now £139.99 not £129.99

MassiveBiscuits

I’ve had 3 elite controllers. 1 bought and the other 2 replaced by Microsoft because the first 2 broke under warranty. The 3rd has just broke (usual stick drift and bumper button broke), so now I look for another one. Design is amazing. The build is appalling. Avoid unless from somewhere with extended warranty.

Jason

Temperature seems a little harsh for this one as its not a bad price :) Thanks for taking the time to post @HandySam

This vs Scuf for build quality? Heard pretty bad things about both. Wish 8bitdo would make a premium pad.

I get that, for me however the functionality it offers isnt very tangible compared to a Fusion Pro for example which is half the price, Ive been party to rumours & hearsay that these break just as much as the next controller Consider the official xbox controllers can be had for £34.99 on deal.... Mine was 110 and ive been using it for two years. Much better than paying 50 for a normal cyberpunk controller (lol)

harithik

Too pricey!

thecatsasterix

Somthing is only ever worth what you are prepared to pay for it. I was wanting to upgrade my experience when they launched the xbox one x. Did I invest in the X and the controller or build a PC. After looking at both options the PC won! Probably being a little harsh calling it tat but I didnt find the price hike worth the return.

garryallen

It is fair to question whether you think the price is justified, but the majority opinion from actual owners is they are happy with their purchase, myself included. It is also fair to complain about the QC issues with both this generation and the first. What *is* ridiculous is to label them 'tat' which is just objectively wrong.

Coffee vs water? Coffee is a stimulant :D

Chiptivo

Agreed, I spent over £200 for my xbox headset. A50's Worth every penny for something I use every night. Some people spend £1000's on a couch, when a beanbag would do for £50.

ch7leach

For me I can't justify due to not being a gamer as such. I'm fine with people spending money on the things they appreciate but this I can't just seems bonkers

powerbrick

Why is it (confused)

northfield

Most people spend far more on coffee when they could just have water, people choose what’s valuable to them and this site is about finding the best price for those things individuals find valuable, I personally think it’s a good price for a quality product that is also confirmed to work with the next generation, not bad for something I use in my biggest hobby, Heat

Microsoft Elite Controller series 2 for Xbox One - Amazon.co.uk - £129.95

Yes its expensive and wont be for everyone but currently out of stock in a lot of places, amazon have it with £30 off RRP.
A_R_R

You guys are clearly not interested in high performance and looking for the endless marginal gains that this controller provides. Plus £130 is nothing for something that will serve you well for a long time. Price is what you pay, value is what you get. But thanks for your opinions!

Jason.Schofield

I tried the series 1 elite controller at EGX when it launched and laughed at the Microsoft rep when he told me it was £120. I eventually relented, bought one and never looked back. Those rear paddles made so much sense and now I can't bare to use a controller without them.

Jason.Schofield

Damn, missed this one.

Why are you putting up quotes for what you would do on a different console? this is about the Xbox Elite controller and if it should have rechargeable batteries or not

SoundBoy

I like Xbox, to be honest I got them both (PS4 and Xbox one x) but Xbox controllers are a away to overpriced Xbox controller starting from £45-£50 Official rechargeable battery pack £15-££20 and will get same problem as PS4 Or 4 AA batteries + charger £15-£25 Or just keep buying AA batteries from you local shop £2-£3 4pack. Total: £60-£75 PS4 controller with built in rechargeable battery £35-£40 Get yourself two of them and swap during the game with one button (not wasting your time for battery replacement). Don't forget, with two controllers you can have some fun with your family/household member Total: £70-£80

shasnir

Built-in Rechargeable batteries that you still have to charge and when the charge gets low whilst playing you have two choices 1. Plug in a cable or 2. Buy a Second controller that you keep charged so you don't have problem 1.

polg

Anyone know any where the fixes Elite Controllers? Serious bit of drifting going on...

Shonk

Doesnt matter i found someone on ebay and he was willing to sell the domed one from his v2 as he doesnt use it

Shonk

mine came yesterday condition is almost like new 2 very faint scratches where the battery bay used to be on the v1 apart from that it looks new (i would say from draging it over the charge puck metal pins) registered it with ms and it was first connected to an xbox one 23-12-19 so warranty is until 23-12-20 no problems with buttons or drift I used the dome sticks on my v1 really not getting on with 1 dome and 1 normal I have a skin condition and find the dome sticks the easiest to use without damaging my skin anyone not using the dome fancy selling me it for a few quid?

Confuzz

Mine came today like new no marks even box was in perfect condition have tested all the button and no issues with sticking buttons or noises very happy guess I was lucky :)

tjc2005

Mine arrived. Like new condition, only the left rumble makes a whirring noise so it's either going back to argos or I'm going to send it for repair at microsoft, depending on what argos say.

Love the fact that people are calling people idiots for having one. Only an idiot would call someone an idiot, having not owned one themselves. Truly the greatest controller every made. Build quality, configurable parts and so many ways to play each type of game. The fine tuning is immense. Even the weight is spot on.

chrisbatts

Now I’m playing a lot more first person shooters I can see the value in these. No arguing the high price and absolutely not for everyone but if you want this functionality (mainly the rear paddles) in wireless format it would appear this is the price range.

StolenDiagram

At the minute no, but that's to be expected. Looking for something non essential to buy during a quarantine probably isnt the smartest time though, prices will be higher than normal where stock exists. Keep your eye on 365games though, its price is currently under 150 but oos

jimbotheman

Can you find one place selling this controller for under £150? I’m trying to find one to buy

StolenDiagram

An extra £10? Should be free with the controller at the very least. Most places selling the controller for under £150.

I purchased a white one not that long ago from them. Looked pretty much brand new and didn't need cleaning or anything (although obviously I did clean it). I've not used it heavily but it seems spot on in the time I've used it. Everything was included and it works perfectly. As for if the Elite is worth it, that is a question only you can really answer. If you own and are happy with the standard Xbox controller I'd personally stick with it as you'll unlikely want to go back. For me personally I find the regular controllers a bit slippy for my liking so its worth it for the rubber grip alone. The paddles, customisation, build quality and such are just a bonus. Only thing missing really is Bluetooth and with the new compact Windows adapter dongle thats less of an issue. The series 2 looked good right up until the point where they announced the internal battery. It is for all intents and purposes non serviceable as you have to basically destroy the controller to get to it. Internal is annoying, non-servicable is a sin.

pett1985

The original Elite controllers is/was far better than the standard controller but it did have a lot of issues with stick drift, bumpers breaking and the rubber coating detaching. I had one for about two years of occasional use but happily part exchanged it for the series two when stick drift became noticeable enough to be annoying, Whilst this supplier is only asking half the original release price, it is still a lot of money for a last Gen product with only a 90 day warranty that interestingly has some well known and well documented design and manufacturing issues. If I was in the market for a new controller I’d be tempted to add a tiny bit more money and wait for a deal on a series 2. As for, is it worth it. Like another responder suggested, once you’ve used either of the Elite controllers you won’t want to go back to a standard controller. Yes, retail price is ridiculously high but over the last 4 years or so with some patience, I’ve managed to pick up the black Elite, the white special addition and recently the series 2 brand new with full warrenty for less than £100 each. Admittedly, part exchanging my original Elite to offset over half the cost of the series 2.

tygr

These used controllers are always around this price from this supplier. Has anyone bought one and are they actually worth it? Expecting to be playing a bit more Xbox soon.

migavupe

I’d want more than 90 days warranty on this, a lot to throw away on a controller that’s had some problems.

I bought mine in 2016 when curry’s were doing the elite console deal for £190 and then sold the console. It was in very good condition after three years of use until before Christmas and then the grips started to peel. It’s had three years heavy use and still works well. There are fixes for the grips which look easy enough to keep it going.

mastermjr20041

I purchased their grade B xbox one controller and it looks brand new, no scratches or marks whatsoever. Sticks look brand new also and plays absolutely fine. It's just down to luck really, so dont think you should discard them that easily.

DevilsNeverCry

'Grade B' Key features: - Built-in stick drift! - only half the customisation options remaining - 2 broken paddles - dead skin in all the cracks, yum yum People, this is not a deal. If you'r going to get one at least find a high quality used example, or just don't cheap out and get a brand new one when an offer comes around.

TAZMANUK

I was referring to controllers in general I only have the 2 that came with console and 1 that my sons came with. I wouldn't pay so much for one

bluenotesmiley

Oh I fully get that but the person made out that the issues didn't exist. I bought my v1 before I read about the grips coming off. First one lasted about 10-11 months. The replacement lasted about 6 and the second replacement lasted about 2 months before I just stopped using it as I can be bothered to mess about with it. Shame because I enjoyed using the controller but I won't buy the second due to the issues I had with the v1.

SimonSpencer

Imo the standard controllers are very cheap and nasty. When I got first got a one s I couldn't believe how poor the creaking plastic felt compared to my old 360 controllers. If this was a much better quality controller I'd be tempted, despite it being too expensive, but it's not. It's just as likely as a standard one to be faulty within a few months. Basically, standard controllers are a £20 product sold for £40-50. And this is a £50 product sold for whatever they can get out of people.

Controllers are better for some types of games including third person, driving and sports games. Personally I prefer the Steam Controller or Wii U Pro Controller for this but for someone who prefers the Xbox controller this is their best option. Even without all the premium stuff the controller has the buttons on the back are great for being able to use your right analogue stick while still doing face button functions. There are also many people on PC who will use it as a console and sit on the couch to play games.

uchihasilver

Hey I’m not gonna begrudge then I spent nearly the same alone on my keyboard and my mouse was £65

JohnnyRoller

Yes but for 3rd person games you would be absolutely fine using a standard controller... Everyone keeps talking rubbish in here, it’s very simple this controller is a waste of money for this price. If you’re happy spending that on this controller then so be it (y)

It's not a 'deal', as it is the same RRP as elsewhere for the version ONE. Hopefully this is a 28 day price, which the then reduce further in the Jan sales, but I'd rather wait to see if anyone does a decent deal on the version TWO

muckilla

if it's the side grips on the controller they're the easiest to replace but if middle section it's alittle more tricky but not too bad. not as easy as 360 controllers though i miss their simplicity. do wish the prices of the replacement parts would have come down by now though.

taffyraptor

It's my lads controller and it's destroyed pretty much fell apart whereas all his regular pads are going strong. The replacement grips don't seem to be up to kych the last I checked. I'll have another nosey. I've fixed plenty of 360 and One pads over the years so I'll happily give it a shot.
