A really decent price for a very good little laptop. I have the HP 6530B which is Core 2 Duo and with an SSD in it flys, so I have no doubt that this will be quick with or without the SSD - although it's always a good idea to stick one in.
It's a refurb but £200 odd for an i5 is very good. Not only that, but I find these HP laptops really really nice to use and well made. Not very big, lovely keyboard, decent speakers etc.
The HP EliteBook 8440p notebook PC is designed for mobile professionals who need manageability, security, and upgradeable wireless and enhanced system and graphics performance in a business-rugged notebook with a 14.0-inch diagonal display.

sorted byBattery will be fubar on this, no usb3, no blutooth and only sata2, which does limit SSD useage. Only thing going for some of these elitebooks were higher res screens which this looks to be sadly lacking.
Consumer laptop build quality is but their business laptops are top notch and not comparible.
i would be happy to shoot you
And it's second hand.
Cold.
Meh US layout.
it isnt, it it's a 3-4 year old laptop deal, no business is going to buy this.
p.s. it doesnt have a UK keyboard.
It's a business laptop, the deal is for a business laptop, a business laptop, a business laptop
laptop toplaptaloplaptopdisppsssss.........somebody shoot me.
You'd miss judging from that previous badly placed "like".
I had to buy a power brick but think you can find a better price elsewhere so cold from me.
Support ends in 2020 according to your source.
Thank you. This is why I posted this deal. It's an extremely solid, reliable machine which goes and goes and has a brilliant keyboard. Add in it's pretty portable too and it is a very decent little laptop for £200.
More false advertising!!
Bit pricey imho.
Not sure if you get the license, you'd think it would have the sticker on with the license key? I really think you'd struggle to find a better all-rounder for this price. This laptop came out at almost £1000 a few years ago. Great review here.
I bought a 3rd generation i5 2.6 quad core Toshiba with 8gb of ram and 1tb HD on Gumtree for 160
It does have bluetooth. Battery times are around 4-5 hours according to the reviews. And you're telling me that an SSD on "only" a 3gb/s connection will be bad? Will still offer very very good performance for £205 (plus £40/50 for an SSD, which obviously no laptop comes with unless you are spending much more money).
HP Business class Laptops 5 years ago had these things and more. If you paid the price, Some when for 2-3k

Ok bluetooth is a plus, battery times in reviews are optimistic and for brand new original batteries - these refurbs ship with them do they? I never said a sata2 limited ssd would be bad - don't take offense and totally misquote me. I said it would limit things - I run SSD's in sata2 and 3 machines - the same crucial drive in a SATA2 setup is obv slower than a 3 and it shows. Sure it's faster than a stock HDD.
I'd suggest looking out for one of the often repeated deals for a current / last gen i3 for around £250. They've been cheaper. Thanks to HUKD I paid £250 new for a second gen i5. Even lacking a time machine this deal is cold from me.
I've bought recon laptops before, and been given a new-like device with a full year's warranty, from Argos, PC World etc. I can't recommend this product given my previous experience.
I've got a lumia925
I had one of those. It was ~ £1100 new 4 years ago. You can get a docking station, which makes it nice and quick to connect up a monitor, keyboard and mouse. The batteries get a bit tired after a couple of years. Original replacements are expensive, but the cheap no-name ones on ebay last about a year. You can also get an extra one that sits under the case, and doubles the run time It ends up a lot bigger and heavier, but I found it nice to have 6-7 hour run time. It died just after the 3 year warranty expired, with a problem on the motherboard. It had had a tough life.
If you want good battery life, then you'd be better off with something more recent, with a Haswell CPU. This would be good if you want a solid laptop, particularly if you want a docking station.

Yeah...had 2 broke...mates was broken too and customer service are crap
my Samsung one still strong after 3 and half years
This is a business laptop deal
Correct - Mainstream support ends early next year, which mean there will be no more feature updates. We will be getting security fixes until 2020. This is why XP has only just gone out of extended support.
Failed when you posted that. Win 7 will get updates until 2020.
