Agreed, £40 is standard at the moment but I thought it worth mentioning as its a substantial perk. The Essenza is a different (and cheaper) model without an aerocinno so not really comparable.

All Nespresso machines, regardless of where you buy them from, come with a £40 nespresso voucher to spend on coffee pods & Accessories. It is a Nespresso promo rather than a Debenhams promo. Not an amazing price either, I got my Nespresso Essenza at the start of Jan for £79.99

When will I receive my £40 voucher it's now been two weeks, and how will I know their ready to spend

dahokolomoki

The claim through the nespresso website was really quick when I did it during heir offer just before Christmas. Took less than 5 days for the credit to hit my nespresso account.

thedeep1066

If you are after something cheaper and a 'not bad' introduction to Nespresso, get one of these Magimix machines at Comet for £71.99 http://www.comet.co.uk/p/Coffee-Makers/buy-MAGIMIX-11310-Coffee-Maker/773549#customerReviews You still get the £40 worth of Club vouchers as the offer is by Nespresso themselves and takes about two weeks for them to verify it once you have submitted your claim. I tend to start my day with an espresso and this machine does the job. Bonus is that you get a selection of around £16 capsules in the box to sample the various flavours you can purchase directly from Nespresso. And the 3 year warranty you get with the machines is good as well. You will also get the option once you sign up to get some special 'welcome selection' of coffee (think its 200 capsules for £70). For a nice taste, use water from a water filter jug or similar. You don't have too but it helps reduce the potential for limescale build up with the internal heating element. Nespresso is a 'lifestyle' not just a coffee supposedly. Until I look a little like George Clooney or get all the really good looking women wanting some coffee from my cup, I will beg to differ! :-)

siadwel

Tempted by the Indigo variety, will have to ask the wife what colour our kitchen is, that's if we've got one.

bjb79

Nice, the coffee from these machines is great (IMHO) The Indigo variety is showing as just £96.99... If you have an Indigo kitchen that is... Heat!

Great deal! This is the manual M100 instead of the automatic. This just means that you press and hold the hot water button until you want it to stop instead of being able to program it as one touch. Its also missing the aerocinno milk warmer/frother which is bundled with more expensive packages. Still by far the cheapest anywhere.

http://coffeegeek.com/opinions/markprince/07-20-2004#4 ... "Pressure rating used on most pump driven espresso machines. 9 BAR, the typical accepted pressure for brewing espresso is 8.8 atmospheres of pressure or 130 pounds per square inch. Almost every consumer espresso machine with a vibratory or rotary pump is capable of producing this pressure consistently". 15 Bar is standard for an Espresso Machine. A 19 Bar Machine does not mean better coffee.

albal

Okay so it's an espresso machine though not at the right pressure but this post is about Nespresso machines - something different. Thanks for the reply anyway. Granted it's more expensive but we don't tend to drink the same amount on a regular basis so it suits us. Cheers, Al

phatdaveuk

The Delonghi is only 15 bar. An espresso machine should be 19 bar. Nespresso is great espresso providing you are willing to pay for the capsules. This is an excellent price for this machine. It's one of the best Nespresso machines available and is competely automated.

John lewis had a nepresso with aeroccino for £90 Last week. Also had £40 worth of capsules ( voucher now exp.). I would definately buy a machine with the 01 and pay the extra. Aerocinno's sell for approx £70 on ebay. Dixons have the pair for £105. Fab coffee. Around 30p a capsule. Very rarely buy drinks out so this a lovely everyday luxury.

pot_belly

Bit late? You say you've already ordered one! It's not the price of the device that's an issue, it's the overpriced consumables. If you are a low volume user then the convenience/taste combination from this device is unbeatable. If you're a high volume user you need to look at conventional machines that push hot water at pressure through loose grounds. It's the cheapest and best tasting way. It's how coffee shops do it. It is however messy and more time consuming and takes a little practice to get right. If you're willing to invest the time then the Cookworks Signature device is fine. I've been using it daily for a couple of month with no issues. It's only around £35 so not a big investment if it turns out not to be your thing.

You've gotta pity the snobs (whatever the subject of their snobbery) hobbled with such finely tuned taste buds that forces them to hand over WADS of cash to satify their oh so superior tastes... hahahah. Think for yoursleves potential buyers...buy one...use it...if it just doesn't hit the mark you've only wasted £32 (if you can find one that is...they're very much sought after it seems), then go and spend £3-400 of your hard earned on your turbo charged, uber-cool coffee machine, just to find out that it makes only marginally better coffee, but at least you can bore...sorry "impress" your friends by name dropping your latest must have purchase.

CFC

You can't compare Nespresso machines or capsules, which are premium, to this machine or to the available coffee pods.. This machine may well equal a Tassimo and a lot of folk are happy with those. Horses for courses, not everyone is very particular about their coffee. I am but then I am an addict :)

Nespresso is perfect for one or two cups of excellent coffee, with an outstanding variety of strengths and flavours. Yes they are 30p a cup, but compared to £3.30 for a Starbucks it's cheap for premium coffee. I have a similar Delonghi Lattissima machine and if you like a Latte or Cappuccino and don't want the faf these fully automatic machines are excellent. The above Which? Best buy, has one small problem that I can see, which is the pressure of the pump. Many coffee baristas say that 19 bar is the required pressure for a decent crema and to extract the full flavour of the coffee, and I have to say my Nespresso hasn't made a bad one yet. Biggest problem with Nespresso machines however is that are useless for serving coffee for more than one or two people. Try using it to make coffee after dinner for more than 4 guests and usually the first person you serve has finished when you serve the last one. Still use the trusty Bialetti for that.

dws199

JR.Hartley

Looks good thanks.

dooper

For people who want a great cup of coffee at home using Pods from only 9p each, or loose ground coffee, consider this £35 Which? 'Best Buy' Espresso Machine.

dws199

It works out at just under 30p a capsule so I think "ridiculously expensive" is a bit of an exaggeration. Plus the added benefit is that there is no mess to clean up afterwards unlike regular coffee machines.

savaloy-sausasge

Price on Amazon has gone up, over a hundred quid now. Another vote for the quality of Nespresso from myself. I buy beans, grind and make espresso with a traditional machine when I have the time, but more often I use Nespresso, especially the Indriya capsule. Gone as far as having a machine at home and at work. Shame I missed this deal though, need a replacement.

Melangerie Pods are available at Lidl in approximately 4 varieties. All at only £1.49 for 18 = 8p a cup. There's a wide choice for online shoppers, e.g. ESE Pods by Illy, Caffe Prima, Segafredo, Molinari, Gaggia, Lavazza, etc. Then there's Senseo Pods, available nearly everywhere. Plus the infinite variety of loose ground coffee blends. I like the Melangerie Pods. Great price, great flavour. In contrast, the cost of Pods for Dolce Gusto, Nespresso & Tassimo machines stand out as the rip-off that they are. I also prefer Melangerie Pods to Tassimo Pods (I also have a Tassimo machine), which are over 3 times the price. Machines like this Nespresso lock you in an expensive proprietary type of Pod. A proper Espresso Machine frees you to choose what you want. Which? is the source of objective reviews for domestic products. Your dislike puts you in a tiny minority. Practically every appliance in my kitchen is a Which? 'Best Buy'. Some are very old, & all are in perfect working order. Which? reviews of Nespresso machines generally score higher than Dolce Gusto, Nespresso & Tassimo machines. If you really want a 'Pod-only' machine, & are willing to spend over £200 a year on Pods, depending on personal consumption, then by all means buy a Nespresso. Those who want excellent coffee at a fraction of Nespresso prices should look elsewhere.

wdh

How about comparing against branded ones like those from Illy? They are £10 for 15 Which makes them (in your example) cost about £268 MORE per year than Nespresso ... What does that do to your argument? The cost of the Nespresso pods ain't outrageous. And you can choose which style of espresso you prefer -- until I got my machine, I hadn't really appreciated the nuances that I prefer among a choice of pretty good espressos. I haven't found one I disliked, but I have my preferences. Perhaps *you* like Lidl's single offering. Awkward if you don't! I stopped subscribing to Which many many many years ago when I could see, month after month, that they were using daft criteria to 'objectively' discriminate between products. Gaggia made excellent but massive coffee-bar equipment. Their home stuff has been a bit of a quality control joke. They went bust a couple of years back, and I have no idea who has bought the name. It is NOT that I have invested heavily in this system and therefore feel some need to justify it. I actually stopped using a £100+ Dualit ESE machine in favour of a £30 eBay Nespresso --- because it makes better espresso. Every single time. Without fuss. Simple as that. Ground (to a powder) espresso coffee oxidises (and changes flavour) within hours after grinding - if its exposed to the air. That is the principal reason that pod systems make sense for home use. A basic grinder that will go fine enough costs over £60. And it doesn't grind just two cups worth at a time. And it needs to be cleaned after every use. And I haven't even mentioned 'tamping' - trying to manually compress the coffee so that it offers just the right amount of resistance to the hot water... its a big source of uncontrolled variation. So pods really do make sense for good domestic espresso. The interesting things there are the prices. They make this deal look pretty hot. But don't buy one unless you like espresso. Its not an ordinary coffee-maker.

Seriously tempted! But wondering if I should get the "business"/"office" version of nespresso, the one that uses pods instead of capsules. I hear the pods work out to be cheaper, which is better in the long run...

padders

boonkoh, the red one has just gone down to £112.49 which is cheaper than it was. They have put the price on this one up though.

dahokolomoki

Damn! Have been eyeing to get one and waiting for one to be cheap, but looking for the red version. Will have to wait a bit longer....

paulbsouthern

Hi, The Nespresso pods are expensive, but the coffee is first class. I think if you are prepared to pay over £100 for a machine, you will take the hit for the pods. The Nespresso pods are also used at quality restaurants (such as Heston Bloomenthals (sp?)) (NB _ They're not available at supermarkets - mail order or Nespresso boutiques (Lonmdon/Birmingham)) Cheers, good deal

Kafkaesque

The ESE pod format does allow you more choice in brand of coffee, but I've found that in the brands of coffee I like (Illy etc) the cost comes pretty close to the Nespresso. The Nespresso machines do offer great design, small footprint, and super ease of use that appeal to a lot of people. They're aimed at people that would normally be buying a £2.50 latte from a coffee shop, 25p seems cheap in comparison. Not for everyone, but I think you'll find that the level of customer satisfaction is high for these machines. (At least it is amongst those of my friends that own them)

This is a good deal, though you may need to wait a little while. Amazon are normally pretty good, i'd ignore some of the silly comments, won't sell it to you at advertised price, gaggia, and some dodgy website. Some people just haven't got a clue. Oh yeah, btw, kettles don't come with tea bags either, so you'll need to factor that in next time buy yourself a kettle.
