Really not the same, results are very different. Can be positive a steak/joint will turn out exactly as you want with minimum effort, assuming you are willing to prepare 12 hours previously!

Hmm....I always thought a oven did this

I have the same and just noticed it's on Lightning Deal right now £79.99 - lowest ever according to the camels

We (well, my other half) wanted to try a sous vide machine and we bought this, rather stupidly named, Wancle (note to car enthusiasts - not related to the rotary engine of similar name) Had it for 6 months - very good and reliable. EDIT: appears to be on offer at £80 for a couple of hours - quite happy for any reader to create a deal.

Cooked my steak last night with a sous vide...was lovely.

Korma and Tikka cooking sauces 440g at 3 for £1 in Heron Foods
Found 16th AprFound 16th Apr
Saw these Indian curry sauces at 3 jars for £1 at Heron Foods this morning. They are 440g jars and come in Korma or Tikka sauce. Brand is Horizon. Worth a try at this price?

Then dont go in & buy anything there.

Yeah that picture just screams "top quality" (skeptical)

ANYTHING in Heron is worth a try as it's generally top quality at a low price. HOT!

Heat for the find. Not for me though. I'm not one for coconut/yoghurt-based sauces.

Also, you can get an amazing adapter which turns it into a French coffee press!

They're excellent for boiling water and very good for cooking as long as you have the cooking adapter. Try cooking in strong wind with a cheap stove and you'll understand why these are not a gimmick.

Also can use code 10EXITVC for 10% off (y)

This has been mentioned to RUSSt before but clearly not taking any notice. Combining deals would be much better.

How is this not taking a liberty. Free book deal 1, done, free book deal 2 done. Why not just one post.... Oh yes I get it. Oh, and thanks for getting my last comment deleted, it was full of so much hate, anger and rage, just like this one, 14 expletives and 6 insults, just as good as the last. I'll be banned next.

Hmm, one not so happy HUKD single-star customer review posted today. Come on own up, who are you? "Copy and pasted stolen recipes from the internet. No pictures in a cookbook? And who is this Mattis Lundqvist? Do a reverse image search on his picture and it's just a stock image of a man with cat from depositphotos. There's a racket going on that's churning out these 'copy and pasted recipes from the internet' cookbooks under a variety of names. It beggars belief that some people will actually pay money for this kind of rubbish without doing a tiny bit of research. And as for the people on HUKD constantly posting these cookbooks as great deals is beyond belief." Where does it say it is a 'great' deal? It is free however, so take it or leave it. Where's the 'roll eyes' emoji when you need it!

Not sure baked beans or grilled mushrooms really justify a recipe

Bit daft, most of these things shouldn't contain much sugar anyway being savory and that.

450mm x 12m kitchen foil 99p @ Home Bargains
Found 16th MarFound 16th Mar
Decent price for the size. Not as thick as baco but not paper thin.

You sure this is a perminant price? I know its not the best quality but for basic oven cooking or wrapping sarnies etc its good enough and a good low price for the size.cant remember exactly but the shorter width 15 mtr roll next to it only had a regular price tag on it and was in it a few pennies less, maybe 95p.

Should be Available at all stores, permanent price

Is this the Salisbury Home Bargains?

Great deal - thanks for the heads up

Shao Hsing Cooking Rice Wine 600ml Bottle for £4 @ Asda
Found 13th MarFound 13th Mar
Bottle of Chinese cooking rice wine now on offer for £4. 600ml 14% Alcohol Online and instore
Get dealGet deal

Shao Hsing just means 'Rice Wine'. I bought a bottle today for £2.99 in my local Chinese Supermarket. The big one in Bristol underneath the Water Sky restaurant has plenty of brands to choose from £2.50 up to about £7. The Tesco near to water Sky sells rice wine for about £3. £4 is okay for Asda, I suppose.

Cooking sake and cooking chinese rice wine are quite different ingredients though. I'm no expert but I use this regularly to add a little sweetness and 'smokiness' to meat dishes, particularly stir fried minced pork or beef. (Pairs very well with chicken too as rice wine chicken is a fairly common Chinese dish). One simple recipe I use at home is: 500g meat (sliced, diced or minced) 1 capful of rice wine 1 teaspoon of Soy sauce (preferably from a Chinese brand like Lee Kum Kee rather than a westernised one like Blue Dragon) 1-2 teaspoons of Dark soy sauce (") 100g Chopped onions/peppers (this just enhances the taste - you can go without it) 1 teaspoon of Five spice powder Stir fry it over medium to high heat to evaporate the alcohol. Taijade. There are others, but this is one of the best in terms of depth of taste and quality.

What's brand is it? I can't see on the website and it's just a picture of an incredibly nondescript bottle.

Has anyone cooked with it? How does it compare to cheap cooking sake, which I normally use but this is half the price?

This particular brand isn't usually sold that cheaply though. £4 is a good price for it. It's a well regarded cooking rice wine brand.

I bought one of these last Autumn and am fairly happy with it. Some points: - It's cast aluminium with black coating, so much lighter than you'd think. - The chimney cap is so light it can blow off in heavy wind - ours did and scratched off some of the black coating on the patio, revealing shiny aluminium underneath. - The cooking grate isn't aluminum and rusts quickly. User guide says to ensure ash is removed after use as it can get damp and make it rust quicker. I actually remove the fire bowl completely when not in use and store it indoors. - The funnel part of the chimney will go a real rusty brown colour quite quickly. The metal isn't rusting, just the coating.

Wow thanks for the heads up guys on the impending reduction. This gets really good reviews so going to treat myself on Monday when I stock up on bog roll

We bought one of these last year in store for £100 excluding VAT. It’s incredibly well built and easy to clean.
