Not sure how this works . Is this just one way and you book another trip to get back from Hamburg?

Yes one way, and then you can book a flight back (as in the OP) (edited)

These ive read have a pretty rough rowdy clientele as have become the new booze cruise so may not reflect a longer cruise if your using it as a taster. Great price

Yeah I've been on quite a few MSC cruises last few years ; but recent sailing on Euribia and it was like being at a holiday camp unfortunately (with no school holidays in the UK actually on..)

Adults getting utterly smashed and heckling the big band singers/players, kids running on the theatre stages during acts, loads of people just vaping all over the ship even in MDR, watching kids take entire pizzas or serving trays from the buffet and runoff with them, adults jumping over the bar in buffet to serve themselves, fist fights over the pool table use, even saw some Sharpie pen graffiti in the corridors , etc etc
    - such a major change over past MSC cruises (staff basically just took a step back all over and stayed in serving roles instead of entertaining friendly ones, captain/senior crew didn't appear once for whole cruise even on gala night, not even on the intercom system )

I'm no snob, I take the premium drink package all the time and every hour is cocktail hour for me but even I was totally shocked

It's understandable why MSC are moving the newer ships away from the Northern Europe UK serving itineraries for this and next year and bringing older ships to the routes instead - it's literally become a cheap as heck all inclusive holiday for UK family's in comparison to our previous classic/native offerings for such groups (edited)

Do you have to have Schengen visa for this?
    Dave_dave69's avatar
"You do not need a visa for short trips to the EU or countries in the Schengen area if both of the following apply:

    • you’re staying for 90 days or less in a 180-day period
    • you’re visiting as a tourist or for certain other reasons"

Can anyone tell me what time we would need to be out of the cabin on the 14th and also what time we would need to be off the ship? Is it possible to stay on board for lunch and a few drinks (would get the drinks package for the trip) before heading to either the airport to head home or staying in Hamburg for the night.

You are given a disembark time.. always usually before 10.30am.. so you would need to get off so they can turn the ship round for the next lot of passengers

Yes, decent. Seascanner might have another code in a couple of weeks though, which could bring it down

Great deal poster. I'm definitely going to do this for a cheap spring few days away

Might even use this as a cheap one way trip to Hamburg and fly back at a later date (edited)

We've been on Euirba, its a nice ship. The only thing I hated on the cruise was their stupid AI lifts, you could run the stairs twice over by the time they actually arrived. (If you're not limited by your mobility I'd fully recommend using the stairs, you'll save so much time over the cruise VS waiting for the AI lifts) Or use the panoramic lift. (Not as slow) (edited)

Agreed, is mostly a nice ship. Personally preferred the virtuosa, which did the rounds last year.

Gatwick to Southampton is ok on the train but not Stansted really or Heathrow as have to go through London for return if collecting car.
    axum's avatar
Why would you need to go near London if you flew into Heathrow ? Just get a coach back down to Woking and train from there..

Was very interested in doing this but after reading many of the experiences here, I'm going to absolutely avoid this.

Bad experiences with MSC or SeaScanner?

don't expect to do anyting in Hamburg on Sunday, did the 7 day version of this back end of Jan, Hamburg is like a ghost town on a Sunday, also city centre is a long way from the port!

£ 174 good price for a family of 4 during Easter.
  14. extonjoe's avatar
only kicker is that you have fly back into Stansted from hamburg and then get back home using public transport which was difficult as we had a late flight which was delayed significantly
Getting to southampton was also epic (edited)

Does anyone have suggestions on what to do in Hamburg? I was thinking about taking the train to Berlin, but open to what people recommend.
