About this deal

I was looking for a second room TV and saw this well reviewed TV £200 cheaper at Costco when compared to Currys and Argos.
It has 8.5/10 for mixed use on Rtings.com.

I've been looking at this, I have a C9 OLED and I just really want something brighter. Anyone got any experience with this set?

for those considering this, I've been using mine for a few weeks now in the bedroom. Our main TV is a 65 inch OLED LG CX. This one is 55 inch. Its a fantatsic set. I am so impressed with the tech, the brightness levels are staggering and imo it is a much nicer set to play games on than the LG CX. The HDR is super. I still prefer the OLED for movies, its just unbeatable in my opinion, but I tell you what this comes very very close! the software is OK, main apps work well enough bu i use a firestick anyway

How is this different from the U7K picture wise ? Many thanks

That's a very difficult question to answer. Everyone's perception and eyesight is different. What may look good to one person, may look terrible to another. Do you have 20/20 vision or do you wear contacts or glasses etc.

From a specification point of view. The U7K and U8K are both 8bit+FRC VA panels with full array mini LED backlights and QLED filters. The U7K is listed as having 240 local dimming zones on the 55". The U8K says it has an "Anti glare / Matt screen and is the higher model in the range. I don't know if the U7 also has the Anti glare / Matt screen or if the U8 actually has more dimming zones than the U7. The U8K is supposed to be their highest end flagship model.

You would either need to see them both side by side in person or go through all the hassle of buying them both and sending one back.

But bare in mind, most of the manufacturers will be launching their 2024 ranges in the next few months. LG D series OLEDs, Samsung have their "D" series QN90D and S90D, Hisense N series and TCL replacing their Cx 45 K with Cx 55 K models (c655, c755/805, c855).

Probably going to see more discounts on Hisense TV's as the 2024 models are due out soon. The U8N is the replacement for this.

This was £629 on Costco couple weeks ago. Likely to hit £599 soon I think.

Currently have a VIDAA-based Hisense but would I buy another? Not a chance.

This is a cracking price for the spec but I would steer away from anything other than Android TV or Roku.

I suppose the user experience can easily be rectified with a dongle/Nvidia shield/pc. Where there is hdmi, there is a way.
