Lots of people on here vote cold on things they aren't interested in or don't know much about. They don't stop to think whether it's a good deal/reduction. Some just want things that are really cheap too. Even though this is a good deal, they'll see over £100 and vote cold. (skeptical)

Avocado_KitKat

Came across this while looking for an airfryer and saw that it was a great price and really looks appears to be a fantastic piece of kit - Came to see if it was already on HUKD and couldn't believe it's cold! This community baffles me sometimes (confused)

Something smells fishy here and the reviews aren't so good either. One liner reviews on Amazon are always a bit iffy. Voting cold. Good effort though.

ZoopdyDoo

If you actually read the post I’ve put ‘initial’ price, the price of both before discount. Read the post and I’ve mentioned discounted price of £180. Just don’t buy it, but don’t post a different pan set as a direct comparison.

InitMate

170ish online not 260. Amazon exaggerating.

ZoopdyDoo

It’s a different set, lower quality - not just colour. Check the reviews on that set, I don’t think the aluminium wears well compared to the stainless set hence the initial price difference of £260 to £130. That set also won’t work on induction hobs.

InitMate

Black is way better and much cheaper.

For those still looking for this it's worth checking stock again everyday. When I first saw this post the day after it was created I checked stock and there was none at all in my area, but when I checked back the other day they had some in Chelmsford, unfortunately that got cancelled as apparently it had been sold before they could reserve it. Looked again at weekend and Colchester had some more in and finally managed to get one there. It seemed they were still getting deliveries of them, even if just a few in each store.

Only difference I can see with the Tesco ones is the outside is gloss black rather than speckled, the speckled ones do go white sometimes if you put them in dishwasher so these may be a better buy.

I've been happy with them but i would very much liked the Salter or Scoville because of the harder non-stick coating. The Salter frying pan I have will stand up to metal utensils no problem but I won't be doing that with these Prestige pots. But, of course, you need something to actually heat up before you start stirring or whisking, right? (lol) Dunelm only seem to have the three piece set ATM at about £40, I think. They had the 5 piece on offer for £60 but Amazon and everywhere else seem to be selling that for around £90.

JohnCullen

Thanks so much for your info. Was thinking of the Salter set from Argos but after your experience won't bother. Will have a look at the Prestige Dura set in Dunelm. Thanks again.

polar111

The phrase "your mileage may vary" could have been created for induction hobs and cookware, it seems. In my case, I could only get the largest pot to work on the largest ring and it was like trying to boil a kettle on a single Camping Gaz in a fresh breeze. Absolute crap. So, back they went and I bought some Salter pots as I have a couple of frying pans of theirs that work nicely. Of course, none of the pots worked. Not one. (lol) So Amazon get them back. Finally, I bagged some from Dunelm, 5 piece Prestige Dura for £30 less than anywhere else and they've been splendid. The crazy thing is, one of the best heating sets I've had was from Asda, £7 for three pots, and they heated as well as the cast iron Le Creuset pots I have. The only problem was the non-stick coating was literally non-stick to the metal within a few weeks. And some may be quite reasonably be wondering, "Hold on. You've got a set of Le Creuset, why are you bothering with anything else?" Simple. They are too heavy, too shallow and all of them except the casserole pot have a damn pouring lip which means they are only useful for simmering stuff. Hugely expensive, hugely heat efficient and I hate them. They are bordering on the worthless to me. :(

JohnCullen

Bought today, only the milk pan worked on Neff induction hob. Back tomorrow for a refund.

It's all appreciated from my end though. I want to hear good or bad experiences when looking at potentially dealing with a company's products. I've seen a few reviews like your experience on Amazon for the same set. To be honest, there's enough doubt now for me to not invest even £40 into the Jamie Oliver set from Tefal or anything else from them.

I found a nice pyrex wok, induction compatible reduced from 70 to 21. Ordered :)

So your message made me do a test...I have a 26cm Jamie Oliver sautee pan which is great but none stick is starting to wear a little. This 26cm pan was supposed to replece. I put a litre of cold water in each pan and put it on full blast. The Scoville kept switching the ring off as if no pan on the hob - totally cold. The instructions state that if the heating area is not big enough then the pan may not be detected. I decided to switch sides - as I have a custom heating strip at the left had side of the hob. This time the water did heat up in the Scoville - quite well though to get to aggressively boiling took about 1min 30 secs longer than the Jamie Oliver. I have one other experience that I think is relevant - I had a small egg pan which was ok but didnt heat nearly as well as my other frying pans - the coating on the base starting coming away after less than 12 months and then it wouldnt heat at all. My theory is that decent induction pans are made from Induction compatible material - these Scoville pans are aluminum and probably coated to make them induction. Thanks again for the heads us - I think it is going back despite it working ok ish on the big side as it is hassle to only work on one paricular ring of the hob and I suspect the coating issue will arise.

polar111

I'd be interested to learn of your experience too. I've just initiated a return for a Salter set delivered by Amazon today. (mad) No puns intended, but there seems to be some element of pot luck, some induction hob owners reprt they are no good, others have no problem. I couldn't get the smallest of these Salters to heat at all but the medium one would-but not efficiently and only on the largest ring area. The largest I just didn't bother trying. I bought a three pan set, not a pair, and I expect the highest setting to be ferocious. Both sets have dimpling on their base, though, and I'm sure that's the issue. I've got a set of Le Creuset cast iron with completely flat bottoms and they perform as well as you'd expect - but they're damn heavy! Ultimately, both Scoville asnd Salter are marketing pots as induction compatible which they must know, one would assume, are simply not compatible with all induction hobs and that it is the design that makes them so poor.

mgk

;( That's a shame...I've collected it already. It also feels a good solid pan. Thanks for the heads up...it would have probably stayed in the cupboard until needed if not for your post...will give it a try

polar111

Further to my post above, they are going back tomorrow. They are garbage on my induction, the first so-called induction compatible pan I've had a problem with. Two of the three simply won't heat at all and the third just barely boils water on the maximum setting. As soon as I transferred the water into the cheapest pot I've got and on the same setting, it started boiling like crazy. Very disappointed to find out they turned out so crap.

Brought a Scoville grill pan from George at Asda a couple of months ago for £9 - must say fantastic! Just ordered a frying pan from George online for £9 also! (highfive)

We have one of their larger pans and the lid fits our frying pan perfectly.

No problem with mine, have a full set and two of the large pots and they are fine. It might be useful to explain exactly what your 'problem' was.

They are regularly 'reduced' in ASDA, that's where we got ours for £30 and we swear by them.
