Signed the order form and bottled out. Has to be a hatchback!

I think you'll regret that decision... :) I should really update my profile picture.
All build slots are now gone at these prices so not available anymore.
Can anyone recommend direct deals in Manchester. Should I start with Inchcape?
What selections are people putting in there to get it to show the price the OP quoted?

I can understand why, there are much nicer looking estates on the market. The hatchback looks 10x better too IMO, but I still can't wait to take delivery of my R estate :)

I believe this deal expired a few days ago - Vehicle Savers put the price up by about £20 pm.
I wouldn't be able to cover the monthly amount at present, but it's food for thought. I wonder if there are similar deals for the GTD?
loop
Hmm not as expensive as I thought they were. Can you get the monthly amount reduced by paying a higher deposit?

They usually are expensive! Best deal I found just over a month ago was over 9k over 2 years so this is a cracker.

I'm sure you could, or just put the money you would pay the deposit with in a savings account and pay the monthly with that.

Compared to what? Other lease deals currently available for the same car?
Or is it "not that cheap" because you don't want to lease a car and therefore are adding absolutely nothing posting in this thread?
Correct - you can find the same car for less money and more mileage.

Yes what's your point? That's HUKD makes no sense? Because I agree. Posted this out of interest really to see what happens.
Fantasy Deals posted the deal 4 weeks ago.
BuzzDuraband posted it 6 weeks ago.
Fantasy Deals posted it 8 weeks ago.
Same supplier, same price, same deal.
Same great game (_;)
Will it get the same great heat though when it's just a nobody posting it instead? :)
Never mind the heat. In my experience, duplicate posts get deleted. You've been lucky!
I have not been lucky. I don't give a scheet about heat. I posted it really out of interest to see if I could reach the 400 the HUKD shareholders like Buzz + Fantasy who posted it got. And getting close enough which shows perhaps you don't have to be a shareholder to get heat.
PS anyone who knows how HUKD works would know that 'same deals' can be reposted after 2 weeks, its an unwritten rule but a rule non the less.
Deals can be reposted after 4 weeks... so looks like you have been waiting that min time for your post to stay. Don't compare with Buzz or Fantasy, try to find an excellent deal by yourself... at some point

Well its an unwritten rule, hence the frequent confusion. Maybe I just came across it though? But yes it sounds better to make out like I waited 4 weeks just for this moment. PS thanks for the piece of your HUKD wisdom, of great chief-tan oracle of HUKD, I will of course continue to look up to you.

Think you're taking it all a bit too seriously. Heat is random anyway. I've seen two duplicate deals, one goes cold, one gets over 200. Sometimes when a deal starts off in a certain direction, people jump on the bandwagon. Not sure it's anything to do with "personalities", although you do get cold voting when an OP posts arsey comments.
ah, so I'm not the only one who can see the elephant in the room?

I am about to get this deal - but wanted to ask a question of those that have had the deal previously:
If i am going to use the car for just under 10,000 miles for the two year lease - should i pay for the maintenance inclusive option (tyres and servicing) or will most likely return the car before wearing out any tyres or needing to get the car serviced?
Thank you for your advice :)

I get my R serviced at my local dealership because the service pack makes it as cheap as anywhere else, but if it wasn't i'd go elsewhere - dealership technicians are generally poor mechanics, they're part swappers that don't know what's wrong unless the computer tells it.
Dealerships won't give you the Spanish inquisition unless there are obvious signs of neglect/abuse.

It's up to you to prove that the car was serviced with the correct parts and fluids as shown on a detailed invoice by whoever did the service. it's important to mention that if you do not service at a franchised dealer you miss out on Technical Service Updates carried out during franchised services. Manufacturers are not expected to trace the keeper of every car for these and if you miss them your warranty might be voided. You also lose any 'goodwill' outside of the warranty.

Good luck with what ever you choose to do.
m5rcc
monkeyhanger75
They cannot legally blanket void the warranty on the whole car because you didn't get it serviced to their specifications, they can only void the warranty for parts of the vehicle affected by your use of non-specified parts even if they can prove you didn't service to their spec - you don't seem able to grasp this fact.
They can. It's happened on many previous occasions even after the Block Exemption rule came into force.
monkeyhanger75
Burden of proof always lies with the dealership or UK representative of the marque. It is up to them to prove you didn't do things their way, not the other way around if they were going to try and find a way to not honour the warranty.
They can demand you show evidence that it was done to manufacturer standards with the right parts. Remember you are making the claim on the warranty, not the other way round.
monkeyhanger75
You've been a bit light on facts - you initially claimed that the correct brand franchise had to do the service work to keep your warranty and were shown to be wrong and then back-pedaled rapidly when it was pointed out that you were wrong.
I haven't back-pedalled at all. I've always said that a manufacturer WILL void a warranty if they find out you've gone to some random garage that has not followed the correct service procedure and used the correct parts and/or consumables. I've also said that a lease company will have in their T&Cs that you go to a franchise dealer to have it service, as in the end of the day, it's their vehicle and they want to maximise the value of the car when they sell it on.

Remember saying this on page 9?
m5rcc
Answer my question: why would VW UK warrant a vehicle that has been serviced outside their dealer network?
No mention of not following schedule, you initially made the statement that VW could bin your warranty for simply not using their dealership network for servicing.

I get my R serviced at my local dealership because the service pack makes it as cheap as anywhere else, but if it wasn't i'd go elsewhere - dealership technicians are generally poor mechanics, they're part swappers that don't know what's wrong unless the computer tells it.

Also the best part of leasing is you drive it like you don't own it (which you actually don't) so it's more fun :D
that I could enjoy, so all servicing and maintenace is included in the £202 per month deal ?
Yes also includes unlimited fuel and 24 hour access to a chauffeur

They would have a hard time justifying that, and you would almost certainly win if you took them to the small claims court because Kwik Fit didn't use a VAG oil filter when performing an oil change service and your battery failed within warranty. A part's failure unaffected by an unofficial service's scope does not relieve them of their obligations under warranty for that item.
You need to get facts in check: whilst the ‘Block Exemption’ that a manufacturer can’t void a standard three year warranty if you get the car serviced by a non franchised dealer exists, they can demand you show evidence that it was done to manufacturer standards with the right parts.
So the easiest way is to get the car serviced by a franchise. And that can really pay off if the car develops a fault out of warranty because you’ll probably get some goodwill, which is really the manufacturer backing the dealer to conform to the Limitations Act of 1980, that sets out six years as the usual period in which actions for breach of contract.
But, if you’ve had the car serviced by grease monkeys from Kwik-Fit, the manufacturer can claim that the fault was caused by them. If the car is on a long warranty, like five years or more as typified by Toyota or Hyundai, then that is a probably a contract between you and the manufacturer that you get it serviced by his franchises and in return they warrant the car.
There’s obviously a bit of latitude, but you always stand a much better chance against a manufacturer if you have always had the car serviced by the dealers. And in these disputes, you legally have to start with the dealer who supplied the car in the first place, though a dealer who has been regularly servicing it will probably help.

They cannot legally blanket void the warranty on the whole car because you didn't get it serviced to their specifications, they can only void the warranty for parts of the vehicle affected by your use of non-specified parts even if they can prove you didn't service to their spec - you don't seem able to grasp this fact.

Burden of proof always lies with the dealership or UK representative of the marque. It is up to them to prove you didn't do things their way, not the other way around if they were going to try and find a way to not honour the warranty.

A failed rear cluster, battery, shocks, paint defect, interior trim, or indeed any part of the car unaffected by the work that should be conducted during the correct service schedule would have it's warranty intact by the letter of the law.

Goodwill is a whole other kettle of fish and you really shouldn't bank on goodwill gestures given beyond the warranty unless you did stick with the franchised dealer for all your servicing (and even then it is not guaranteed - they are not obliged to give goodwill, they are only obliged to preserve your statutory rights). Goodwill gestures can be very costly as the goodwill usually extends to a large % of the cost of the parts only, so you'll still end up getting hammered by franchised workshop labour costs of £70-100 per hour.

You've been a bit light on facts - you initially claimed that the correct brand franchise had to do the service work to keep your warranty and were shown to be wrong and then back-pedaled rapidly when it was pointed out that you were wrong.

Thats maybe the case however it works on all the items i tried and they cant inflate those prices too much.
I believe that it's ping that have asked American golf to put the price up on g25 irons due to there not selling a lot of g30 or g max irons just what I've been told hope this helps
I'm afraid they have done it with all their iron sets when they brought in the 50% extra trade in promotion . As stated above the other sellers have not put their prices up , so basically if you are not trading in you can get at least £50 off an iron set at American Golf , probably more if you look around and get them to do a price match . You are correct in one way - The G30s are certainly not worth the extra Ping are charging over the G25s.

I've noticed in the last 2 or 3 weeks (since they started their 50% more on trade in promotion ) all their decent iron sets (Ping ,Titleist , Callaway etc ) have gone up by £50 from what they were at the beginning of May . Check out Online golf , Golfworx etc you will get a better deal . For example Ping G25 5-SW £399 at American Golf (was £349 3 weeks ago ) £349 at Online golf and £329 at Golfworx last time I looked . However American Golf do price match so maybe you are not offering low enough and would be better off finding the same clubs cheaper (not difficult ) and get them to price match .

Worth noting drivethedeal discount this car to £16765 (additional £500 of you or a family member own a vw), will this car depreciate by an additional £4276 for 10,000 miles within 2 years? i doubt this, as I am currently looking for a 2nd hand golf nearly new and nothing comes close to £11989 with 10k mileage, more like atleast £14500.
so how exactly has this deal got hot?

eat some jelly beans.

Just remember if it's a lease as stated you're responsible for the balloon payment at the end, you can't hand the car back unlike PCP or PCH
Wrong, it's the complete opposite. You can ONLY hand the car back at the end.
Completely incorrect, that's contract hire you're thinking of
Nope, you are still wrong. There is no balloon payment with this deal. This is a PCH.
Can u tell me why it says LEASE in the title then?!?!
What are you not getting here?
There are multiple forms of lease. PCH and PCP are both forms of leasing. This is a PCH.
Finance LEASE is different to PCH/CH & PCP. It's not that I don't get it, it's that few realise the difference by the looks of it! I need to know about these things so I do.
Ok, and this is a PERSONAL LEASE. It's a PCH.
Oh FFS!!! A lease agreement is not the same as a hire agreement!! Why would the same thing be called 2 different names???
I'm done, this is petty. Sign up for it & see what happens in 2 yrs.
I did. I signed up for a VW personal lease two months ago from NVS under exactly the same description. It's a PCH, I have the contract in front of me.
Bye.

Bully for you big man! Until 3 months ago I sold VW's

Night sweety xx

On the evidence of what you've been saying above, it's easy to see why you don't sell them anymore.
Deals on cars continue to make people angry.

It's a lease deal, not sure why you don't understand how it works. You can pay £16,000 for your Golf, excellent now how did you pay? A lump sum (oops not financial savvy at all are we) or did you take out a loan? Probably did, OK so that means you're paying every month, just like a lease deal, and possibly put down a deposit by trading in your old car.
So lets say you pay off your new car in 2 years time, what do you have left at the end, a car worth less but as you say not too much less, maybe £12-£13K, hmm maybe OK. Now you have a 2 year old car and you're money is tied up in that car. With this lease deal you've paid out £4K and now you can just go and get another new car on a lease, you can do this multiple times so let's say in 6 years time you've spent £16K on a lease deal, you'll have 3 new cars and you'll still have your old aging one which will be worth about £6K. So it depends what you want to do, drive new all the time or own an aging car. Plus factor in servicing costs as well.
It's not as simple as you make out by saying "How has this deal got hot" is it?
You like leasing then. How about doing modification or adding options to the car?
It's not easy to retrofit standard manufacturer options, if you're in to modding and customisation then why would you want a lease deal anyway?
People who lease are people who don't want to buy a new car and also have hassle free motoring.

I was making the point that whilst you're extolling the virtues of leasing, there are valid reasons for not leasing.

- Modifying could include for example adding a towbar. That wouldn't be allowed on a lease. You could specify a factory option instead but see below.
- Adding any FACTORY options (not retrofitting), means the cost of these is paid for in full over the lease term. I added £8k of options to my last car, why would I do that then hand the car back after 2 years.
- Why is it not financially savvy to pay in cash. Interest earnt in the bank is far less than interest paid on a finance contract (the interest isn't explicit because it is all wrapped in the finance cost you pay each month)

Having looked at the numbers time and time again, leasing it not cheaper than owning a car.

For example this particular car can be bought brand new for £16765 through a car broker. That's £4,580 off the list price. Can you see any two year old 10,000 mile 1.4tsi Golfs for sale at £12,489 (£16765-£4276, ie actual cost of the car less what you paying for the lease).

Every example I have looked at, the residual value of the car leased would still be more than the difference between a price you'd actually pay for the car (not the inflated RRP) and the cost of the lease over the term.

Leasing is for people who specify zero options and have to have a new car every couple of years. For everyone else, do your homework and look elsewhere.

Sadly, the pond kit is now shown as out of stock.

I might pop into my local Works to see if they have any.
great fun with the kids but you can go pond dipping with a jam jar and some string, not sure why you need to buy a kit?
Why not? The school had some kits, the kids loved using the nets, for £2.40 the contents don't look bad, so bobs your uncle, anyway the post isn't just about that kit, they had some other good buys with the code, the space hopper thing is a good price, the tub of big marbles is a fab price ( I nearly had a heart attack last year when I saw the price of bombers in a toy shop ).

Yeah I voted hot anyway, it is good for those that want them, I quite fancied the goal kit :)

Why not spend the £2.40 on a storage tub and dig it into the ground to make your own wildlife pond, i did this with a 30 litre tub from b&m and it is now home to several newts and lots of different insects including great diving beetles, water batman, pond skaters and the odd frog. it is great to check it daily and see all the different creatures that have found this small pond, it is good to give some of my garden back to nature.

We have a pond complete with frogs, a hedgehog house complete with resident hog (first time this year after waiting 3 years, we're so excited), a bee house, bird boxes, we've bred butterflies every year using those kits you can buy (think I love doing that more than the kids), we have a fox that visits every now & again, we've heard scuffling late at night & we're hoping that might be a badger though kids swear its the gruffalo. :D

See "details". Explain to members why it is a good deal, otherwise all that happens is we get threads on luke warm and stone cold posts that are not deals. It also helps the person posting rationalise if they are posting someone "hot" or not.

I am going to add heat to the cold - keep up the good work finding bargains! I am a personal lease lover (a change of car every two years, no depreciation, no tyrekickers, etc) and have in the past found some quality deals. I actually had a (returnable) deposit down on the new Audi Q2 but the thought of paying £30k for a quattro auto with all the trimmings the size of a postage stamp just made me wince! I presently have a 64 plate Skoda Octavia VRS Estate lease that finishes in September and then have a Yeti L&K 4x4 Diesel DSG on order to replace it - total £6,500 over 2 years with 20k miles - that's less than depreciation!! Now watch me get double trolled for Yeti and lease in the same post!!
Sorry , thought i had expired this , but the two sites i found it on both pulled it when i went to do business, so im still looking for something similar.

Thanks for the constructive comments

Could we develop a std for car lease deals whereby the total cost(deposit, fees, monthly costs etc)/no of months of lease is quoted in the title? ie true net cost per month
eg. in this case it's £186
Just makes it easier to make comparisons. Big difference between £186 and £79
End of my two penneth. Have a good weekend everyone!
Surely the total price over the term is more useful? That is quoted in this case too. Quoting the true net cost per month isn't as useful as that's not what you'll be paying each month! ;).
Agreed BUT for comparison purposes, on the title, it makes it much easier to compare deals. If I have a net £100 per month available to spend, then I can ignore this and move on. At £79 I get all excited.....and then not! Obviously, I can spend 30 secs doing the calculation...but I'm far too lazy to contemplate that! :D
The title has the total in it... there are no lease deals without a deposit

There are plenty of deals with zero deposit.

I've not seen any that would be worth posting on here though...
