How do I record in stereo to my phone? The jack input is only mono mic...
Everyone says different things, a Lavry paper says timing error and "resolution" when downsampling but says 60khz is the magic number, depends who one talks to, numerous different opinions. THX and others are too busy beyond these old wine tasting cliches, feeding higher frequencies into their AI Neural Net architectures and making progress every year. In the film/tv industry, downsampling is the norm and why 88.2 92 96 and 192 are popular. Because when manipulated sp. in time and modified there is more room to play around to get the desired effects and also less residue.

The 'magical cartoonish threshold' of 44.1KHz is not mine, it is from a man named Harry Nyquist. You may be familiar with his work. If you aren't, you should read up on it; it's kind-of an essential if you have any interest in audio engineering.
For info on why that number was chosen look – HERE.

dxx
You should also read up on the ramifications of recording at above 44.1KHz.
Well it does increase the amount of storage required and the overhead for processing more data but what are the other ramifications?
No longer on sale. £4.29 although the icon still says on sale.

Let's see about the 30 years of his pro-European views shall we?
#towtheline

Actually, for most of his life, Jeremy Corbyn has been a Eurosceptic. Just yesterday Owen Smith was again asking if Corbyn really voted to leave the EU.

I don't like all of his policy stances, but Jeremy Corbyn is one of the most honest politicians in parliament who has stuck to his beliefs for decades in the face of arrest, going against popular opinion or both.
Honest? Hmmm, like saying he wants a kinder politics and he completely disowns any bullying, whilst all the personal details of anyone who disagrees with him are released to the Momentum brownshirts to do the violence and intimidation for him. Just like the mafia bosses are always seen at the opera whilst bodies of their enemies mount up in the back streets. Corbyn's team admitted that he *chose* to sit on the floor rather than sit on one of the many vacant seats. The only dispute is why: a) to make a political point or b) because he wanted to sit next to his wife.
"the personal details of anyone who disagrees with him are released to the Momentum brownshirts to do the violence and intimidation for him. Just like the mafia bosses are always seen at the opera whilst bodies of their enemies mount up in the back streets."
That's a very serious accusation so are you able to source it? And just in case anyone's interested for context, I'm a member of the Liberal Democrat party (as of post-Brexit), not Labour. Factual accuracy rather than hysteria is what's important if we have a chance of having a say in our country for the better.
And yes, it's true that he wanted to sit next to his wife. The story doesn't deny that. I don't believe that contradicts him experiencing what it's like for regular commuters on trains where there aren't seats. This is the same man who gets the night bus, rather than expensing private cars like most MPs do.
And in a country that regularly shows fervent anger towards MPs who love to skim the cream off the top of public finances (note: some, but not all of them) it's baffling how the one who's trying to stay in touch with the voting public is the one getting vilified the most.
Meanwhile, our unelected prime minister continues to direct the country with no mandate. Baffling.
All our prime ministers have been unelected (well, except by their own constituents who vote for them as MPs), the mandate is with the party that is able to form a government acceptable to the head of state. The method by which a PM is selected is entirely up to the party that has that mandate, there is nothing baffling about that.
Anyway, this site remains about good deals ...
I studied politics at degree level, I know how the system works on paper - but in practice, people don't vote for their MP and half the time probably haven't ever heard of them. They vote for who they like best out of the leaders of the part, whether that's the system or not, and second to that comes their manifesto promises. May wasn't the leader of the party during any election and has never put forward a manifesto. And on top of that, having no candidates running against her in the final stage of the leadership "contest" means that she is indeed unelected and doesn't have either a clear mandate nor do we have a clear idea of what direction she's taking our country in.
Good morn,
I'm not sure one needs a degree in politics to understand our electoral system (I have degrees in physics and in geospatial information, and I don't find it baffling at all). You claimed that Mrs. May was unelected and had no mandate; your assertions were incorrect and I explained why you were wrong. You don't like it much that you have been corrected (and by a physics graduate!), but you remain wrong.
Mrs. May's mandate to lead the country is exactly as strong as Mr. Brown's was previously (although thankfully those dark days are well behind us), the nation voted strongly for a Tory administration via its constituency MPs, and that arrangement still pleases our head of state. Mrs. May's direction for out nation is abundantly clear: it is out of the EU (that is what the country has told her to do via a most democratic vote). The rest of her policies remain those of the Tory party that won the election: generally towards a smaller public sector. Hopefully the current debacle in the Labour party will allow us (the country) to dismantle enough of the social welfare system to become competitive in the global economy and so prosper.
If you really are a politics graduate you should understand this well, and be aware that there is no requirement for the Conservative party to give you a say in its internal leadership contest (as there is not for the Labour party to let you choose its leader unless you are a member of that party). The reason for this is that we are happy with a constitutional monarchy with HM as the head of state, rather than a republic with a president.
Perhaps we can talk about physics next time?
O

If you were to have filtered out your misguided gloating, you could have saved me a minute or so of my life. If you can work out how we can make the most of wormholes so I can get that minute back some time once you've finished, please do come back with something of practical use for the first time on this thread.

Nowhere did I claim the system was baffling and nor do I remember "not liking" being corrected. As I've already told you, that's how the system works on paper but in practice, in the true spirit of democracy (rather than the rules and procedures laid down by law in this country), Theresa May is an unelected prime minister with a different vision and belief system to David Cameron's, with David Cameron being the leader of the Tory party at the time of the last election. Quite how you think the rest of her policies aside from the EU will be the same as his is absolutely laughable and shows you are out of touch with reality. Perhaps off in a different dimension, theoretical or otherwise.

Although you would indeed be right to say that May's mandate is as strong as Mr. Brown's, as Mr. Brown also was an unelected prime minister in practice and did not have a mandate in practice. So when it comes to laws laid down in my name that determine how myself and my family are to live, I'm more interested in what the reality is rather than the internal workings of the Conservative party.

Leaving aside the fact that I'm sure you would suddenly be far less enthusiastic about the EU referendum vote if Parliament were in time to reject it, despite the point that it would be a decision taken by our elected representatives, I suggest you take your condescending inferiority complex off to study Einstein's theory of relativity: Disappear into space - and about time too.

Have you actually read the story?
There weren't seats when he got on. The seats that looked free were either reserved or had bags on them. That's been verified by fellow passengers.
Either you read a site that didn't carry that part and just repeated what Virgin trains told you (they're trying to not make themselves look bad - that's strange, isn't it?) or you didn't read the story properly and are just repeating a headline.
Either way, don't ever wonder why it keeps feeling like the more-polished politicians keep pulling the wool over your eyes and you can't quite figure out why.
To be fair your interpretation of the story isn't exactly what the story says either, so the question could equally be thrown back at you. I would say that expecting two free seats next to each other when you haven't reserved them is a bit much wouldn't you? Fine if you then want to sit in the corridor, but he also used it to make political capital. Virgin of course wants to look good in this situation, but let's not pretend Corbyn didn't try to make the most out of it also.
A Corbyn source said a handful of seats had been available, but not two together, and the Labour leader wanted to sit with his wife. As a result he, his wife and team were among a series of other passengers forced to sit or stand in the corridor.
let's also not pretend that the issue the stunt is trying to highlight, is a good one? It's not like he just had a go a richard branson cos he ate the last profiterole at a gala once.
Corbyn has embellished the truth to highlight a true problem that he wants to change. Saying that he should have booked tickets in advance is utterly ridiculous because it's irrelevant to the bigger issue, the point is the privatisation of (what should essentially be) a public transport service.
He is doing it by the powers of deception though. He is no different to any other politician.
I'm afraid all you've proven there is that you literally have no idea what you're talking about. If MPs were as bad as you seem to think they are in your head, this country would be a mess. To which you'll no doubt reply "it is!" And yet we live in one of the safest countries in the world with high living standards (and yes of course, I know that's not the same for literally everyone but you won't be able to show me a country on earth where it is).
On top of that, there are plenty of decent politicians who work hard for their constituencies and for their country.
And that's before we even get to Corbyn's "deception" which it very much looks like it wasn't, despite reading (and repeating) headlines alone suggesting that it was.
Nope sorry as ive said i regularly travel out of kings cross on virgin trains during rush hour if he wanted a seat he could have got one. Unless you do the same then it is you who has no idea what they are talking about. I have experienced this first hand. FACT.
Are you for real? You're saying that (assuming you're even telling the truth anyway) because you can find a seat on your train, everyone can? Even though there were witnesses from the public who were doing the same thing?
And this is before you even address all the points I actually made, or that alfiesred47 has already made on whether you can personally get a seat when you travel? Does the fact that you can somehow mean there isn't a big problem with overpriced, understocked privatised rail in this country which Southern Railways alone proves there is which Corbyn is rightly highlighting here?
People like you are the reason we don't have better governments than we do.
Indeed there is a problem with certain privatised rail companies but the government should cap their profits and restrict price rises until performance and customer satisfaction improves, the government have the power but they don't make the tough decisions! Renationalisation of the rail network is not the answer in my opinion because the government will not reinvest the profits made back into the rail infrastructure and it will just be like the 80s all over again, trains not running, strikes and antiquated railway stock. One can state that car tax is now based on an emissions tax but when it was a road tax if the government had invested all of the money generated from road tax then we would undoubtedly have the best Road network in Europe and probably the world.
Whilst bearing in mind this site is about good deals...
The concept of re-nationalising the railway companies is of course just silly. It would cost billions for any government to buy back all the operators contracts, and of course governments only have the taxpayers' (therefore voters) money to spend. All the time the Labour party continues to have poor leadership and silly policies we will have Tory governments, which of course can only be good for the nation as a whole (so in that respect I'm a strong supporter on Mr. Corbyn).
Your point being? Lots of people express their opinions on deal threads. I'm not the first and certainly won't be the last!

I think you understood my point very well: that we have strayed a long way from the point (which was a good deal - remember).

I have been with talktalk for more than 2 years & have had no issues. I didn't have a good experience with Plusnet & SKY, while had wonderful experience with Virgin but unfortunately they don't provide service in my area.
I had some issues with my broadband speed & talktalk even paid me to buy a Netgear Router, so can't grumble, so far no complaints.
Talk talk charge extortionate rates for call to other countries on both their mobiles and land lines so can't see the advantage of this unless someone can illustrate otherwise
you can get calls from your home Line forward to your mobile free!

When pressing back button enough times inside the app, it exits the app to (Nova) launcher but for me the music keeps playing. It works fine and keeps playing after exit, whether I entered the app via a widget or the app icon. Pressing HOME button also exits the app to launcher and keeps playing the music just fine too. If probs, might be a conflict with some launcher or app that executes launcher function types.

excellent player, very similar to the eleven player for cyanogen which stopped working on my phone so this is an ideal replacement. I hated poweramp the look and feel of it is awful IMO.
I know it's only 10p but you can download cyan apps then install eleven player from there if you want a very similar app for free ;)
Cyan apps contains adds, no thanks
doubt it, never had any ads pop up. plus the whole point of cyan(ogen) is to debloat phones......

It says it does right there in the play store listing "contains adds"

well as someone who has actually used it I can say I've not encountered any
Best way is leave feedback in Play:Store app, and describe prob compared to poweramp and ask the dev to fix it in the next update.
Changed over to this but 1 day of using it it stopped unplayable track. Is there an option to auto skip unplayable tracks or im going back to poweramp very annoying

Epic sales pitch, I'm wondering if you work for the seller? No other deals posted before.aybe I'm just too cynical for my own good.
HAHAHA, NO I AM A 16 YEAR OLD WHO HAS A KNACK FOR WRITING, AND FOUND THIS PHONE AS A BUDGET PHONE AND A PHONE WHICH I FEEL PEOPLE NEED TO BE EDUCATED ABOUT AS THEY ARE LARGELY MISSING OUT.
You do not have a knack for writing, believe me.
Decent deal though.
That feels a little unnecessary.
Really? The kid argues that he has a gift for writing but then uses block capitals with frequent grammatical errors and punctuation mistakes. He was going to find out the truth sooner or later so it may as well have been now.

A comma after the words writing and later would be more grammatically acceptable.

If you are going to essentially police something, then you do have to be perfect when setting the example.

I actually think you're wrong.

Google Duo - New Video calling app from Google - for iOS and Android

"You also allow Duo to periodically send your contacts to Google"
What exactly are they harvesting (name and numbers or everything in your Google contacts)?????
So the app knows which of your contacts are able to use it.
It can do that simply by me allowing access to contacts. Question is, WHY does it SEND your contacts to Google?

So you have access to your contacts but google don't. How on earth are they supposed to know which of your contacts are signed up to the service and can accept a video call? Trial and error at the point of making the call?

The chocolates taste disgusting lol.
As promised a write up and pictures of what I received. Flowers arrived today. They were ordered for tomorrow as a guide but I am not to bothered as its for a Thank you rather than a Birthday etc. They look good. I would not say amazing but quite good for the money with this deal. I got two of these. They are £29.99 each on the site. I paid about £22.98 inc delivery with the credit and extra. They were delivered by Royal Mail in a green box. Flowers arrived with an ice like packing to keep the flowers fresh. Also includes plant food etc. A printed personalised card is attached to the flowers and this package included a small teddy bear, a small Thank you balloon (can pick more) and a 200G box of praline chocolates. See these pictures and judge for yourself:

I contacted groupon yesterday.
Just had an email back today 'assuring me the watch has the HRM'
So I guess I'll just wait to see what I get.
I think I am being hopeful as everyone seems to be very confused on this item
It's still a good price but I can't help feeling a little negative as since buying the watch groupon have changed the description from cardio &music to just music.
It does still have the model number in the specifics of the cardio and even mentions the heart rate element
We will see!

I had that HRM assurance too. Ordered mine a few days ago haven't received it yet.

I like the concept of its teaching method. It makes learning fun for children and adults alike.

If a group of five can get together and take advantage of the offers then it is great price for the individual. All 33 language for £10 is not a bad deal.

Minimum spend? One voucher per table?

Had to wait on the voucher for the T&Cs of it. Just seems standard... Not to be used with any set menu/offer... Must purchase two main meals... One voucher per table... Can't be used at airports.

I'm not a huge Frankie and Benny's fan (except their breakfast... Love their breakfast!) but with a tenner off I'll stop by.

These are the scales I've been using for nearly a year (to track weight loss) https://www.amazon.co.uk/BalanceFrom-High-Accuracy-Digital-Bathroom/dp/B00G15O1QM otherwise I'd buy these myself! :D
What is so special about them??
The other scales (from Amazon) which I linked to have good reviews about their accuracy, they are simply "vanilla" weighing scales, not like this Yunmai.

Can't comment on the Yunmai app as I don't have those scales :p

If you've missed Pokevision you'll love this, GoRadar for iOS on the App Store!

GoRadar on the iOS App Store only, is a free app which is more accurate than Pokevision! Like Pokevision it shows the exact location of the Pokemon around you, but this shows the exact time to the sec…

Tried in the city and is fine thanks

Yup I just downloaded it after seeing this app thinking possibly Niantic missed this however it's not showing any Pokemon near me in North Wales. I think it showed 2 in Llandudno for a brief moment then went off. Does it require users to alert it of Pokemon or something?

I've noticed that it works far better in city centres.
Not showing any for where I am at the moment but, did go up to Glasgow and can see many Pokemon, went over to Edinbrough as well and shows them.
So then came back to Tyne and Wear - definitely shows them in Newcastle and Sunderland. Although none near my house in Sunderland. None at all in Chester-le-street currently. But, does seem to work for now, so will keep an eye on it and see if anything appears here because most of the Pokemon apparently disappear at 11:03 from the ones I did look at.
Don't know about this. In Glasgow and it's normally fairly full, but nothing showing in the usual spawn sites pokevision showed. Will monitor

Cold now, numerous places near me but no offer! :(
I'd have given it a go if people weren't stating that their codes agent valid when they tried to redeem.
Tremendous I've used this offer twice already over the past 2 months. Free beer what's not to like.
People seem to vote cold... Why... It's FREE LAGER!

so to disable a 'smart' alarm system you just cut the phone line on the outside of the building before breaking in.......
Depends if your phone line comes in via the wall or ducts. Plus, if you were that worried, get a router that also has a 4/3G backup.

Don't conventional alarms also use a phone line? Only this system doesn't require a monthly subscription ;-)

No, conventional alarms use an external 'alarm' to make a very loud noise. Monitored systems that use a phone line alert you when the phone line is down.

I've looked into these recently and believe they would be fine for a flat but wouldn't want to use it to protect my house. An alarm is primarily a visual deterrent, so if you do purchase one I would at least get a fake box to mount on the wall outside the property. I'm also not convinced how well cats & dogs would get on with this.
Personally I'm leaning towards a non 'smart system' that will phone on alarm, for example:https://www.amazon.co.uk/Yale-YEFKIT2-Easy-Telecommunication-Alarm/dp/B00B8UR6LM
A few additional pir/door contacts plus a few IP cameras should be more than enough.
I did my research, looks like it will work well with my cats. It has a perimeter setting so it won't register movement, just doors opening etc.
That Yale looks nice, but it's nearly twice the price ;-)

I don't know what it is but sometimes whenever I see a big bright round yellow Yale alarm been mentioned that it just sort of screams right in your face like you can't not bloody see it + I find it looks damn bloody awful. I understand it's meant to be a visual deterrent & to protect your property but come on, do you really expect burglars to be blind as a bat going out scouting for targets or go out in the dark without a torch in hand. I think Yale needs to tone it down a bit on the colour or scale it down a bit.
