Sky Sports will be free to all Virgin Media TV customers for one weekend this month.

From 6am on the 24th September through to 6am on the 26th September Sky Sports 1-4, Sky Sports News and Sky Sports HD 1 & 2 (HD versions only available to customers with an HD box) will be free to all TV customers.

The free weekend will include the following LIVE football games:

Man City vs. Everton (Sat 12:45pm)
QPR vs. Aston Villa (Sun 4pm)
Cardiff vs. Leicester (Sun 1:15pm)
Dunfermline vs. Rangers (Sat 12:45pm)
Plus three La Liga games (fixtures TBA)

AFAIK the free weekend is available on Virgin Media only (not Sky).

I've posted this in the deals section as you obviously need to have Virgin in the first place to qualify. Which equates to a "spend".

For more details see the September issue of the Electric newsletter.

Whatever way you may want to look at it it still requires a SPEND. Which … Whatever way you may want to look at it it still requires a SPEND. Which the last time I checked the forum rules qualifies postings of it's nature as a DEAL. As for your daft comment about them "always doing free weekends when **** matches are on". What exactly do you expect to see? The "big 4" all playing each other or something? If I remember correctly when Sky or ESPN have offered free Sports weekends to their customers in the past they've done it when there's been no Premier League matches on whatsoever. The fact that Virgin are offering not one but two free live Premier League games, amongst other matches, featuring the likes of David Silva and the rest of Manchester City's world class stars seems pretty generous to me.

So your "deal" is wanting people to spend about £150 minimum for the privilige of having a weekend of free sky sports?

It doesn't require a spend. IT'S FREE to existing customers. Nobody will subscribe to virgin TV because they are getting that free for a weekend.

If we word this deal "subscribe to Virgin TV for a year and get sky sports free for a weekend" it's a pretty **** deal.

Good freebie for people who have virgin TV, crap for anyone without it.

I've never suggested anybody should take out a subscription just to get a free weekend of Sky Sports. That would ludicrous. However when deals like this have come along in the past they've been posted / moved to the deals section because technically it does require a spend. That's all I'm saying.

You can't get this without paying money to Virgin, so definately a deal rather than a free offer!!:p
Apart from the football, any details on any other sports being shown on the weekend?

This is a bit of a kick in the teeth to actual SKY customers. I haven't experienced a free weekend of sky sports ever , and i have been a customer for 3 years. Oh well heat added as it is a good freebie.

shame it doesn't start on Friday night as Brighton v Leeds is on Sky.
Also only 1 Premier League game on Sunday (QPR v Villa) which is not great

Definitely a good freebie though as I am on the £5.50 basic HD package!
