gift card for £160
    MAY400 - £400 gift card for £320

DON’T FORGET YOU HAVE TO TRANSFER THE MONEY INTO YOUR MONESE ACCOUNT FIRST FOR THE PROMO CODE TO WORK

For further info on how it works, see the previous deal here:

    hotukdeals.com/share-deal/3927533

It would be nice if we can keep it just on this group for now and refrain from posting it as a deal on the main site until the end of the day at least (if no one else posts it before then) as the vouchers tend to sell out fairly quickly and I’d like it if people on here could have a fair chance at getting them first. Been summarising the offers and codes for the May 4th promos (starting around midnight on May 1st) for my own benefit so also wanted to share here.

These are the GWPs I'm aware of
    lego.com/en-…403 - purchases over £70

    lego.com/en-…531 - purchases over £160

    lego.com/en-…495 - purchases over £40

I could not get this one to work anymore for a free coffee cart but might work for some - vouchercodes.co.uk/leg…592

    (Updated - 17/05/2022)

With 8 6 months to the end of the year retirements I am giving a list of sets to look out for which are rumoured to retire soon.

So here are some popular sets to watch, when they retire they likely will go up a bomb in the after market

    - Due to retire End of 2022 - 6 months to go until official retirement

    IDEAS

Central Perk, International Space Station, 123 Sesame St, Seinfeld, NASA Apollo Saturn V.

IDEAS sets tend to fly off shelves in their last few months of sale, and then tend to bomb in the aftermarket, though Central Perk is likely to be one not to worry about much due to its high accessibility and long shelf life, plus its one you can wait for a good deal on pre-retirement.

    Star Wars

75252 UCS Imperial Star Destroyer, 75305 Scout Trooper Helmet, 75277 Boba Fett Helmet, 7306 Imperial Probe Droid and 75296 Darth Vader Meditation Chamber

All UCS or 18+ sets which are likely to be popular collectable post retirement and likely will be silly money next year.

75317 The Mandalorian & The Child Brickheadz, they are cute and cheap and who doesn't like Brickheadz.

    Marvel & DC

76205 Gargantos Showdown - new 2022 set already due to retire after a year

76200 Bro Thor's New Asgard, a popular and hard to find set due to retire as well
    Carnage helmet

Classic TV Series and regular Batman Cowl sets
Classic TV series Batmobile (a very hard to obtain set)
1989 Batwing, a Smyths exclusive you might want to jump on

    Harry Potter

Large scale Hogwarts Castle due to go, so might be a big purchase to jump on sooner than later
Hogwarts Express, no surprise been out for a good few years now.
Attack on the Burrow, Smyths exclusive hard to find set

    Technic

Will it actually retire?, Bugatti Chiron is finally due to go, or is it?

    42096 Porsche 911 RSR from 2019
    The amazing Land Rover Defender
    Jeep Wrangler and McLaren Senna

    Creator Expert

This years modular to retire is surprisingly not the Assembly Square but instead 2020's Bookshop
Elf Club House, Fiat 500, Old Trafford, Camp Nou, Queer Eye, T2 Camper and NASA Apollo Lander

I expect the Bookshop, Elf Clubhouse and NASA Apollo Lander to be harder to find towards the end of the year, I suspect Queer Eye will be one hard for LEGO to offload, not been overly popular.

    Other Themes

Biggest and saddest retirement in my eyes, 2016's Disney Castle is due to retire
Art Disney Mickey Mouse, Hogwarts Crests and Art Project due to go as well
Chinese New Year sets for 2022 are due to go too, also 2020's Christmas Wreath will make a final return for 2022.
    Entire 2021 Speed Champions wave

That is just a run through of the significant retirements due for 2022, might have missed out on one or two. I suggest if you want any of these act fast, no later than Black Friday for sure, but for some maybe even late Summer latest, such as Disney Caslte and 1989 Batwing. (edited)

Update from HUKD on the recent changes (a glimmer of hope we may get the old style replies back):

    "Hi everyone

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to give their feedback since this release. We've spent the weekend and this morning going through it - and I first want to thank @Sigma and the other Community Support team for spending time from their bank holiday to respond and let you know our thoughts and approach on this topic.

As has been mentioned before, this change was the result of user surveys, testing and actually some test runs in other Pepper countries. We genuinely do not want or try to release anything that we think is going to cause frustration, a worse user experience or anything of that nature. In fact the aims here were pretty simple - make comments as a whole easier to navigate, and hopefully encourage more comments. There's no incentive for us to launch something that annoys, makes the site harder or worse to use or creates knock on effects of stress or higher workload for the staff here

While all that is true, it doesn't mean every change lands perfectly - in fact that is rare. There is the chance of bugs (however hard we test something, this is true across the web) and there are some of those here - they are already being looked at and fixed (though the long UK bank holiday weekend, coupled with the fact our teams in Berlin have a Bank Holiday today have stretched that process - so apologies on the delays).

But there is also the chance that a change isn't right or needs significant revamp. I can't commit to an answer on that for this change now, as we need to speak with the product development teams, share the feedback here in detail and come up with a plan. As mentioned, the feedback here directly contrasts with the pre-launch feedback and data, so it will be one we need to puzzle through. I absolutely recognise many points here as valid though - one I personally hadn't seen clearly before is about the difficulty in seeing a new reply under a comment I had previously read but not replied to myself. Useful comments could easily be missed this way.

So again, thanks for the feedback and apologies for the frustration both from bugs and the overall change. If you can give us a couple of days to come up with an action plan, we'll get back to you here with some updates when we think we have the right next move" (edited)

Fyi. The speculated sticker shields for the new castle set are probably wrong thankfully. Stonewars have checked the parts on pick a brick which shows all parts apart from the printed ones. There is no sign of the plain shields which would have been needed for the stickers. So looking likely they will be printed. Fingers crossed.

Sorry if this has been mentioned before, but Nintendo are doing a prize draw to win the Adventures with Mario Starter Course and LEGO Super Mario 64 Question Mark Block. Competition ends 23.6.22. Each entry requires 10 platinum points which are quite easy to get. 5 winners will receive both sets.

So I’ve finally had my first bad experience with Amazon Warehouse. Bought the Seinfeld set for £46 listed ‘Like new: box may be damaged’
    46633031-CB1zs.jpg

It arrived and the box wasn’t sealed, and I opened it to see this…
    46633031-vKHL9.jpg
I almost fell over in shock. Upon further inspection I noticed 2 figures were missing, aswell as a lot of pieces of the set. There weren’t any of the red masonry bricks for the stand up scene which made me realise a lot more was missing. I didn’t bother counting the pieces, as they smelt funny and were covered in hairs.
The instructions were fairly battered and soiled.
    46633031-VSK3y.jpg
There was a green bicycle in the box, and I’m almost certain that’s not in the actual set!
    46633031-UB7gl.jpg
I complained to Amazon and they offered 50% off but I decided to send it back as I wanted nothing to do with the set.
This experience has definitely made me more cautious about using the warehouse.

LEGO price increase from September 2022: prices for over 100 sets will increase

List of sets that are getting more expensive
In the table below, we have listed all sets for which we know so far that their price will increase from September 2022. There you will find, among other things, the old RRP, the new RRP and the percentage price increase.

In total, we know of currently 105 sets whose RRP will increase. Please note that so far these have only been sets from the standard and specialist retail ranges . However, we firmly expect that there will also be price increases, especially for the expensive, sometimes particularly popular exclusive sets. It is striking that the list already contains a relatively large number of sets that are particularly relevant for the affluent adult audience: around a quarter of the sets are marked "18+".
    47543708_1.jpg47543708_1.jpg
Unclear situation for the international market
The price changes we consider here refer to the German market. Due to the harmonization in Western Europe that LEGO is aiming for, we assume that prices will rise to the same extent, at least for the other countries that LEGO internally counts as Western Europe – because if not, the harmonization will expire again after only nine months.

We do not have any data on price changes for the international market . However, we assume that prices outside of Europe will also be subject to comparable changes. We made a corresponding request to LEGO today. We refrained from an earlier request in the run-up to the publication of our article after recent bad experiences. LEGO has repeatedly published responses to our press inquiries first via the LEGO Ambassador Network, which we do not have access to as we are not Recognized LEGO Fan Media.

This is how LEGO justified the price increase
LEGO itself states that it has worked to keep prices "at a stable level" despite "continuingly high cost increases over the last two years". Now “extraordinary cost increases in the areas of energy, logistics and raw materials” have meant that prices can no longer be maintained and the price list now has to be adjusted. This is how LEGO put it in an e-mail to dealers, which is available to our editorial team.

    A first assessment
It is difficult to assess this price increase, because there is no question that increases in price are always negative from the point of view of fans and customers and never a reason to be happy. However, it must be noted that LEGO is far from alone with these price increases and many other manufacturers (also in the toy industry) have taken similar and sometimes much more drastic steps in recent months. It is no secret that energy prices in particular have risen everywhere due to the current world situation, and the prices for plastic granules have also risen sharply in the last two years. This has a corresponding effect on the costs in almost all areas: The inflation rate was last in May at 7.9 percent compared to the same month last year. (edited)

Making record profits but continuing to put prices up, this will price out consumers eventually - one of the big downfalls of Lego. Especially with the rumoured recession in the UK fast approaching.

When I'm searching for my own prices I check 3 places depending on how much of a hurry I'm in

    1) Quickest - Brickset
    brickset.com/set…tle

Type in the set number in the top right when page appears scroll down the RHS until you see Bricklink (can sometimes take 10-15 additional secs to appear)

    47912174-NmC2h.jpg
    2) Medium - eBay
    ebay.co.uk/sch…e=1

    Search for "lego set number"
Scroll down left hand side selecting filters Item Location "UK Only" or further afield if you want "New" or "Used" and then right at the bottom of the filter sold items.
Ensure it's sorted by be "Ended Recently"

    47912174-szhhT.jpg
    3) Longer - BrickLink
    bricklink.com/v2/…2-1

Search for the set number. Click price guide. Search previous 6 months of BrickLink sales.

I know its only the 7th day of the year so far but better to plan your purchases for 2022 now and bag the retiring sets on the best bargains

Every single LEGO set retiring in 2022 – January update (brickfanatics.com)

Key sets I think many here will want for their own collections: (remember at this time all subject to change throughout the year so nothing is set and stone)

    75277 Boba Fett Helmet
    75315 Imperial Light Cruiser

    21318 Tree House
    21324 123 Sesame Street
    21326 Winnie the Pooh

10266 NASA Apollo 11 Lunar Lander

10291 Queer Eye - The Fab 5 Loft

71741 Ninjago City Gardens (sad to see this one go quite soon)

    40549 Demogorgon & Eleven

    76171 1989 Batwing
    76188 Classic TV Series Batmobile
76239 Batmobile Tumbler - Scarecrow Showdown

All Luigi's Mansion Super Mario sets
    All 2021 Speed Champion sets
    All VIDIYO sets
    All 2021 Art Sets
All 2021 Mickey & Friends sets
    All Minions sets
Both 2022 Chinese New Year sets

So plenty of stuff leaving us this year, best to buy sooner than later specially on the expensive direct to consumer and hard to find sets. (edited)

GWP Info that may be of interest
So I had a really interesting conversation with one of the Managers at the LEGO store the other day. One of the things they shared was they believe the GWPs are going to be more targeted this year. Apparently the Chinese New Year GWP will be restricted to purchases over £85 that include a Chinese set, which is different to prior years. This follows similar to the first GWP this year where you need to spend £40 on City or Friends to get the City or Friends poly. Interesting to see how many sets they limit throughout the year or if this is a January trial.

Everyone, be on guard on the Lego website, I just noticed some sets have gone UP in price and some have gone down. Example, the big Millenium Falcon has been increased to £700 now, while the smaller version has gone down to £140.

Assembly Square has gone up quite a lot from £180 to £230 (edited)

I always struggle to find that?

Search for a set on eBay (I use the app as it's easy) then click filter at the top, then show more and tick on sold items

Built the Vespa yesterday. It was an OK build, some sections could have been designed better. For example the front mudguard is in two parts which does not have a pin or two that join them together perfectly.

And here is a comparison to the fiat in blue this time:

    And the baby vespa

    And the Ducati

    And the Harley

Lastly, all three side by side

I've been doing my daily browsing of the latest MOCs on Rebrickable and found a few things that might be of interest to the group here.

With the recent announcement of three new Lego Star Wars diorama sets, I've found a MOC by Breaaad called Endor Bunker (Diorama Collection - Episode 6) which I though was interesting and wouldn't look out of place with the three official Lego diorama sets. The doors on the bunker actually open as well, which is quite cool.

For those of you into the LEGO Botanical Collection found some interesting MOCs created by DoctorOctoroc. These would sit quite well against the Birds of Paradise and the recently announced LEGO Orchid and LEGO Succulents sets.

I have seen videos of people with Lego trains setup in a city environment that go round the track and then stop at stations, etc and was wondering how it was done. Found this MOC by osna_wolle that uses the Color & Distance Sensor (88007) from the Powered Up range and enabled the train speed, etc to be controlled and automated. Love this idea.

Previously I posted a few mods that could be made to the Grand Boutique Hotel. One of the mods by Fanpeixi was to create a raised dome. Now this designer has created a MOC using two sets to create a larger hotel which I think looks very impressive and probalby should have been how it was originally released by Lego. I will definitely will be building this.

    Have it under contents

Make sure it is endorsed - if you try to claim and they see more than £5000 of one item, they will classify as specialist collection and reject claim. It is in T and C. There argument is that your house was high risk due to this. And of course they are trying it on. I had this with a simple dvd collection in 2001 and have always checked since. Best to check with your company. I have specialist policy for my Lego. Just my two cents,
