From your listing:

“1024MB DDR3 System Memory (1 Dimm) Max supported =3072MB”

From HP’s website:

Standard memory 1024 MB
Memory layout (1 x 1024 MB)
Maximum memory Supports up to 1 GB DDR3 memory

With 1 DIMM slot it’s not going to support 3GB so unfortunately there’s an error in your listing. Why do they cripple some of these Netbooks with only 1GB of RAM max? Even XP needs more than that if you use it for more than the basics.
With Windows 7 and more RAM it would look more interesting.

Suggest you ask the Wintel cartel ... Dearest MS & Intel don't want you eating into their margins by getting decent performance from a cheap lapton, now do they

There is an empty dimm slot, so it will support 3gb.

This is Ion LE (read Light Edition - i.e. not the full shebang).

As others have said can take 3gb, the 1gb is soldered on though http://www.liliputing.com/2009/10/hp...-upgraded.html

I'm disappointed this doesn't have the n280. A review I have read says the boot up takes 1 minute 40 seconds, but I suspect that's due to the crapware installed by HP.

Disabled DirectX 10 support on a netbook (running Windows XP no less) makes no difference apart from cost, not performance - as games are intended to be played on Netbooks except olders ones (written in DirectX 9 or earlier)

Many Netbooks support 2GB so I can't point the finger at Wintel for the ones that are limited to less than that.

Great to hear that and I did the wise thing and checked the User Manual:

1024-MB on-board memory and one customer-accessible/upgradable memory
module slot.
Supports dual-channel memory
Supports the following DDR3 configurations at 1333 MHz:

3072-MB total system memory (1024 on-board memory + 2048, dual-channel)

I haven't voted either way, but windows 7 is due out in just over a week and this should be released with that installed around that date. XP is rather dated now.

I don't tend to vote anymores, but I voted hot for this since some people seem to be voting cold...which is very odd.
I'm going to hold off though since I have a Dell Mini 10 *in progress* (if they ever deliver) and apparently post 22nd October HP will start to offer Windows 7 rather than Windows XP.
I'm someone who really liked Vista and would prefer Windows 7 on my netbook (without paying £65 for the luxury), along with ION and potentially 3GB of RAM and also the N280 Processor if they'll offer it.
