Think your getting calories and sugar contents mixed up my darling, theirs very little in the way of sugar in whisky to contribute towards the calories. By the way take your health warnings and preaching elsewhere, were not interested.

wrong again
Found this to be very peaty. Would not buy again.
There's calories in alcohol, doesn't matter what type.

Whisky - A lot fewer calories than beer and cider. 50 odd calories per shot is quite low, only slightly higher than vodka.

They were right about the pizza thing though. Most people don't realise how many calories there are in spirits

yep in all alcoholic drinks - the fact that Scotch can be drunk neat / with water doesn't change that much about its high calorific content

sure it's better than mixing a full fat mixer in with (say) gin

but all distilled spirits are effectively distilled from similar bases, ie something very sugary - and remain high calorie items after distillation even if the sugar flavour has disappeared

The difference between whiskey and whisky is simple but important: whisky usually denotes Scotch whisky and Scotch-inspired liquors, and whiskey denotes the Irish and American liquors.

The word itself (both spellings) is of Celtic origin, and modern whisky/whiskey distillation practices originated in Ireland and Scotland. Using whiskey to refer to Scotch whisky can get you in trouble in Scotland.

Sarcasm is an English characteristic.

I misspelt "whisky". Wonderful. Who cares? Get over it. Enjoy the whisky and chill out.

I know which is which and I misspell all the time or my auto correct does it for me. it's so not a big deal unless people make it one for themselves

3 bottles delivered today - now to find somewhere to hide 2 of them! (_;)
krakow
For anyone who missed it, or wants to stock up, this Lightning Deal is coming up again today at 5pm for Prime users, 5:30pm for non-Prime.
Amazon seem to be repeating Lightning Deals quite often. This will be at least the fourth time round in the last month for the A'Bunadh and I've also seen the Highland Park 12 w/ Two Glasses deal come up several times as well.

Thanks a lot - i check lightning deals regularly but this wasn't on the list earlier. ordered!
Still got half a bottle in the cupboard, so might hold off until around Father's Day when Amazon have loads of single malt deals on (I got the A'Bunadh for £34.50 before)
Back at 39pounds. Just got one.
Seems you're right.
Checking prices once a day isn't enough if the recent deals only last a few hours.
Busy enjoying a small glass now.
Seems sweeter and not "quite" as strong as the last bottle I had in January at only 60.7%

Ah thanks. From what I've gathered near where I live they are turning our local co-op's into Mccolls. There have been a few good local bargains. Keep an eye out if they are changing hands too as they are selling off stock lines that Mccolls won't carry
Never heard of Mccolls o_O

I hadn't either until I moved to Scotland from Manchester. Our local had amazing craft beers and cider for 50p but I think here it all depends on the lines the shop stocked anyway so very much only good for those around the corner.
Insane hot deal!

They checked the office too...I bet they're stashed somewhere - There were about 10 empty boxes on the shelves...

Spent all my money on the 12YO and 22YO Sherry Cask anyhoo...

brilly
did you get it scanned?
Just did this morning - Had to convince the manager who insisted that spirits were never reduced to half price...
Both 8YO and 12YO scanned at £9.99....so result - but...although there were lots of 8YO boxes on the shelves, they couldn't find any in the stock room (they almost gave me the 22YO Islay by accident, but spotted their mistake...Darn!)
I did get 6 bottles of the 12YO, though (The checkout lady had a couple for her dad, too...) So not a bad result, in the end.
hah just ask at the till for a price check, or go to buy it and leave it if its not what you hope for
if the 8yo is like the cognac in the box which was reduced from 25 to 15quid, the item wasn't kept in the stock room but in the office for security
they cant get those big push on security tags into the boxes so keep seperate

Really sweet and fruity single malt, opens up well with a few drops of water. Pleased with my purchase considering the price, an easy to drink single malt (and I have whiskies - blended, malt and grains - across various ages/price-points at home)
I am doubtful about this one. Most of the output seems to go for blends with the odd cask strength single release. This seems bog standard NAS so not sure why they've bothered calling it a distillery edition. That said, we're still waiting for someone who has actually tried it.
No.
Relatively new distillery (founded 1967). No age on this, standard strength, owned by Pernod-Ricard.
Alleged £30 original price is a joke.
Might be ok, might not. Single malts available at Aldi for £17.99!

Lidl/Aldi sell whisky older than this once a year at Christmas...

They sell the 25yo and 34yo Glenalba throughout the year near me. Was more of a point though that aged whisky can be sold for less than £50. All Aldi/Lidl aged whisky is excellent too, well worth stocking up when available.

Grr, my work HATE dealing with personal deliveries.
Just as well there'a a post office right over the road :)
I work for a large company, and everyday, anyone who has received an Amazon package gets an email to pop down to the mailroom to collect it. Works fine for me, and I guess it saves the mailroom staff time delivering all the packages from Amazon.
Ditto but our mail room is outsourced and the acceptance of personal mail would affect their workload metrics.

If you're ever up in Orkney then book yourself into the tour of the distillery - very interesting and you get to keep your tasting glass (same as the ones in this offer) at the end too! The 18yr old malt is my fav.

Lucky for me my mum lives on Orkney and always brings me a bottle down. Not a bad whisky slightly Smokey.Decent deal.

Great price for a great whisky
Personal choice. I'm a regular visitor to Skye and prefer Black bottle over Talisker..... as do many Skye locals.

But whiskEy is subjective. (Yes, the E was right in that I'm an Irish drinker)

By chance I happen to have a large Laphroaig select beside me as I type this.
It's my personal favourite. In my humble opinion it is definitely smokier and a deaply peaty spirit compared to the regular 10 year old.

Just my personal opinion.
Betty.Swollocks
My personal favourite is the Laphroaig Select, which is usually a couple of quid dearer than the 10 year old.
It also is currently £25 in Tescohttps://www.tesco.com/groceries/product/details/?id=285331961

I actually thought Laphroaig select was normally on offer cheaper than the standard 10 y.o.

I've never tried it, but I know that it received a bit of criticism together with Talisker Skye as being 'toned down' versions aimed at those that don't like peaty whisky. But I'm sure it tastes good if you don't have any expectations of it being as intense as their core range.

That's Quarter Cask at Cost co, the superior deal if your a member. If not this is still darn good. Anyone who does not like this I can completely understand. Burnt down hospital extinguished with sea water is probably the best description. I love it

Picked one up in Tesco this morning at the same price. Was going to post the deal until I saw this.

Not tried Skye before and I like medium peaty ones (Bowmore etc.). Based on other comments it might be a bit too light in that department but I'll keep an open mind.
Their 10 is good value at this price, so is the "storm", but not a fan of this stuff. Well discounted and good find, but barely worth it in real terms.
Not a very interesting drink to my taste, not exactly full of character or depth. The priceis reasonable but not great, especially being a NAS whisky. Save your money and buy another 10-12yr next time theyre on offer. The Aberlour 12 is a good bet atm, or wait on a talisker 10, laphroig 10 etc coming up at similar prices.
Didn't find this peaty at all, it's mostly matured in toasted oak casks so it's sweeter, with familiar Talisker smokiness, softer, not as complex and easier to drink than the 10yr old. Worth picking up at the price
This is really peaty, had a bottle sitting around since a few promotions ago. No way i can get through it.

Does the price include VAT?
How much extra do you need to pay to join Costco to get it for this price?
Think it's about £25 to join. But there are restrictions like you have to be self employed or work for the council etc.
Any one can join now as a individual member just different times you can go in than a trade member
It is not true that anyone can join. You have to be generally be an employee of employment sectors such as education, banking, insurance, healthcare etc. T and C are on the website for reference

Agreed this was my understanding of it. We let our membership lapse so it may have changed. I was a member 12 months ago.

Voted cold, regular price 25, tastes less. Not worth buying. Rather a Aberlour 12 or Aberfeldy at this price
I'd be surprised if they manage to sell this at its 'standard' price.
Terrible whisky worth nothing more than £20.
I remember buy it a whiel ago when it was £25 in tesco, I quite liked it, but was glad I didn't pay more for it.
It does taste different depending on whether you have it from the freezer, sharper and crisper and some of spices are more distinct.

its regularly on price for £25 in the supermarkets and to be honest for the money you can get much better. highland park for £25 and old pulteney for £24 on amazon at the moment which are far superior .

Again, it's not whether you can get for £25 better value but whether you can get this specific product for better price. Appreciate you can get other Whiskys for £25.

And by the way, when you say 'regularly' on other supermarkets. This is sold for £40 in Tesco and Waitrose at the moment (I checked before I posted the deal).

It's been £25 for a while and the code has been around for a while. Not saying two bottles of HP ain't good but this has been highlighted in other threads
yep I love Highland Park (& Scapa, too!)

I didn't buy any of the Dalwhinnie 15YO @ £21 (Tesco, see my other thread) even though it's a good whisky - but Highland Park tempted me rotten so I took the plunge, partly the romance of bringing back fond memories of Orkney I suppose! Lovely place - you MUST visit there sometime in your life, it's wonderful in May/ June (the month of playing golf at midnight since it doesn't really get dark).
One of the best whiskies.. It's a pity they don't deliver it abroad :/
Great stuff just ordered and a old putney for the dicount, just got to make sure im home before the mrs when it get delivered.. (_;)

I tried this for the first time a couple of weeks ago and have been looking for a reasonable priced bottle since, cheers opp. Anything else you could recommend that's similar as I'm not a big fan of the peaty stuff.

Singleton of Dufftown 12 yr old is a very nice drop as well. It's a Speyside, so not peaty or smoky.
Just came on to post. Spotted this in asda at £24 this morning and amazon have price matched.

I'm assuming that they are planning to no longer stock this, hence the price reduction? Same with Ardbeg.
£22 is incredible price for an excellent, and often overlooked, Islay single malt.
I guess so, either that or they are clearing last year's stock? Who knows?
I managed to get this and the Ardbeg for £25 on another deal. Two shading Islay malts for under £50

Heat added - nice whisky that pleasantly surprised me, definitely worth the money but as others have said you can find it for similar prices. Very mellow and easy drinking.
Rated at 85.5 in Jim Murray's 2017 Whisky Bible which translates to a very good whisky.
For the price this is a bargain
Well it's a very easy drinking dream. As described on the box, coconut and citrus. That's definitely there, smells like a lime meringue pie. Slightly oily feel initially but then thins out very quickly with a big wave of oak. Honey, brown sugar and only a hint of vanilla on the taste. That vanilla swells in the after taste along with the oak flavour.
When Aberlour 12 yo comes back around at £25 that will be a HOT deal . Superb value and superb whisky

Any good?
very good, I really like it, tend to alternate between this, aberlour and talisker
I'm intrigued, haven't had a lowland before. 100% certified Peat lover lol
As a peat lover, I think you'll be disappointed with this. Not worth a penny more than the £20 that the supermarkets often reduce it to.
I'm expecting something totally different. If it's bad then it will be a mixer for summer bbq's :D
Don't mix it !!! Nothing special but not bad at all. Worth £20
Agreed.
The saying goes something like. .... there's no bad whisky, just some are better than others.
Amazon often have some very good bottles on lightning deals for a little bit more.
Laphroaig 10yo often £25
Aberlour 12yo often £25.
Always worth a daily check

excellent whiskey, have some heat! :D
Whisky, whisky, whisky. It's from Scotland. So spelt whisky. Where you fishing but chance?
Excellente !!
It's never a £40 whisky. I purchased a bottle at £25 last year and it's still half drunk in cupboard. There is nothing wrong with it's nice but it's not the sort of whisky you crave. It nice but in no way exceptional.

Others may disagree but for £25 I'll take a Aberlour 12yo on offer any day
Maybe a bit harsh but dosent deserve its 40 price mark, especially when you say you can pick a glenfiddich up for 25, both are speyside but are miles apart in regards to taste :)
DRRINK
Not a fan. Id price it at £20
I think that's a bit harsh, it's often knocked down to £25 at one of the supermarkets, which I think is a fair price, I'd never pay £40 for it. I like it, it's smooth, and quite sweet, but like a lot of these cheaper NAS whiskies, lacks body.

But saying that a while ago Tesco had Glenfiddich 12yo knocked down to £25 from £35 which I'd say was a better bargain, but without a time machine that's irrelevant ;)

Gutted, wish I'd bought a bottle of that Glen Marnoch. Picked it up, put it back, picked it ..... then walked away.........looking back over my shoulder

Nooooo.....I feel for you!

Funnily enough, when I bought my first bottle of it, I only went in to get some Parmaesan - then spotted the Glen Marnoch 28, which I think must have come in that day, and had to get one. I really wish I'd emptied the entire shelf though. For the money, it really is that good.
