Get an old Xbox and load XBMC onto it or even use a 360 if you only want to play AVIs

Looking for something a little more compact.

Need something easy like a western digital media streamer thing, except just for .avi

Cheap , small and not power hungry. ( For a little kid's room)

Yeah you can, you'd need to buy an Xbox to USB cable though, that or make your own.

A lot of dvd players now have this feature.

Think i might go for the old xbox. The reviews on that sata are saying the video quality is quite poor.

Take it i can pick up one of those "xbox to usb" cables on ebay?

Thanks for the help

Yeah you can get cheap DVD players that will play AVI files from disc or a USB stick/HDD.

I think Aldi does one for not very much at all.
