Looks fake to me although impossible to see without a shot of the bottom...
In what way does it look fake compared to an original zippo ?
The corners compared it with a couple I own...
The corners look identical to every other pic of this Zippo in Google images.
Do you own a zippo compare yourself, better still take the gamble and buy one....

I do actually. Picture looks like a genuine Zippo, there's nothing about it that looks fake.
Personally i wouldn't want this design, but its a good deal.

Doesn't look like any of mine and have a few but hey ho...

Superb items - buy two, and stick one in each pocket - toastie...
Now £15.27:(
I've got one of these and I can't get it to work. Follow the instructions but just goes cold. They have great reviews though so don't let me put you off.
I know it's probably not doesn't mean I wouldn't worry about it.

I'd buy one for the wife on dogs walks but she's got hyper sensitive sense of smell so she'd probably moan about any smell.

Great price though hot!
Rich44
I'd be too worried about it leaking & setting me alight lol
Don't think that's even possible...

Great deal and good timing as I recently left my zippo in a cab in Sheffield.

if you scroll up the thread someone found one in cab. lol :D
It seems that this Zippo Cllection has been suspended for the foreseeable future as the follow message was on a card with my package of issue 6 and 7.

Dear Reader,
Thank you for collecting ZIPPO COLLECTION. Unfortunately we have had to suspend publication of the series for the foreseeable future. We would like to be able to advise you when the series resumes and send you your copy of issue 7 free of charge. Please fill in your details below and post this card back to us. We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause. If you have any comments or queries, please do not hesitate to contact our Customer Services Department.

Once again, thank you for your support.

Yours faithfully,
De Agostini
sadly issue five has not turned up at my local news agent and they cannot say why, i was hoping i would be able to collect the whole set, i hope these lighters will not be discontiued.
I've subscribed 3 weeks ago. So far Issue 1 - 4 have arrived including the free gift. No money has been taken out of my account yet. Avid Zippo fan but does anyone else think they are cheaply made? The effort of the motif and design on the zippos seems so bland and cheap compared to the memories each issue is to represent. Thoughts?
FrancisBacon
The premium collection is £1.50 per issue from issue 2 onwards so the 'free' 4 city lighters and case cost 79x £1.50 =£118.50
The total cost of the whole 80 issues collection is £1574.20 for the standard collection and £1682.70 for the premium collection.
If you want 80 zippos that you haven't chosen together with a shoddy (allegedly) display case and magazines which are padded out with irrelevant information then you should invest in this collection.
In future years, given the limited edition nature of the collection (they are limited to millions worldwide) your investment may be worth a fraction of what you paid. So as good as stocks and shares then!
Of course, I may be the only one in the entire world to pay for the entire collection. In which case the dilemma is, do I buy 2 so I have 'brand new in box' as well as the displayed ones? £3300.00+ tough choice.
I'd buy 6 - one day these are going to be as valuable as items from the Franklin Mint. Or H Samuel. Can't go wrong! ;)

go on to the zippo website and you will be able to order from the start and cancel when ever u want :)
Looked everywhere for this but still can't find it!
Yep picked one up today, certainly won't be paying 19.99 for future ones and issue 2 (9.99) isn't really to my taste but a nice zippo for a fiver is too good to miss, in fact my daughter has just decided she needs one for her cadet kit so looks like another trip to the news agents tomorrow.

Any good deals on fuel? Used to be priced well on Amazon but has shot up recently

I use "Bull" brand lighter fluid from poundland. Works a treat. I've had the same bottle for about 2 and a half months now. Still got some left.

I bought some Swan stuff recently and it's nearly all gone already. Might give that stuff a go though, cheers.

got one of these from a city center shop few weeks back for £1.30, so don't know why it says on Amazon
£11.60-now £1.00. before you get a new wick, get some small pliers and pull the old wick out a bit and cut,
can do this a few times before need to replace, learned this from Youtube.

yes its was shame realy as a great price ... but they only £20 on the uk zippo site anyway

i would of sent it back for refund but amazon said there was no need and have already sent email refund , i did test it and it just keeps going out so it will be binned

I guess I'll expire this, don't want anyone else to run the risk of getting a potentially duff/dangerous hand warmer.

because of quality and packaging "made in Taiwan" (sticker was on package) is not where Zippos are made , the one i bought directly from the UK Zippo main site was made in Bradford PA USA

Fair enough.
Was it the same Amazon seller etc?

Seriously, a hand warmer?!!

If you read the post and the reason I found it/posted it... then it might make sense.

Perhaps you live in a tropical climate where fishing in December means your hands sweat from being in balmy temperatures,

But as you're looking through hotukdeals I'm going to assume you live in the uk where December/January/February fishing can't be a particularly chilling experience.

This site really confuses me sometimes. The average price for this over the last 2 years has been £11.30 for the black - http://uk.camelcamelcamel.com/Zippo-40286-Hand-Warmer-Reflective/product/B005MIM8U0 and £10.40 for the chome - http://uk.camelcamelcamel.com/Zippo-40182-Handwarmer-Chrome/product/B0034C6GDG?active=price_amazon&context=similar
I guess it depends on whether you consider a 'deal' to be the best price available at this second or the best 'deal' it has been relative to the average 'normal' cost. Regardless, a handy little item (I have two) but I shall wait for a bit as this is currently the highest price charged at amazon for the last 9 months

Welcome to HUKD, nothing here makes sense. Just try a few minutes in MISC and be baffled, tree fiddy.

As far as I've worked out over the years there are several distinct voting camps

1. It's the best price anywhere currently therefore it must be hot
2. It's not the best price it's ever been but it's been cheaper before today but cant be gotten. so today it must be cold
3. It's cold regardless of what it is.
4. It's hot/cold depending on if I like the poster
5. The poster has made a hash of posting it so it's cold even if it could be a hot deal.
6. It's the best price currently and ever has been but this is better so this is cold.

So HUKD summed up in 6 statements.

Deals baffle me at times as I've seen deals where the first post is by someone else saying it's cheaper elsewhere (at a reputable store) but yet the new worse deal gets more heat than the original.

To add to that there is also the deals that are
- If it's an iDevice, current kiddy pop band or z list celeb item it's cold regardless.
- It's instore tesco deal
- finally there is the it's posted at the wrong time of day deal that will end up going hot or cold because it's been voted that way by more than a few people.

If you do manage to work it out.... please tell the rest of us....

Can confirm it is defo £40 minimum spend. Email customer services and they confirmed it!!
Signed up to this last week and it's definitely only a min £25 order for groceries - i found that it didnt state this anywhere & i thought it was £40! Was between tesco delivery saver (as it was cheaper on half price) or asda but we use asda for nappies and i think they are cheaper for essentials. So much better that it is min spend £25!
This is a good deal. Most people spend more than £40 a week on shopping. Now we can avoid the scrum that is the weekly supermarket shop.
[helper]
yvetteclifford
I have the £8 a month pass with asda and that can also be used on George clothing and asda direct and the minimum order is £25 so if you know your going to order lots in a month might be a better option than tying into to a 3 Mth pass ;)

Exactly why I posted it before it hit the press!

Even if you spend £10 on grub, £20 on direct [hukd only!] stuff and £10 on clothes a shop it is worth it, is that a lot for a family??

I use it a lot and will continue to use it a lot until the offer expires, the 2 drivers are now on first name, have a cup of tea basis as they have been so much with suff :-)
nickster78
Groceries only need to total £25 it's £40 for the direct orders.
If correct, then it's really incompetent of Asda not to spell that out; it will lose them sales for this pass. They just say (here and here) a £40 minimum spend.

Is it good. I just watched it on youtube. Thought it would be good for the coming winter.
I done pick up at store for free and collect it tomorrow from my local store.

I don't know to be honest as it was a present for someone for when they go fishing in the cold weather and strangely it has been quite warm this summer lol. It always seems to get good reviews/heat on HUKD and the only niggle seems to be that it can be a pain to get started at first, but some people put fluid on the catalyst and knacker it up after a period of time.

Cheers. I got it for work and football grounds.

I'm, not 100% sure but I think it is also recommended to use Zippo fluid (cheap on Amazon)

Yes, recommended by Zippo themselves..... they have their stuff made in a special refinery and put extra octanes in it.
They are great as a gift for people who have to work outside in poor weather conditions especially at this price, the last one cost me about £13. But this was a matt black. Heat from me!

Nice to see this company is still breaking postal regulations by sending lighter fluid through the post. :(

That regulation was changed.

No, it hasn't been.

This includes mixtures of liquids or liquids containing solids in solution or suspension which give off a flammable vapour and includes acetone, benzene, cleaning compounds, lighter fuel, paint thinners and removers, petroleum, solvents, varnishes, enamels and nail varnish removers.

You're right, I stand corrected (said the man with the orthopedic brace on his leg)

I've had Zippos for as long as I can remember, and I can't say that I've ever seen any difference in performance between Zippo fluid and other fluids.

However, since you're such a distinguishing buyer, you may be interested in some snake oil I have for sale.

NP and I totally agree, theres a big difference between these genuine zippo fluids than the cheap £1 ones... Theres also the fact that it's getting delivered and the cheapest lighter fluid I can find is £1.79 a can on ebay and its not even zippo... anyway let people have their own opinions :)

do these use the liquid fluid like above or the compressed gas like a normal lighter? would have thought the fluid would evaporate like a normal zippo

nope, normal zippo stuff, secret seems to be from what everyone is saying, only fill it for the amount of time you want it to burn, it doesn't look like you can put it out.

You can easily put them out by taking the burner unit off the top, it's a bit fiddly when it's hot but easily done one you master it (best tried when cold a few times till you get the knack.

The above video gives a good idea of what to do

madcal87
Purchased it and now I am concerned if they are safe to use inside a tent overnight because of the Co2 released

As for the output of gasses, its a catalyst so not burning in the true sense. CO2 is produced but even indoors in a well ventalated area it's safe to use. As for a tent, I'd probably avoid that unless there is good ventalation.

http://www.ehow.co.uk/how-does_4968359_catalytic-heaters-work.html

The process of it's working is explained here, while that relates to gas powered catalytic heating the principle the Zippo uses is the same.
Thanks, been looking to buy one of these for awhile. So I just bought 2!

I guess it's cheaper atm because of the summer coming and the football season being over.
ok cool thanks - tempted too :p

Great warmers. To stop mine burning till it's empty I put it in an empty tobacco tin and snap the lid on and it extinguishes itself in a minute or two due to the lack of oxygen. Might grab another at this price. Cheers op.
6 hours?

When filled to the maximum using the small measure I have easily had over twelve hours out of mine. Are you putting them in their pouch and closing it tightly then putting them in your pocket? That is what I do.

In my experience the polished ones seem warmer than the matt black (I have both)

So is being a self-righteous muppet.

Sarcasm is clearly way beyond you.

Good luck to you sir.

Actually, it's beyond the written word, or at least your use of it.

Are you serious? How can my phrasing and supplementary troll face be interpreted as anything other than sarcastic?

I pity you if your approach to others' writing is completely numb to nuance or subtext. Especially when it's barn door - I practically threw it at you! And you're wrong if you think that sarcasm simply cannot be conveyed in writing.

I can't believe how much credit I give people on the internet. Sorry, I've wasted my time.

Guys, you do know that smoking is, like, really super bad for you right?

A lighter isn't only for death sticks

It ISN'T? Well f**k me.

People buy Zippos to light BBQs? Or burn effigies?

Interesting.
I use them in conjunction with petrol to set fire to self-righteous morons.

You should probably be in prison then.

I have these great handwarmers.

They're called "gloves".

"gloves" are not handwarmers but are merely insulators!
Semantics

Before putting gloves on = hands are cold

Put on my gloves = hands are now warm

Therefore, they have fulfilled the role of "hand warmer"
I love it when people like you make comments.

Thanks

You're a great member.

No hot deals in 6 years. Where would the site be without you?
Damn, you did a background check on me. Scarrrrry oO.

And yeah not posting a deal is so much worse than knocking deals people put an effort posting with silly comments like "use gloves". I might not be lucky enough to find deals to post but I do contribute by supporting ones other people make.

Same here!!
I have never posted a deal but I have benefitted from others doing just that.
When I feel it appropriate, I also comment on deals.

Just because we have never posted a deal does not make us bad people :)

Fill the appliance resorvoir directly from the fuel can. If you're experiencing difficulty lighting, place a few spots of fuel onto the catalyst and away you go.

Great spot OP - just ordered for our handwarmers - also got a graphite model zippo handwarmer for <£12 whilst I was at it as my wife seems to have "borrowed" my chrome one.

We are both due some heat - I shall be able to hold mine though!

Regards,

White
Just ordered some for mine and my other half's hand warmers seems a good price thanks :)

I would rather pay that little bit extra from the safety angle.

What safety angle do you mean, surely fuel's fuel and this is as flammable/dangerous as any other?
Thanks for this
Thanks Angry_B. I've just managed to find my old tin & it's the same. So it can safely be used with hand Zippo handwarmers. Heat added. :-)

Got mine, the quality is HORRENDOUS!!! mine had scratches on it fresh from the packet and the lid just will not stay on. The bag is rubbish too very disappointed.
I have returned mine and ordered the chrome one from "Amazon" as the seller.

Actually I think you have to allow it to burn all the fuel. Mine has no off switch.

You do, you measure out the required amount of fluid for how long you want it to burn for.

Once u light this does it have to rub till the fuel runs out? Or can u turn it on and off as required?

Heat (controlled!!)

Yes....

Well done for answering yes to a multiple choice question.

At least I gave an answer, and it was correct :p

Tested mine for the first time today & I'm really pleased with it. I think the bag is also an air (oxygen) restriction so that the element doesn't get too hot. Although it's good to take the heater out of the bag and watch the element glow for a while. Still going after 9+ hours :)
Just got mine and it took me half an hour to open the packaging! Some strong plastic right there lol

If anyone does buy one of these, I recommend gently warming the whole device prior to lighting. Stick it on a hot radiator first. This helps get the gas up to temperature so it evaporates more easily. Then light with a conventional lighter. I recommend buying two (one for each pocket!)
Agree. These are great. There's a bit of a trick to lighting them, but once they're going they run for 10 hours. My wife and I use them while watching sons play endless rugby and football matches. Highly recommended. Better than anything else I have ever tried. Heat added as great price.
These are superb, bought two last year for the Mrs, great quality

Bought one last year but feels cheap compared to the peacock range of handwarmers.

It appears that the Zippo handwarmers are half the price of the Peacock ones on Amazon.
I like the Zippo handwarmers...I like the Peacock handwarmers.
Which is best?
Fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight!!
Got one for Christmas, excellent bit of kit! Heat! (No pun intended)

I got one after this thread http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/zippo-handwarmer-12-91-delivered-free-amazon-1382703 a month ago

However, the weather turned mild as soon as I got it, so I haven't had to use it yet

We sell these where I work and at cost to me it's £15 so good price and they are good the only down side is if you use it a lot you will use a lot of fuel but they do last about 12 hrs

Thought the idea was good, but unless I'm mistaken my colleague got one and said that once you light it, that's it - there's no stopping it until it runs out of fuel? Can anyone confirm this. Seems very strange to me.

Got my hubby one of these last year for xmas. He loved it and kept him quiet for hours!!!
I have one and it does remain lit, but if you put it on something it isn't going to burn - it's a very gentle heat. Less heat than from holding a hot cuppa for instance, so I wouldn't worry about it being lit all day.

Really like the black one (mine's chrome), but there again it doesn't really matter as I keep mine in the pouch, as it stops my jeans smelling of petrol.
I can confirm that once lit they don't go out. I always have trouble lighting mine but once going will keep your hands warm for on average 20 hours, depending on the amount of fuel you put in.

They also have the matte black version for under 2 quid more. I know its more expensive but if you don't wanna scratch it up so much and think it looks better in black then that could be good for you :-).

You're supposed to keep it in the pouch during use, so it wouldn't matter if it was bright pink. (pouch is black)
