Many thanks for this, I had a booking for the 23rd of August. So I rang them and got it £60 cheaper :-)

Who did you ring? Hotel or Thorpe park?

Does the shark hotel do family rooms? 2 adults 3 kids???
I've stayed here and have been told all of the rooms are the same size and layout. Our room had a double bed and a bunk bed. It is far from roomy, but it's adequate for a few people. With 3 kid's you may need two rooms, which you can add onto the package like I did with my mates.

Thanks for the info mate

Correct based on hotel stay for TWO plus 3 course meal.. £50.00pp = per person x 2 so £100.00
Incorrect, minimum spend total is £100. You get the £50 room rate when you spend a minimum of £50 in the restaurant. It's not based on the number of persons.
I am correct.. The price is £100... My response said "based on" as in giving an example.. sort your life out saddo... If all you can do is troll around looking to cherry pick you need to find a hobby ! Also when you cherry pick get it right !!

Why the insults?

You were wrong, and are still wrong. I was just clarifying the deal is not based on two sharing.

So please keep your insults to yourself.
Wow, good find. Heat added, thanks op!<3

It is a fantastic place to visit and we go very regularly. There's easily enough here to keep young kids entertained for a whole day. But as mentioned despite the park and enclosures being well kept the pens are very small for the animals they house (the white tiger pen for instance is only slightly larger than my back garden), which as a spectator means your always up close and personal with the animals, but it does leave you feeling a little sorry for the animals. I suppose you have to balance the conservation benefit of housing and breeding these mostly endangered species vs the individual animals freedom.

If you want a guilt free animal experience, my favourite Zoo's are Whipsnade and Durrell, with Chester coming a close 2nd.
The trouble is it is best to visit there on a sunny day. Most of the exhibits are out doors or you have to walk between each one to get to them.

Also the animals are not daft, if it is raining they stay hidden in their hut. There is a mini train that tours the park but does not stop at each exhibit.

It is very good exercise/workout walking all the way round. Just make sure you take spare batteries for your camera and a packed lunch and drink. There is a speedway museum as well there. Well worth a trip but better in the sun.
Although it's a good deal, I'm kinda torn with this place. I went a few years ago, and although it's incredible to see such wild creatures in the flesh (snow leopards, white tigers, etc), I felt so guilty when I saw the lack of space they had. Granted, it's not half as bad as some zoos, but I just don't think some of these creatures should be kept in 100m x 50m cages when out in the wild they would likely roam for miles and miles every day. Unless there is some kind of breeding programme going on, although to my knowledge, that isn't the case.

I won't vote either way, but just make sure you really appreciate these animals if you do decide to visit!

Ah yes, the 92 mclaren (if my memory serves me correctly), that was a dog too. Luckily they had Senna driving it to get some but not many decent results. Heat added, fancy seeing all them cars.

Should buy Ross Brawn and his aerodynamic working group a couple of tickets, to see if they can work out how to improve the ability of the current F1 cars to follow each other.
Look at the complexity of the wings - it's a plank. Not a multi-fanned concoction that ruins racing today.
Why is there min age 18? Does anyone know please?

They could take that McLaren in the picture and put it on a track now and it would still be faster and more reliable than the current one!

Welcome to sunny Bournemouth. well it is today anyway . bye the way make sure you don't need the toilet when you're sightseeing this fab town because our wonderful council has closed most of them 8)

That's what I like about the USA, you can stop in the middle of the desert and there's a damn toilet there. I think in the UK because of the weather, people venture out less and so councils think they can skimp on stuff.

All the cheaper prices are during school term times,Can't believe parents take their kids off school to go to these.
Well if you lived a area of abject poverty enclosed by council houses and no open countryside nearby and a £90 deal come up, you would too be booking, don't judge others based on your situation base it on theirs and offer advice from experience if you can.
Divide and conquer Tory manifesto in full swing!

think you answered you own question, why.
Couldnt find anything at that price.Cold from me.
Voted hot, I have children and will not take them out of school however each to their own. My reason is simple they need to respect the rules of school and when they are taken out we as parents are saying is 2 fingers to school and in turn our children will hold on my parents are sticking 2 fingers up its OK for me to do the same but that's just my opinion and I'm sure most will disagree.

Kraft/Mondelez should be ashamed of themselves for what they've done to an ethical company which used to make a quality product. Not the first time they've done it either and probably won't be the last. Still, I don't suppose they have any shame genes in their greedy corporate bodies!

I buy Aldi chocolate these days - much better than the latest Cadbury branded stuff and a lot cheaper too.

Edited By: Besford on Apr 06, 2017 14:03
Here's an artist's impression of this factory tour after the Mondelez International takeover of Cadbury:

http://pbfcomics.com/archive_b/PBF153-The_Golden_Ticket.jpg
Cold! They removed the word "Easter" from Easter Egg Hunt.
We had a lovely stay at this hotel with tasty breakfast & we had a great day out at Cadbury world too. I recommend it!
So, it's good if you are 6.
Otherwise don't bother seems to be the consensus.

And yes Kraft have killed Cadbury, be it the taste of the chocolate or the social conscience of the Bourneville ideals.

good offer, just need to decide on hotel now, needs to be with swimming pool for kids
Have just booked this as we wanted to visit the space center and needed a hotel room anyway - what a bargain! Booked the Marriott and going to visit the space center and twycross - you can use your voucher for the 3rd attraction any time up til the end of the year so we can always have a return visit :)
We have done this a couple of times. Its well worth the money.Stayed at Hinckley Island and Leicester Hulton. Just check the pool opening times and what time children are allowed in till before you book to see which suits you best if you are going to be using the hotels pool.
Also, At the Hilton Leicester I went with my children aged 10,13 and 14 and you are only allowed 2 under 16's in the pool per adult...so we had to tell a little lie and say my son was 16 (it's a good job he's tall).
Twin lakes and Twycross zoo are fab...we weren't impressed with the space centre or Stoneleigh family farm..although I do think younger children would enjoy the farm.
We stayed at Hinckley Jury's inn which was great. The pool is being out of action until April though so it was a shame we weren't able to use that. Our boys are 5 and 8, and we did Conkers, the zoo and the space centre. Absolute bargain when you add up the entrance for all the attractions and a lovely hotel, we would do it again. It would be great if they did similar offers elsewhere.
Did this last year and is well worth the money even just for the attractions! Stayed at Sketchley Grange Hotel which was nice.

The cheapest is 49 euros, per person, per night, in a tent.

EDIT: Correct me if I'm wrong, but even in the pictures linked by OP, it is ~289 euros per person for 3 nights. Click continue and it all ends up being 1k+ for 4.

Looks excellent, but don't go expecting to get a sun lounger ...
Do you know where this saying came from (I think Only Fools and Horses?) as I have never seen Germans nicking all the Sun Loungers ever, just curious if it is based loosely on any fact, or just the 80's UK Humour of taking the mickey out of the Germans?
I think its based on observation in mediterranean resorts, basically Germans are more likely to get out of bed earlier than the British. :)
I like to think I'm not "-ist" in any way.
But the classic holiday in the late 80s/90s was you'd go down for breakfast, the poolside would be totally empty, and every single sun lounger would have a towel on it.
When 'we' (ie, normal people) started to go on holiday abroad it was a complete eye-opener. They'd leave their towel on, go out for the day and then come back at 4pm to sit on the lounger....and then repeat the next day.
I think 'normal' Germans were going on holiday before 'normal' Brits and were just more wised up.
So while it might sound a bit Alf Garnet, it was born out of reality.
Hotels in the 90s started to implement policies where towels left for hours would have them removed.
Then when I started to go on holiday with my mates around the same time we'd just throw them in the pool.
I've not been on a package holiday since the 90s...no idea what it's like now.
So, you are a normal Brit and were throwing towels in the pool, so what were the un-normal Brits doing?
I was 18 and fuelled with lager and righteous indignation.
Towels left for hours offended me, so I justified the throwing in the pool by saying it was for 'poor kiddies and old ladies' so they could have a sun lounger.
tanjawest
cant get it for that price? x
Me neither?
So refreshing to read peoples' views on it here! Been wanting to go there for a while now, but reading nearly exclusively negative reviews from German visitors has made me shy away more than once. Maybe I'll finally give it a try!

booked a holiday using the codes, being told that the entertainment passes (which on my email from Breakfree state OPTIONAL) are infact NOT optional, but I can decline them (?) - and that I will NOT be able to access any entertainment (obviously) but no access to Bar/ Restaurant/ On site Shop/ Outdoor play area either, if these are not purchased. Seems extreme!! I have declined the passes for one of my bookings as it is a short stay, but if someone can clarify if your passes are needed for the play area, shop etc - for any site, I would be very grateful.
Not sure if it works like this at all parks, but certainly for Haven and Park resorts, it works like this....
The entertainment passes will automatically be added to your booking, but then when you get the invoice from the park operator you can simply drop them a line and ask for them to be removed.
On arrival at the park, they will probably try to flog you some passes but again you can decline.
Without passes you can certainly get access to most facilities - Pub, Shop, Play area etc - Obviously you can't access the pools or show-bar, but everything else should be fine.
What you will probably find is that in the evenings they will have somebody checking passes at the entrance to the show-bar. Sometimes due to the layout of the entertainment complex, the person checking passes might be at the entrance to the complex (where the arcade machines are etc). Though from my experience if you explain that you don't have passes and simply want to get to the arcade machines / pub etc, they'll just let you in.
A couple of times with Haven I've had the passes removed, but they have still included them anyway for free!
To be honest if you're worried it's not really an issue as you can have them removed from the booking, but then when you get to the park if you find something you can't access, you can always pop to reception and they will sell you some entertainment passes.

This pretty much sum's up my experiences of cancelling the entertainment passes on over 40 of these holiday's.

I've never been denied access to the shop or the children's play area, but there are some parks where the only bar and restaurant are in the same open plan room as the stage, then it's off limit's unless you pay for the passes. Most park's however are more than happy for you to spend your money at the bar and in the restaurants (it's where they make their money out of these deals), so including entertainment passes even if you haven't paid for them is in their interest.

Doesn't say anything about not weekends in the small print.

My favourite holiday destination but give Castillo beach bungalows a miss unless you're on a very tight budget and defo don't waste your time and money on the transfer shuttle option because a taxi will have you in the resort within 10 minutes and about 13 Euros.

Thank you! Just booked Glasgow for wedding anniversary 29th Dec.

4 of us stayed there last month for 2 nights, worse nights sleep ever! we had one room above the bar/nightclub so kept them awake until 1am whereas our room overlooked Pitt street (where the old police station is) & it was constant boy racers from 7pm until 5am! hotel have been aware of this problem for over 9 years but nothings happened.

Yes, I saw this on TA. Have requested room at back and fingers crossed for no Thursday night parties! Cheers :)

It's a good deal if you want the freebies.
But we book secret escapes deals for London quite a lot and if you keep your eye out the always have the 5 star Grange St. Paul's or 5 star Grange tower bridge for £130 a night for 2 adults and 2 full breakfasts . So 2 night weekend is normally £260 with breakfast and they are pure luxury 5 star . And virgin direct train from the northwest is just 2 hours for as little as £38 pp , cheaper than fuel money !!!!!

I would really appreciate the info on where I should keep an eye out for such great 5 star deal?

As I said in comments secret escapes !!!!!!
Red Devil PJB
Good deal but be aware, this hotel is nowhere near Ealing really. It is just off Hanger Lane which is where two main roads, A40 & A406 meet. It is quite busy (trafficwise) & industrial. There are a few places nearby (Royale Leisure Park is 10 minute walk and has Chiqitos, Nandos, bowling, cinema, Burger King and good old KFC!) but it is not the nicest area! Although given most will spend the mainstay in London it is close to tube and considering what is including I would say this is hot for those from outside of the capital

At first I assumed it was the doubletree on ealing common and that you had the location wrong - but yeah, everything that you said. Safe now, but my brother got mugged at knifepoint in that leisure park in the 90s, noisy and not pretty these days, but if all you need is a (presumably nice) room that's next to the tube, goferrit.

we've stayed near this hotel in a holiday inn we had no problems with the area and felt safe walking to and from the tube station.

Stunning place, stayed there about 5 years or so ago. I was told it was a little older than Dubrovnik itself and it was easily as pricey if not more so.
Had aome amazing yachts in the little harbour, some with string quartets playing for the guests onboard!

I stayed in Cavtat for ten days last year, it's a stunning place to visit, you can easily catch a water taxi to Dubrovnik for a few pounds and there is a regular bus service too. We love Croatia, it's a beautiful country to visit and amazingly cheap to eat out etc.
I go to Croatia every year and I'm still finding hard to find "amazingly cheap" place to eat. Never mind Dubrovnik which is together with Split, the most expensive place in Croatia. Beautiful yes, cheap no.
What about weather on April? How warm is in the Dubrovnik? Thanks

I live nr there. Not alot there to be honest, close by there is Delamere Forest (for Go Ape etc). You could also then catch the train into Chester or drive (use Park and Ride as Chester is expensive for parking).

In Northwich there is Anderton Boat lift.
kelsall? nothing there.
Kelsall? I never thought of it as a getaway destination. Just down the road but also, just kelsall.

Absolutely love Budapest, me and the wife go every year as we live near Stansted so its easy to get to, as has been said previously so much to do in the city, food is amazing, booze is cheap, pint of beer and large white wine was just over £2 you can Uber all over the city for cheap and even get one from the airport. We stay at the Corinthia Grand Hotel Royal and I manage to get it for ~£100 a night and its an amazing hotel with a lot of history.
PS: If you go make sure to check out the ruin Bars dotted around the city!
Any good to take a 7 year old to in tow?
depends what sort of fun you wanna get out of your holiday, lol. Of course is ok with a child of that age provided he is a good walker, if he start to complain then you ruin your holiday

I do not think they do braces in Budapest unless you willing to travel often (then would be expensive), but yes in London. I know they are cheaper than these sharks in London. Get in touch with them: https://www.vitaleurope.co.uk/?gclid=CMKGlfvB880CFckaGwodWy4IOg

I wouldn't recommend the Cambridge Belfry. The spa is just treatment rooms. You get access to a pool & small gym but it was very busy when I last went & not particularly well maintained.
