Had mine over a year and it works fine, then I do tend to treat my accessories with care....i.e. not covered in gunk and scum and usage from every Tom, Dick and Harry. I even bought a second one..........

I'd rather buy from CEX for the warranty

philjstephenson

home & Garden on eBay are cruddy as hell, they say refurbished but when it arrives i GUARANTEE itll be covered in crud and sweat and dead skin....

Rusty82

You have up 6 years protection against a faulty product(in England, 5 in Scotland), with the retailer who sold you said item. Regardless of what warranty is offered. You will however have to prove that the product has an inherent fault by getting an independent report. I've has this done free of charge by local repair shop on a 3 year old Xbox one. I was then offered a settlement which exceeded the cost of a newer S model so can't complain. I got this controller when it was released and not had any problems, thus far. I love it.

frakison

:p well they are being dishonest by not fixing what is a very well reported fault so I'd not lose any sleep (y) I just returned mine to Game for a credit refund, which I used to get a £60 MS Credit and one of the special edition normal pads, I was really miffed as this is a great pad... that one weakness is just unforgivable and rendered ours useless :(

Scratch that, LB went this morning, MS couldn't be less helpful if they tried. They eventually said they would replace my 4mth old pad but that it would only have a 3mth warranty, says a lot to me, so they guarantee that a £120 "premium" pad will last 3mths?? Now off to discuss it with Game to see what they can do. My advice, avoid this "premium" product, it's fundamentally flawed

Xbox One Elite Controller £99.99 @ Amazon
Amazon have just recently dripped the price of the elite Controller down to £99.99. A pretty good deal for a highly rated controller.
Ashe

You're just not representing both sides in your argument. Yes, there's lots of DLC nowadays. On the other hand, we get plenty of sales now with games at low prices for those that wait a bit. And we get games that take far, far more resources to develop - what was the typical development cost of a top game in 1993, compared to now? And that's before we even consider inflation...

frostyclock

Poor drifting issues with FPS. returned as faulty within a month.

SQUAD999

Voted cold as don't consider this a deal. I paid this back in the new year sale with either forza (I think) or gears of war 4. The controller is not the high quality I was expecting. It does feel heavier and slightly better quality. But feel Microsoft has way over priced these, and I would be dissapointed a few months down the line paying this price. I will be looking at 3rd party reviews or treating myself to scuff next time. Really this should be the quality of controller which comes with your xbox originally

tunafuturwarfare

Nope, it was from Game brand new when they had the offer of trade in an official x1 pad and pay £70ish, I had it for a loong time before I started to use it as I was using a new consoles pad (which the left analogue stick went faulty on) and hadn't gone back to playing FPS versus online which was my intentions of having the pad that unfortunately sat around its case (I'd also wanted it for forza but I didn't even pick up another forza until horizon 3 as playing a forza game with out my own background music is a big no for me).

dantesfireplace

Unfortunately you're ignoring the obvious economies of scale that are at work nowadays. Gaming is far more broad a pass-time than it was back in 1993, hence more sales, leading to more profit. As such, game prices are set at the level publishers believe they can command, they are not based on cost to produce, or sadly amount of content. Remember the failed attempt a few years ago at selling the latest COD game at rrp £59.99 ? The fact that game prices haven't changed much in 20 years is also related to how the big games can continue to generate income after release. GTA, COD, Battlefield - they all make huge secondary income from DLC for years to come. It's just not as simple as saying game prices haven't changed much in 20 years there's more to it than that.

It was left analogue stick drift, i managed to get a new one via alternate means (Ordered one and sent the faulty one back) Yes dishonest but so was selling a £110 controller and telling me it was out of warranty! Thanks for your info, ive booked marked this convo incase i need it in the future.

jimmyjog

What was the issue fella? If its one of the popular failures (shoulder buttons, hefty stick drift) then you can make a claim using the Consumer Rights Act. After 6 months, the onus is on you to show there is an inherent fault, but if your fault is common (check the likes of www.reddit.com/r/xboxone) and you can cite several other cases of that fault, you shouldnt have an issue. You even have the right to take them to small claims court. Which do a good summary of the CRA2015 on their website. Refuse to take no for an answer, the law is in your favour. Best of luck!

1spoon1

Thanks for the heads up Jimmy but I tried sending an Elite controller back that was 9 months old and they refused point blank to replace it?

I don't get it why cold voters? it's a premium controller with magnetic flaps... you wanna pay 150 quid for Scuff that is just cheap plastic? Go do it. Normal controller is what 55-65 quid depending on skin? How is £80 bad? One question - how do i get the £10 voucher? - Edit: Voucher deal ended last week edit 2: after seeing old deals, where you could get games like battlefield one and elite for £99.. ended up cancelling order. I will wait

No, It is a good deal. You guys fight over pennies and vote certain brands cold no matter what.

vhero

I think it's because £80+ for a pad no matter how good it is, is not a good deal. Your very easy influenced if you think it is.

Hiltron09

Yep I posted it but the games they were offering were not new release games like this. It's funny this website. This, if you sold Tekken gets you the elite controller for £86.70 with a £10 voucher for Argos. Much lower than base price for the controller. Cold , nevermind eh? I don't think many people are bothered working out the maths.

Deal expired - and now charging £119 for a refurbished working controller and £85 for a broken one!

DingoDirk

It is I think the best console controller you can buy. It seems like a crazy amount of money to spend on a controller until you actually try using one - button click and basic feedback quite aside from customisation means that it's difficult to go back to another controller. The price of these refurbished ones is though creeping up at a rapid rate. At £69 it would be worth a go but at £89, there's not much between it and the price of a new one.

baked_bean_face

Thanks for the comment mate. Mine is working spot on at the moment. Fingers crossed it stays that way. :-)

DingoDirk

I've owned three Elite controllers - first two broke despite careful use within warranty and were replaced by Amazon no questions asked. I would strongly recommend not buying an Elite controller from anywhere that does not allow you to take it back to the shop same day or otherwise access Amazon's legendary customer service. Student Computers has also upped the price of the lowest price Grade A+ model from £69 to £79 in the past few days with most now coming in at £89. I would avoid. When these controllers work, they are sublime but it's a lot of money for a gamble.

Yas

You call it liking/disliking, I call it value for money/not value for money. Suspect we aren't all that far apart on what this site stands for! Have a good weekend yourself, and glad you're enjoying your controller. Edit: And dispite the minus degrees, if it's helped someone else (and it obviously has) then well worth posting.

I bought an Omen laptop the last time they offered a free Xbox Elite controller, back in March. The controller FINALLY arrived yesterday after 2 weeks of phone calls and emails pestering them. It arrived in an opened box ( the seal was broken) with a bent paddle. Nobody at HP will take responsibility - they told me that because I paid more than 30 days ago this is now a warranty issue and I have to take it up with Microsoft! I guess that explains why they make you wait 30 days after purchasing the laptop to submit a claim for the controller.

It took a lot of phone calls, emails and posts on their Facebook page for HP to finally acknowledge that they needed to replace my faulty one. The 2nd one was in a sealed box. You definitely haven't got the faulty one they sent me, because despite me waiting in all day for their carrier they never bothered collecting it!

After phoning and emailing received my controller yesterday, seal on box was broken too.Apart from that everything looked ok.

ArthurDent1

Did anybody buy this and successfully claim the Xbox Controller? I waited weeks for mine. Spent the last 2 weeks phoning and emailing to find out what's happening and it finally arrived yesterday. Unfortunately the box had been opened (the seal was broken) and one of the paddles is bent. I phoned HP this morning and they told me because I paid for it over 30 days ago it's now a warranty issue and I should contact Microsoft! I guess that's why they make you wait 30 days from purchasing the laptop to claim the controller; so they don't have to deal with faulty ones.

Even these deals aren't available it wouldn't be difficult to find something similar. The one your showing is pointless if someone wanting a gaming laptop as the Storage isn't suitable so that would be an extra cost. Aside from that I was merely presenting other options which I believe would be of interest to people wanting to buy something similar price but newer spec, could be the reason to the cold votes. If you think the one you found is a better deal though then fair enough, each to their own :)

brilly

can you back up the 20% better claim in op? looking at a few bench marks i only found one game where they were the same (new mass effect which iirc is badly optimised?) in the rest the 1050 was better your potentially 723 thing should be removed as well as the controller thing was common to all the previous omen deals and you shouldn't have to sell something to get a deal price

cowtc

This deal has ended, but the £829 model uses the 1050 which is slower than the 965M gaming-wise Again deal has ended, was a good deal, although you're paying around £1k during the deal (its now £1.3k)

Has anybody bought one of these and successfully claimed the xbox controller? I bought one for my son - he's very happy with the laptop, but despite getting a confirmation email 7 weeks ago we're STILL waiting for the xbox controller. HP said they're "investigating with the carrier" but no further response from them. UPDATE: The controller finally arrived yesterday - the seal on the box was broken and one of the paddles is bent. Now being given the runaround by HP Promotions. They told me because I purchased it more than 30 days ago it's a warranty issue now so I have to contact Microsoft! That might explain why they make you wait 30 days after purchasing the laptop to claim the controller.

subtrash

You certain about that. Other way round isn't it? http://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-965M-vs-Nvidia-GTX-1050/m24481vs3650

cowtc

Code doesn't work anymore, however, I think the Very deal is equally (if not better) than this. Very's HP Omen is Intel® Core™ i7, 8Gb RAM, 1Tb Hard Drive & 128Gb SSD Storage, 15.6 inch Full HD Gaming Laptop with 4Gb Nvida Geforce GTX965M Graphics The 965M is ~20% better than the 1050 and slightly below (~10%) the 1050ti gaming performance-wise. Very's price is £849.99, can still claim the free Xbox controller (-£100), also code KXVJX for new customer gives £20 discount, there is also £7 quidco, so overall if we got all our money off and sell controller it would be ~£723 for a i7, dual hard-drive, 4GB GTX965M gaming laptop

Shakeyyy

What do you think of it so far?

subtrash

You pretty much need the brightness turned up to full but when it is then it looks quite nice. Blacks are pretty deep. Having said that I may be the wrong person to ask as I mainly use the lappy plugged into a bigger monitor - the laptop screen is rarely on. The bezels are pretty big on it mind

Good deal, very tempting, voted hot. Ideally want at 1050 ti, or even a 1060 for gaming, although haven't seen any decent deals for any.

Actually, it does have the SSD, so just the controller you miss out on with the Pavillion. That's still enough to make the Omen a significantly better deal though.

SgtPepper

Doh! I should have checked more carefully before suggesting this as an alternative, as this and the lack of free controller make it nowhere near as good as the Omen.

terrible service - I sold mine for £80 on Gumtree - dropped it off at buyers home too - it was mint - she was giving it as a Xmas gift to her son and she agreed it would easily pass for new - look out for other local seller's who look after things - surely I am not the only one - I want to buy another now as just bought an Xbox again - not from this seller though - wish I was selling one ;)

got one of these " refurbished" ones the last time they were up at £72.99 ish, repackaged without being tested or cleaned, it was full of crud from the previous user and had to be returned faulty.....H&G were OK about it but it took 2 weeks to get my cash back..cold unfortunately, pay the little extra and get a new one!

Yas

No. I think the point was Switch controllers have got such a slating (from me as well) for being £60/£65 (Pro/JoyCons) from XBoxOne/PS4 owners that this can only be cold at £80 for a second hand one!

prynolfc

Yeah but they don't work on Xbox One consoles unfortunately so you might aswell have not said that...
