Tamnavulin Single Malt £16.99 (Lidl in store Glasgow)

Lidl have Tamnavulin single malt reduced to £16.99 in store (Glasgow Riverford Road). Assuming it's national, at least for Scots? The next cheapest deal on HUKD is £22. A snip for… Read more

It can be drunk neat so at that price it is a bargain. Heat added.

No age statement. So not "12 year old single malt" etc. All whisky needs to be 3+ years, so at least that old... Anyway, delicious *They don't define the age

Nice find, this is my nearest Lidl store too

What you mean by NAS? Not naturally aged?

Prefer the Welsh version I posted, same price.

Bit on the nose naming it the St. George's Distillery, eh?!

Will give it a try at that price, thanks

Nice stuff this, thanks

Great price for a decent drop.

Cardhu Gold Reserve Single Malt Scotch Whisky, 70 cl - £25 (Prime members) @ Amazon
Found 14th AugFound 14th Aug
I know it's regularly been at this price, but good to stock up when it is! Decent enough malt.

YTD count =16 then. I will be sure to add this info again when this next gets posted (sometime in the next 2 weeks i suspect).

This has been posted 16 times in less than a year. Why would you stock up on something when it can virtually always be had at this price or less? Not worth £25 IMO, especially when you have Old Pultney 12 and Strathisla 12 often in this price bracket or less.

If you know anyone going to Spain, ask them to pick you up a bottle of the 12yo, it works out about that same price as the gold reserve and is readily available there 👌

Beautiful stuff.

The_Bounty_Bear: WARNING -...This is a Cardhu Gold deal police alert. The posting of a £25 deal for Cardhu Gold will alert the Cardhu Deal police because. It's nearly ALWAYS £25 somewhere. Sorry, had to vote cold for how recently this has been much lower as BritishDragon said. This looks a pretty standard price to me..

I'll just wait for this or the Quarter cask at between £25-£28. Comes around every year or two, then I stock up in a big way. Just avoid the Select. It's drinkable, but not a patch on the 10 or Quarter

used to be £25 on a regular basis but has been £28 quite recently. sorry cold

Fair price for this. The price of whisky these days though! Just goes up and up (flirt)

thanks for the post. ordered and arrived.

Those 2 are very much entry level single malts. I'd definitely recommend spending about a fiver more to get a Highland Park 12, Old Pulteney 12 or Aberlour 12 (or even this Strathisla deal). The difference in quality is significant.

I think the Glenlivet Founders Reserve is very easy to drink, Auchentoshan American Wood is the easier to drink.

No connoisseur but I got this last time it was on offer. Just finished that bottle in fact. Delicious and far easier to drink than recent non-aged purchases of similar price (see pics). Perhaps I'll try with water this time to qualify those poetic tasting notes...

ditto. I never read tasting notes. only matters what you taste yourself IMO.

Heat for the reduction. They're doing jack Daniels rye for £24 at moment and I prefer that, but I've no proof so can't post

Talisker Skye Single Malt Scotch Whisky, 70cl - Amazon Pantry - £17.95
Found 11th AugFound 11th Aug
Good Price!

I heard the no age Ines are where they have blended different aged whiskeys from different casks. So could be a mix of a 20, a 15, a 12, a 6 and a splash of 3 to brighten it up. Legally if they were to display the age it would have to be the youngest (minimum 3), so instead the blended whiskeys tend to have no age statement

Got a bottle of this sat I. The kitchen, far too smokey for my taste, seemed burnt but voted hot as this is a great price

Now expired, good find though.

It has to be at least 3 years old to be called scotch whisky, not just whisky.

I was asking as some of the previous comments seemed to be missing the fact that price might be the main point for posting.

A bit pointless as nearly all NAS's would be 3yrs and misleading unless they then list all of the others and the amount which would make it a bit silly.

The age statement on a bottle of whisky specifies the age of the youngest whisky contained in the blend. Given that they will use a younger base whisky as a filler and then use older stock to add complexity it is entirely possible for them to specify the age as the base whisky will generally remain constant.

They don't have to and shouldn't have to. Most NAS's are made up of varying aged whiskies so it's difficult to specify a certain age.

I didn't as I've lost my receipt and I know what everyone is like without proof ;)

It's a Scots malt so it's whisky. Whiskey comes from Ireland.

Whisky prices can be weird and not related to quality. I remember in the early 90s, Kwik Save had distillery bottles of Royal Brackla for cherry bobs. It arrived and disappeared. Not so cheap now. Glen Ord was another similar one. I have no idea why they were so cheap or why Glen Keith is now. Glen Moray, on the other hand ...

This whisky is almost perpetually £21-£22 at either Tesco or Asda, in fact it's currently £21 at tesco and £22 at Asda, so you do not need to be a member of the Amazon Prime private club to enjoy this deal. It's a nice whisky that I would argue is one of the best you can get regularly for under £23, but as I type Old Pulteney 12yr is also £22 at Tesco and I would argue that's the better buy at the price point. American Oak is more vanilla/coconut sweetness, very simple, pleasant. Old Pulteney is like salted toffee and butterscotch with a really briney aftertaste, more complex and rounded than the American Oak.

£27.99 (21 + 6.99) if you are not a member of the Amazon Prime private club.

I'm waiting for @sam_of_london to come along again and say she likes Scotch better.

Good price, Got a bottle same price in Tesco . For thoese not on Amazon prime.

Thanks, OP. Great price for this. Don't know why this is voted cold, it will certainly keep me warm!! :D

I have a bottle of the 18 year old Glen Grant which apparently is pretty good Not opene dyet. Managed to bag a bottle for £60, thanks to my work colleague plays squash with the distillery manager :-)

Ralfy gave it 89/100 in 2012 and then re-reviewed it in 2014 and gave it 90/100. It really is outstanding value. I'd love to get the 17 (which gets a 91/100), but I've rarely seen it cheaper than £70+

The Highland Park and Aberlour 12 are beautiful whiskies. Not tried the Old Pulteney yet however, might give that a try next time. Not fussed about cold votes, its a very busy day for deals on here, there will be folk just going through them all spamming cold id imagine.

Don't worry about the cold votes - it probably from people that would mix it with cola no doubt. This is the cheapest I've seen it since around Fathers Day in 2017 (it was £21.33 then), and is a very good deal. This is a nice single malt - not the best, but excellent value at this price. I'd probably still lean towards an Old Pulteney 12, Highland Park 12 or Aberlour 12 if any of them could be got for around £24. While Jim Murray may have given it his award 5 years in a row, there are suspicions around his leaning towards certain distillers - whether that's because of financial incentive to him or not, I could not comment. Unfortunately, Ralfy has only reviewed the 12yr old bottling - so we may never know what his opinion of the Glen Grant 10 is (he gave the 12 yr old a decent 86/100 if you were wondering).

Craigellachie 13 year single malt whisky £37.99 at Amazon lightning deal

Lightning deal £37.99. Previous low is £40 according to Camel Camel.

They describe it as a meaty taste...or sulphur...very distinct. Not unique to this distillery, but a very good example of it - comes from the use of worm tub condensers. Gotta say I like the retro label on the bottle too...

This is the best deal going in Sainsbury's right now, Bunnahabhain 12 for £28.50!
