I've noticed my post from yesterday was deleted, can I just ask why mods felt the need to get rid of it?

I'm assuming it's because I pointed out that most Morrisons stores do not use halal meat, as another person claimed (his post has also been deleted) However I was simply informing as this is something that some people may find influences their decision whether to buy a product or not (in fact someone did say they weren't aware that Morrison's uses halal meat (they generally don't unless in certain stores, in which case it will be clearly marked) which was also deleted, and was the reason why I thought I should inform anyone else reading this)

I am not entering into a debate on here about whether or not halal meat is acceptable, but I simply wanted to help people get correct information. This post will probably be deleted as well judging by my previous one, but if it is can the mod who does please message me to explain why?

they probably don't like you

What % fat is the mince?

It should be around 5% as it's made from 95VL beef trim (VL stands for visual lean, meaning it has been judged by eye to be around 95% meat)
Not a great deal, priced about normally just packaged together.
What % fat is the mince?
their chicken is of poor quality

well looks like deal soon be over, as I got 24 boxes in total over 4 days
before mistakenly asking freezer guy f had any more, and him realsing
even though Tesco website said £5 label said 50p guess few 00s left off lol
so my 24 boxes cost £12 when in actuality should have cost me £120 haha

or in asda at £6.99 £167.76p and no horse meat in sight neigh!! way lol
yas212
Didn't think Colchester would have a kosher section. This would be gone in seconds where I live
not so much a kosher section as bottom end of freezer, with ethnic food in it,
same as Sainsbury's has a shelf in ethnic & American foods aisle lol

HantsShopper
Why cold? Seems a bargain to me. :D
same as last time I posted kosher, think you commented on that deal as well
milk munch bars for 10p, but glad to know you not hold same bias views lol
That's a good price, heated added!

I get the Iceland 2kg for a tenner and they're from Poland, so there seems to be a lot of chicken factory farms in Eastern Europe. Just saying!
Tapasman
We offer a premium quality chicken fillet which is sourced from selected European farms.
There's just something about that statement that would make me feel a bit uncomfortable buying these.

They come from Romania and Lithuania.
I think there were issues with their last deal, i'm going to get removed from the mailing list if I dont hear from them in 24 hours.

I bet it was the HUKD tool that destroyed your link - it does that quite a lot. I do appreciate you posting, I bought 5kg + a 1kg steak - bought their chicken before, love it, thank you! :)
bayhabourbutcher

you need to take into account minimum order value - you cant just order 1 x 5kg chicken

if you order 2 x 5kg chicken then the delivered prices are :

musclefood = £39.95
livelean = £41.85

assuming its fresh chicken with no added water & salt then thats looks like a pretty dam good price

its worth noting that the offer is only for the first 5kg the 2nd one you pay at normal price but its still a good deal for fresh chicken

the price is close to the cheapest value frozen breasts you can in the supermarkets & apparently they have loads of added water & salt eg see http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2519822/Secrets-supermarket-frozen-chickens-pumped-water-additives-cement-mixer-style-machines.html

cheapest frozen chicken (lots of added water & other additives of course) I have seen is from iceland at £3.33 per kg i.e.

unless I'm.missing something, i agree with you entirely. the frozen stuffs is pumped full of water so you only end up getting about 600g after defrosting or so. this is really good quality stuff meat and the breasts are huge. it does disappoint when people follow the heard or vote based on misconception, but hey it's a democracy right... unless it's 5% off a game with a Facebook like or free superdrug delivery.

Bad site, bad products and the worst customer service. Buy Local, eat fresh.
not that i disagree with buying local... if you can get the same or better deal..

but i cant say i agree with the first three parts of the statement... i wonder why so many people dislike muscle foods... i genuinely dont get it... i only get the chicken and turkey burgers though.. maybe you've had some bad experiences with other products?

Don't like the type of meat they use because of its origins namely method of slaughter. Cold from me.
Do they use halal?

I doubt they use halal on pork meat, as pork is forbidden in Islam.
But chicken or beef, they probably do, halal meat is cheaper than non-halal.

Im sorry to hear that you have to be in such a position but, it is still a choice. You are in a situation where you have chosen University over work. People should really think thoroughly about their decisions. You may have a passion for something which is why you are studying in uni but, if you are struggling to cope with your environment which is mentally effecting you, I suggest you drop out and climb a ladder from a low position. Besides this just a site for deals so just gives it heats up or down.

I do not believe it's a case of choosing university over work, but a step towards it. Am sorry, but you have no idea what ladder they have climbed to simply get into university in the first place. I can only assume uni is another step on the ladder to help get a job. If everyone dropped out for your reasons I believe the universities would be close to empty.

When at uni I worked at sports direct and I was happy to have a job that was flexible around uni and term dates despite its faults.

If people to choose to work there, then it's choice. Same goes for people who complain about working at Sports Direct.
Great price. Great deal. Heat.
We don't choose to work there we have to. I have worked at subway for 3 an a half years and applied for many jobs but non offer the same amount of hours you can get at subway. We work to barley get by

Wow, that mentality. "We have to work there". I wasn't aware that Subway staff were treated so badly they had loaded guns pointed at their heads when made to serve. I'll certainly be looking out for this next time I visit one.

Lad do you know how hard it is to get a job nowadays to support yourself to get you through life, I'm currently studying at university and in my final year an this is the only income I have and 1500 has to go towards rent and then I have to buy shopping, then there's Birthdays, (some have been missed because can't be afforded) commuting, stationary for university, hell I even have to pay for the **** paper from the university for my essays and reports. This is not the job I want for the rest of my life and I am trying hard and sacrificing a few years of my life in order to secure my future. I am thankful that we live in a country where there is minimum wage to afford general necessities but we are not all in the same boat to get the privilege to have doors to jobs just open up in front of us. So before you think about being a **** smart ass again, think about the underprivileged.

Their "Premium" chicken is awful. Not trimmed, blood, bits of .. I think.. windpipe. See pics. Don't waste your money.

Tried to get in touch. Their phone was out of service, they didn't answer on chat and haven't responded to email. Can't see them lasting with that kind of service

I always find Frozen Chicken to have a high water content, and is very bland in comparison to fresh.

plus, factor in that you can't (shouldn't) pop it straight into the oven

these are full of salt and water, Aldi's mid range are 100% chicken which is worth the extra pennies. I personally go for the Iceland fresh stuff for £10 which gives you 9-10 good sized breasts.

quite often chicken is left on the trolley after delivery then when someone can be a*sed then they will go into the chiller or fridges. Often you find the chicken smelling bad. ***You should ALWAYS wash your chicken with salt and vinegar + water***
No you actually never wash chicken !!
why? if you dont splash the water, cleaning it would be a good idea... especially all the remaining blood and exess fat on there. Salt and Vinegar is a good cleaning aid.

Covered in a slime a funny colour and they'd had bits trimmed off them almost like dodgy bits had been removed.

10kg fresh at my local butchers is £20. Tried these from farmfoods before and there very salty.
£2 a kg for fresh chicken breast fillets is EPIC , where abouts is your local butcher and who are they , definitely worth a mention on here with that deal . I've just ordered 60kg to be collected at the end of the month from a fairly local supplier and I thought that was good for around £180 (£2.99 kg) ;)
Me too...I'm after 30kg plus ...Any decent wholesalers /butchers near in Portsmouth that could match this

good find op, heat added
Rather pay a bit more and buy fresh and not pay 30% for the brine that it's injected with... And then frozen... Horrible stuff.

rather odd since the consensus amongst professionals is that it in fact tastes better. but then what do 'experts' know eh.
Post facts or shut up with your rhetoric. Looking at the post rating it would seem people are sick of posts with religious overtones, my advice to people who don't eat Halal is GO TO YOUR LOCAL BUTCHER sorry for shouting : )
if you dont like halal why are you even here other than to troll?

See I didn't write that I was well aware of that very fact that you mentioned. Nearly all meat you eat is certified as halal. And I do not agree with it, just because they find it easier to mass produce. It is as offensive to me to eat mass produced halal meat as it is for a Muslim to eat non halal meat. It's harder for me to avoid halal meat than it is for a Muslim to find some to buy.
The shoe fits both ways. Again your last comment sums it up, why does it matter that meat must be halal? It's about time religion was taken down from the golden pedestal it currently resides on.
Do you mind if I ask how halal offends you? I find it odd, as an agnostic halal is irrelevant because I don't believe in the prayers said; when it gets to me there is no difference between halal and non-halal meat (or kosher for that matter). I assume the prayers somehow go against your own beliefs? But then your last statement wouldn't make sense, unless your beliefs were non-religious but against religion? It can't be animal welfare, having been in a slaughterhouse I can tell you it's horrific whether the prayer is said or not!
Anyway, your issue is with meat suppliers. Its cheaper for them to make it all halal so thats what they do. Vote with your wallet, use your local butcher. They need more trade, yet with the amount of people scared of halal you'd think they'd be laughing.
Let me ask you a question, since you are attacking someone who is simply asking for non religious meat. Why is it religion is placed above absolutely everything else?
Why is it ok for muslims to demand halal meat, but not ok for a non Muslim to demand non halal meat?

First off I'm not attacking you, I'm generally confused as to why halal offends you. You aren't religious (or at least you've not mentioned here that you are), the chicken sure isn't religious, and it still dies no matter what. The prayer means nothing, it is completely irrelevant unless you choose to make it so.

Secondly, you are just as much in your right to demand non halal meat as they are to demand halal. Again, I can't fathom your reasons for not wanting halal as its the same chicken regardless of the prayer, but you simply have to use decent local suppliers rather than supermarkets and you'll rarely encounter halal meat. Its up to you, its an easy decision for you to make.

If you disagree with a companies practices you either stop using them or you suck it up and carry on, the choice is entirely yours. If you buy cheap though expect halal, as that is cheaper for them to make rather than two different production lines that then need to be labelled separately.

Muscle food has gone expensive lately especially for chicken so I've stopped using them, 12 months ago I was buying 5KG of chicken breast for £19

I found the quality isn't what it was either!

Quality is shocking, they state a long list of Premium Quality Guarantees and the order I received was the opposite, the breasts even released a vast portion of water during cooking and shrank considerably... Many blood spots, lots off excess tissue (really badly trimmed). Would rather buy from a British Butcher, spend money on what I can see, approve and although it may cost a little more, at least I won't be wasting money and funding someone's new yacht.

I bought these for the first time a few months ago. they shrunk to about half the size when cooked. They were inedible due to the overwhelming salt that was added.

Was supposed to finish today.Poster down in my store. The whole thing was a joke. I went in several times over the week since it was on but very, very small space always empty! Typical Iceland with their deals. Failed yet again.
I got this 500g pack for this price day before yesterday and it was tasty and good. In taste - Definitely better than butchers shop chicken.
Local shop's chicken cost a bit more like 5.50 £'s per kg and 2 kgs for 9 £'s.

Where do you buy these 5kg packs?

Looks like bookers which is a cash and carry. I think they're referring to frozen chicken breasts.

They are fresh - I freeze them myself at home
I do exactly the same, £20 for a 5kg pack at my local butchers and the wife will freeze in portions, most economical way forward I think.

halal no thanks....
It's a thumbs up from me.
Get one bit order between family / friends. Heat given ;)
max daily order limit was 30 kg of these chicken fillets when we placed our order last weekend , we added 5 bags of movo dishwasher tablets (around 7p/8p each if I remember correctly)
Can recommend the dishwasher tablets too , easily as good as the fairy ones we normally use and better than the basic finish tablets.

You can't tell people not to factor in whether it's halal or not, they can have whatever opinion they want. X)
What he was trying to say is all these people that are against halal already buy it thanks to your supermarket not making you aware that you are. So why overall should it make a difference. But each to their own.
Ive yet to see someone actually post a link to something to show why this isnt a deal also. But as I am guessing no one can beat this price that may be difficult.
We may as well expire this and I apologize for offhandedly trying to save people money.
You can't tell everyone they are wrong or ignorant rofl.

Relax about the deal, I've posted loads of stuff that's the cheapest and it gets cold votes, that's just how it goes. Other things you will post that you don't expect anyone to care about and it gets lots of heat.

Not worth getting stressed about buddy.

It is a shame you wouldn't get this cheaper than this price but I guess price doesn't make a good deal.
Price is good per bottle kg but they've got a limited audience.
If you posted a deal for Pringles at 80p a tin it's 20% cheaper than anywhere else. It should get heat, however if there is a caveat that you need to spend £75 on Pringles to get them then only a couple of people would be able to, or want to buy that much, therefore there's barriers to purchase and so a cold vote.
Also it's halal, which many people object strongly with on ethical grounds.
Maybe if posted postage costs and absorbed that cost into the price so that people can compare how much they're paying per 5kg it might stand up to other deals that are online.
The Halal thing shouldn't really come in to it, all of the chicken in the supermarket is Halal they just don't advertise it in every area.
JJFoodService is designed to sell to Pubs, Restaurants and Takeaways so the £125 is to stop businesses ordering a small order. You can pick up a smaller order. This is a reasonably good price but the trade price is usually around £35 for 10kg of the large fresh chicken breast.
You can't tell people not to factor in whether it's halal or not, they can have whatever opinion they want. X)
Sorry I meant comparing price. I am not trying to tell people what to eat! :)

hot but do these breasts come from mutant chicken as they are so cheap?!
yes , they come from the lesser spotted 4 breasted chicken ;) . had these before , great value imo
I tried them for around six months solid and the quality is very hit and miss. But more times than not they were very rubbery and an unusual aftertaste. But when They are good they are very good and excellent value

Edited By: cadmus on Dec 09, 2016 20:45
I've had these before and when cooked they don't actually have the texture of chicken, they feel like you're biting rubber
If you pay £5 for 2kg of chicken breast expect garbage, fair enough if this doesn't bother you or is necessary price wise for your budget, however don't expect good meat and kid yourself other wise, quality and welfare wise this is junk IMO.
we use these all the time xxx there brill and great value

I have ordered turkey hamper from them before and this time too. Increased order to include a ham and bacon, never ever had a problem, always nice and everybody remarks on the quality.
Only reason people have a problem with Romanian chicken is the reason it is brought usually, for the price point. This is because it's cheaper to produce over there.

For a company which seems to promote a healthy option I am disappointed they cannot source UK chicken.
Think Musclefood must be feeling the pinch with the poor Euro to Pound as I've not seen any good deals on 5KG+ deals for months. I normally buy 10 or 15KG but all the offers lately have been meat hampers and I can echo the view of #13 above, the chicken is good but the steak is quite poor.

All delivered chilled, special box packaging that keep it at fridge temp (roughly 2-5 degrees) for 48 hours, and it's a 24 hour delivery timeslot. So this can be put in a safe place if you are not home, and is still at the correct temperature when you get home.

I have my meat delivered by these. Comes in an insulated bag with ice packs all in a box. The ice packs are always still frozen on delivery and have not had any trouble with any of their meats. The chicken breasts are large and very little water from them. They are delivered by Royal mail. Pity my freezer is full otherwise I would be ordering this.
I have never ordered from this company before, other fresh products such as raw milk I've ordered have come with frozen ice packs and insulated boxes. Do they delivery themselves and use a refrigerated van I wonder?

The description says "Higher Welfare Standards" so hopefully they will not be hal al as I was disgusted to see that after a recent refurbishment in my local store that they have added a massive hal al butcher's department.

Morrisons always used to say that they had their own slaughter houses and had the highest regards for animal welfare. I will have to carefully check that all the meat that I now buy from them to see if it is labelled as hal al or not but unfortunately meat that may have been tortured in that way is not always labelled as being hal al.
