Any iphone apps compatible for passport photo?
    Bicawi's avatar
You don't need an app for a passport photo. Just get someone to take a picture of you with your iphone. Instructions are on the Passport Office website. None of my family have ever had a problem doing this and when you apply online for your passport and upload the photo it immediately lets you know if it's acceptable.

My tips for passport photos.... take a photo go to remove.bg remove background and head to idphoto4you.com/ make a passport photo on 6*4 size ie 8 photos use an online printing like snapfish. Costs you less than £2 for 8 photos. (edited)

Passport photos should not be edited in any way, including removing background, is my understanding.
  3. xane.ra's avatar
Why would you need this? Just take a normal photo of the documents and show when needed. Hate to thing if the app gets hacked and your identity becomes a sale.
    maxymalny's avatar
This app helps you to create a portrait photo of yourself, which you can print and use for the passport/driving licence, ID, etc.
It is actually very helpful because different countries have different portrait photo requirements. Thanks OP

I just step inside photo booths and snap the photos with my phone… works perfectly every time!
  5. ian18's avatar
Just take your photo with the camera against a plain background for your passport etc.

No need for a separate app.
  6. b1g1an's avatar
Best, and totally free, way to get a perfect photo is go to one of the booths in a supermarket or wherever and press enough options on the screen to get the lights to come on, this happens before you put any money in. Then get someone to hold a phone flat against the glass panel facing you and take the picture. You get a perfectly lit, no shadows etc, pic with the correct background, no editing needed.

As said the passport site does the cropping for you.

Those machines also have settings for the other types of photos that some countries etc require.

That's all well and good but what happens if you have a severe health condition which limits or stops you from going out especially in the colder months and you need a photo urgently? Just pointing out where this app is useful

    Chocolate fireguard...

You can take a passport photo with any phone, instructions are on the passport application site (dot gov - ONLY use the official site, others will take a few where none is needed)
You upload it live, and a computer immediately tells you if it's acceptable....
    Don't get ripped off folks
  8. wbmkk's avatar
    A friend used .. idphoto4you.com/

He then took his phone to the local photo company, paid 45p and had 4 passport-sized images in a matter of seconds.
  9. djdelmar's avatar
How thick are people that you need a specific app to help you take a picture of yourself infront of a blank background?

It's really not difficult and all phones already have camera apps...
  10. cbflazaro's avatar
Why all this "how to remove background". Don't people have a 50cm wide piece of empty wall on their homes?
    yahoohx's avatar
Each country and all sort of IDs, visa have different requirements for specific background colours.

It is not just any empty wall will be suitable for all. (edited)

I used this recently to renew an expired passport. Works perfectly for what I needed it for. It shows exactly how you need to take the photo and automatically removes the background. Passport was fully approved.
  12. Skullzrulerz's avatar
    Bit suspicious tbh...
  13. nosherfj's avatar
Did passport renewal a week ago online and it is easy stand against white wall we'll lit room and take a selfie with your phone. Send old passport back recorded post and takes 2-3 weeks from initial online application to get new passport back. I went for the 50 page version. EU travel means less than 6 months on passport they get 😁 (edited)
    spinach_pie's avatar
I found it a nightmare in my house. Lighting creates shadows etc. And they are rejected if not perfect
  14. hot1805's avatar
I tried the remove background app and it was too obvious. White sheet over a door and took a normal photo on my phone. Approved by the passport office.
  15. DH1201's avatar
Idphoto4you let's you create 8 photos on print and take to boots and printed total less than 50p (edited)
  16. micronX7's avatar
Worth having in the library even if you do not keep it installed.
  17. philbean's avatar
    Completely pointless app now.

You do not trim your digital pic for a passport application. In fact, you're not allowed to edit the photo in any way. You just upload it to the gov.uk site and their software trims it for you.

All you need is the camera app on your phone.
    XYZ787's avatar
Pointless? How? Does the gov.uk website allow to edit size and other requirements for other countries as well?
  18. TightAss123's avatar
    Seems suspicious to me.

    Does abit to be fair

I just used my selfie cam and a white door to do my passport photo last year, no app required !

So is this going to work in all the pubs, bars and clubs? :/
  23. gsj87's avatar
Not sure why you need this for a passport, I applied for a new one yesterday off my phone. Took a photo off my phone, uploaded it, the website trimmed it itself and job done.
  24. AdrianPetrache's avatar
    Just use your phone app?

can you only download on google play?
not app store for my iphone?
  28. santhom's avatar
Cool app, does the job & also generates the print copy with multiple photos (edited)
  29. bilbo333's avatar
Excellent for a pro version with no annoying ads.
  30. Sledgehammer2021's avatar
My daughter got a cheap ring light one Christmas which she no longer uses. Brilliant for taking passport pics with.
  31. Chz's avatar
Seems a good idea for countries that let you upload photos. Not particularly useful for some primitive countries (*cough* Canada *cough*) that require you to have the photo professionally printed and stamped and signed anyhow, so you might as well have them take the picture too. (edited)
  32. poopoopeepee's avatar
Just get natural lighting (face a window etc), use an ai site to remove the background from your photo, then use that
  33. MarcinLDN's avatar
My small concern about this kind of apps is that some of organizations does not allow photos to be digitally altered (by for example changing background) often is not recognisable but not sure if I want to take a risk.
In the past I used idphoto4you.com/ and find nice background in the house.
    ima's avatar
My friend has an Samsung and can delete backgrounds to leave it white or black and it worked perfect for my kids passports. While I have a iPhone 15 and the rejected my picture 4 times so not happy with iphone

So many identity thefts after this.. so so many..

  35. yahoohx's avatar
Does this app has a version for iphone? I searched in app store and could not find any app with the same name.

You should have gotten an Android phone

For those concerned with app stealing identity, just do simple thing to turn off wifi/data whilst using the app or block it from having Internet access. App still works offline. Problem solved. Don't bash a good app which has a purpose as many have highlighted.
