Officially the most powerful FM2+ cpu is the AMD A10 7890K but it costs £125, you can get the Athlon X4 880K which is the same cpu just without the graphics part of the chipset which only costs £68 and that should overclock a bit better as it doesnt haved the added gpu heat aswel that the A10 has

Having said that my personal opinion would probably be to sell or swap that board and try to get an AM3 motherboard so you can buy one of the FX CPU's the 8320 can be had for around £100 and there is a huge performace gain from the FM2+ cpu's. Or even wait until the end of the year for the new AMD Zen cpu's they should cost the same amount but be equivilent to current Intel core i5/i7 CPU's

Not quite the same, it's clocked at 4/4.2Ghz instead of 4.1Ghz/4.3Ghz. This may also mean slightly reduced overclocking ability on average, although it's difficult to tell

I can't see the FM2A55M-HD+ on sale so if you're buying second hand you may want to look at the 860k or 7870k as they've been around longer (same chip, slightly lower clockspeed).

true but it's double the cost of the athlon processor and the addition of the GPU on the same chip will mean less overclock headroom as it will give out more heat
