Went last year with my older teen daughter, had an excellent explore of the city, made are way to plaszow concentration camp which is about 3 miles south of Krakow, it's now a large public park but still has some remains of the former concentration camp, and if you head over to the quarry area you can also find some remains of the movie set from Schindler list. Including the stables etc. and just a few hundred yards away is krakus mount that has excellent view of the city from the top. No charge to do any of this as it now a large public park. If going for a few days or more I recommend getting a 48 hour or 7 day Krakow transport ticket for all zones, only costs a few pounds, this allows you to jump on and off all trams and buses for the timed period purchased, and can even be used on the 301 or 902 but to and from the airport, and also the 304 bus to Wieliczka Salt Mine etc, the trams are also a great way to tour the city.52506264-dctAO.jpg52506264-ex0W1.jpg52506264-PO9D7.jpg52506264-Mlt1r.jpg

You can also see Göth‘s house at Plaszow. Scarily, it is now an occupied family home. Spielberg got the layout wrong in his movie. The terrace faces away from the camp. (edited)

Just a heads up - there are running events on the weekend of 13th/14th so there will be some inconveniences (especially with the Cracovia Marathon on the 14th) and the town will likely be more packed than usual. Most of the main old town square will be fenced off for the event on Sunday.

Great city. Plenty to do in 3 days. All walkable. Great restaurants too.
It's only a few quid in an Uber from the airport too.

I was going to say, Uber is definitely the best way to get around. It was dirt cheap last time we went.

Lovely city with lots to do but me and my asian ethnic friends experienced a lot of racial abuse there and a few shops refused to serve us which was a shame and taint on our trip.

I lived there as an asian for a year doing my postgraduate and never had any issues … great place and great people. (edited)

Krakow felt too touristy and expensive for me, I much preferred Gdansk/Sopot even Poznań,  often cheap flights with Ryan air and accommodation via Airbnb, can also fly to Berlin as those flights are cheap and take a bus into Poland check out Gorzów Wielkopolski if you’re into Speedway. take cash and exchange it there better rates unless you use the Revolut app, Milk bars are probably the cheapest places to eat for authentic Polish food, and shooting clubs are worth a visit they are everywhere.

What a nonsense comment. Poznan, Gdansk, Wroclaw & Warsaw are no cheaper then Krakow. Flights & accommodation are no cheaper. Suggesting flying to Berlin then bussing it to Poland is beyond parody. Take Sterling & exchange it there? Hilarious! Please people, ignore this embarrassing comment from - Krakow is an absolutely fascinating & enjoyable little city

    Wonderful city.

Beautiful city, and some fantastic restaurants in the centre (not really what you expect from Poland!). Might be a bit unnerving having Uncle Sam’s proxy war ongoing next door though. Seeing good deals for Egypt too right now - but again, you’re a bit too close to a war zone.
    highdon's avatar
That war you speak of is about the same distance from Krakow as Krakow is from the UK. If you went closer to the border then you'd probably notice the American troops every now and then but definitely not in Krakow. Other than that, there's nothing to worry about. (edited)

Iv just paid nearly £900 for the flights for 2 adults and 2 children and thats the best deal out there. Hotels in Krakow are always dirt cheap anyway.
    kesi10032003's avatar
Himow is it possible to pay so much wheb flights are usually max £50pppf.

    flights seem expensive
    Richard_Anton's avatar
Agree, what used to be budget flights have become expensive, especially if you add luggage.
