I agree, I used to get 'free' cocktails made with this as I had a membership at a club where they were promoting it. They had far bnetter single malts imho, but this is good for the deal price, so i added heat
Paid under £20 at Costco in the past and one of the least favourite malts. Not for me sorry!
Not a massive fan but that's a great price. Heat added.
Glad to be of help and thanks for adding my voucher code to the deal info! (y)
Code works in my basket, thanks! Will add to the deal info.
Voted hot! I wonder what it tastes like! For those affected by the delays last month, the JIMBEAM£5 off voucher code to use by 31 May 2021 I had will help make it taste even better! (highfive) Sounds like what Amazon tend to do. The more online footfall they get, the quicker they increase the prices. (skeptical)
Yeah, annoyingly it just went back up to £29.50 per bottle about a minute after I posted the deal. I've amended the prices - still good value IMO.
Showing as £29.50 for me? Still a good price at £29.50 tbh, there's a Tullibardine 4 x 5cl tasting set for £17 that also looks good value and would make it qualify for free delivery.
Because some people don't think it's appropriate to post a deal for a reduced price on an item no matter where it is reduced and when. They don't care that it is helpful for those that do like this whisky.
Why voted so cold? It's still cheaper than Tesco which is currently showing as £37.50 a bottle: https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/search?query=Cardhu Gold Reserve
"seems like" is the key here... even their 12 is totally forgetable
how about: I quite like it, it's a nice enough drink for £25 a bottle, but it's nearly always reduced to this price somewhere, so you'd be crazy to spend any more than that, sometimes some places have it for £20. Having said that, I've only bought it the once so it wasn't good enough for me to buy again
I miss the Cardhu Police. If you enjoy it fine. 🤐
If a whisky drinker received this as a gift it would look like you know what you are doing. Bags of flavour, nothing extreme. Definitely not a supermarket random that you picked for a fancy box or similar.
This stuff is great as a slight diversion from more conventional Speysides, as it has a slight hint of peat smoke. Highly recommended. The 15yo and Cask Strength bottlings are also fantastic.
Great detail and research, OP! Thanks for the recommendation and price tracking data
A splendid drink. The only whisky I've ever had Liquorice on the finish.
So I posted this earlier and didn’t have time to add much commentary. I’m firmly in the camp of 8 yr old is different than the 16 and I can see why many prefer it. I tend to follow the prices for these and it’s rare that the 8 yr old is ever reduced to lower than this. Sweet deal and I may just order a few!
I like Trappist beer as they avoid all that advertising jargon. They don't employ marketing guru's. Tynt Meadow the only UK Trappist beer is a good example, one of the monks designed it, all basic. The taste is what counts
Glad you liked it :D A lot of people are pleasantly surprised with how good it tastes. :)
Just picked it up and tried it last night! Safe to say I’ll be getting another when it’s gone. 👌
To be fair, the advertising copyrighter avoided the usual tired and trusted formula of mountains heather tartan and so on (most of which are conspicuously absent in Wick), although it's only a matter of time before some joker comes up with "spirit of fair the Vikings" or some such other nonsense! (Remember, you read it here first!)
Agree with your stance on advertising, see the same with wines, coffees etc, often wonder who comes up with it and why - can only presume somebody somewhere has decided 'it's needed'. This is indeed one of the better ones imho and it appears to be growing in popularity - unfortunately that probably means the price will go up ;( so, I'd advise those who like it to maybe grab some now. :D
I was tempted when Sainsbury's had these down to £14 a bottle, glad I didn't.
I liked this. Very palatable
I have seen so many deals on this site alone for Crabbies and I keep warning people that they would be better off drinking carpet cleaner. Just as I would warn you against drinking carpet cleaner the same hazard warning applies for Crabbies. As said by others it is vile and they are just clearing their warehouse by selling it off cheap. "Lovely bottle of whisky, it goes far as most of my friends have tried it and INSIST on passing it round to another friend as a kind of “king of whiskys” tradition. After 1 glass of this on the rocks I knew it was my job to keep this tradition going and expose more friends to the glory that is this whisky" Cruel tongue in cheek comment!!! No wonder you are anonymous lol
Let’s get past the fact some dont like it. if it’s your thing then 12 quid is a good price. Heat given.
Seems to be competing with Haig Club for worst whisky on HUKD
You don’t be disappointed. Love Ledaig - just finished a Provenance Indy bottling and I’ve an unopened Gordon & McPhail 12yo to look forward to.
The Amazon price for the 12 looks like it doesn't drop below £39 very often, but it dropped to £30 this time last year so hopefully it'll drop again soon; I'll pounce on a bottle when it does. I'm enjoying a drop of Ledaig 10 this evening - it's very good.
I preferred the Moine. Be interesting to see what you think. If you’re patient the 12 drops to £30 quite regularly.
The Moine sounds right up my street. I've ordered a bottle, along with a Toiteach A Dhà. I'm coming towards the bottom of my Stiuireadair, which is good but not great IMO (better with ice). The 12 is on my hit list.
Very different - this is peated unlike the 12 (which is one my favourite drams).
Sorry Ben, I went off on a rant earlier. It just saddens me to see what they're doing to whisky. As with most who value this drink highly I've always appreciated all the time and effort put into producing it. Those who are only interested in profit margins have got a hold of the industry and are throwing all of that aside. My recommendation would always be never pay top dollar for imations.
Chocolate Orange flavor? (lol)
I've got this and didn't think it was that bad. Certainly worth a try if you want to try weird caskings.
One of the many benefits of Brexit, we get to keep all the good stuff for ourselves 😁
Prices don't seem to be the same in all stores, Woodford reserve and Glenlevit were at full price where a Talisker one was reduced but by not that much. Did not find any thing in the range of £10 (annoyed)
The Woodford is an amazing price! 😳
Its totally store specific. I picked different bottles in 2 different store, where same Aberlour or jura was full price and other been discounted. Woodford reserve cost 13£. Im unsure whats going on there, but its ne sorted for few months now.. Also Talisker10 in both stores in example was full price, penderyn too... (skeptical) All was marked down with special offer sign on shelves so its just weird, unknown reason sale. Happy i mange to pick few, luckily as they was all last bottles left!
