DHL - Shipment on hold

Argh! Why, I've been all day at home waiting for my new mobile (Xperia Z) just to get this message now. What's strange is that my friend received his though and we ordered within minutes of each other when Sony officially released the Z on their website for purchase. Our items started from the same place and made it to London - Heathrow at the same time yet mine gets updated with shipment on hold, whilst my friend had his delvered at noon. oO

He is located in North London and I'm in East London.

Just me ranting I guess, not really sure what 'shipment on hold' means but I guess they either ran out of time and the driver brought the van back with the items he/she failed to deliver. I even had the text message in the morning stating that I'll have the item delivered today.

Usually means you will get customs charge, but its coming from europe so i dont see why?

on hold - because of the weekend. it will be released on monday. most likely courier had too many packages to deliver that day - happens all the time with yodel and hermes.

People should stop writing scare stories about custom's etc when really … People should stop writing scare stories about custom's etc when really they don't have anymore of a clue than the person asking the question! 'On hold normaly mean's it's in-between or holding for the weekend / holiday etc. If it being held by custom's it should have something saying this or something similar.It will normaly update in a day or two and be delivered as normal, that's all!...

People should stop commenting on two year old threads. that's all!...

Oh don't tell me they don't deliver on Saturday. That might be the reason it has gone on hold, as the next time they start delivering will be Monday. :x

They do not deliver saturdays.

I tell you what you could do, take note of the shipment number and pop along to www.dhl.co.uk/epayments

Pop your number in there and click search, see if there is a charge at all. If yes then you can pay online and it will be delivered monday. If not showing any charge then definitely it is being held for other reasons other than customs duty.

DHL normally send a bill for the customs charge a few weeks later by post. Also If it was held by customs it wouldn't have reached the delivery depot and wouldn't have gone out with the delivery driver.

If you can, your best going to pick it up from the depot.

Yeah I gave them a ring and it seems that the driver just didn't have the time to deliver all items so it has been left in one of their distribution centres (wapping). I was going to go pick it up but they aren't open until Monday so no point. He said the 'shipment on hold' tends to be used when delivery of item will not be done the next day or the day after as is the case as it is the weekend.

hello i send my parcel 08-05-2013 from UK to philippines 11-08-2013 was arrived @ manila philippines but until now ot was on "Shipment on Hold" what does it mean? I thought its only 1-5 working days if u send through DHL.... thank u if u can help me

Nothing, soon as you've paid it will be auto released and on its way to you.

I pay one day and i usually get the shipment the next day. Or if i dont pay DHL bring me the parcel anyway and ask for the payment at the door. Never had a 4 day delay but you cant really include Sat or Sun.
