Was searching for budget case and thought this looked okay for my purpose. Not the deal of century but a clean looking case for very reasonable money. Some of the cheap cases have such OTT designs.

With regards Scan customer service, they aren't great IMO. Past couple of orders haven't been sent when supposed to then contacted the day after delivery was meant to happen to say they are missing some random item that was in stock at point of ordering.

Have also had murder with them when RMAing an ASUS Media Player that had intermittent crashing when ran for a few hours. I sent them files and instructions on how long it had to be on to guarantee a fail but they claimed they could not replicate it (I could every time). Sure they just couldn't be bothered with spending time. Refused to refund or replace and charged me to return it as well as having paid to send it in.

So long as it goes right then they are fine, but they are no where near Amazon levels of service. My Amazon supplied Sony MP3 player is faulty and they have refunded in advance and sent a return label for Collect +, can't say fairer than that.

That's true, but one major difference between these clowns and Amazon is that Amazon do not apply the "benefit of use" legislation to goods which have failed within the warranty period. I returned a failed external HDD and they offered a paltry 60% of the original cost as a partial refund, based on the fact that I had use of the item for 11 months. They only improved their offer when I threatened going to the small claims court. Amazon do not try to pull that stunt, in my experience. Not forgetting they initially denied that warranty claims had anything to do with them, they only changed their mind when Buffalo got involved. I despise them, crooks.

Hmmm, doesn't read well your experience either. I gotta admit since joining HUK the insight gained on what people experience with online companies is eye opening, even reviews on sites for x company do not reflect the shares done on here.

I bought this case a few weeks ago. Great build quality for price and 2 fans included. Was a bit bigger than I was expecting it to be though

I have 2 Fractal Design R4's, and they are probably the best cases I have ever had. Loads of room and space for many hard drives, if you need them of course.

The spec's for internals are great IMO for a budget case, I also like the brushed metal front. The OC'ed CPU/Mobo which will go into it will end up getting better case cooling than current. I get great temps already with just 2x120m fans plus the PSU one but in this case I think I'll add 1 more to the front and 1 to the top.

TBH have used Scan since about 2004 (2-3 times a year) and never had any issues on purchase, twice RMA'd things and all been well. I've had some great deals out of them and would use them without hesitation, one of the best deals recently was a Cooler Master V850 PSU (made by Seasonic) inc VAT & Shipping £85.

I would strongly recommend anything from Fractal Design. I recently bought a Define Mini case and quality of the build is superb! Hot from me:)

Yes the R5 is pricer but has certain features which this case doesn't have so the question you need to ask yourself is do you need those features for your build?

I know exactly what hardware I'm placing in this case and even in the future when hardware is swapped the build will remain simple and minimal. My main rig is a heavier and pricer case a) it houses more hardware b) is on display so needs to look the part

Yes it's heavier but if your regularly moving your PC I'd be building small form factor PC. I would assume as it's not a budget case it must have heavier gauge metal plus has sound damping material and is bigger in dimensions.

Reading the reviews for both cases may help you decide, the Techpowerup reviews have great build images as well.
