About this deal

  • Ardbeg is the peatiest, smokiest yet most balanced of all the Islay malts, balancing smokiness with sweetness to provide a wider complexity of taste.
  • Matured for just 5 years, it's the untamed ‘enfant terrible’ of the whisky world. Whereas most single malts seek smoothness & balance, we know more time in cask can subdue the smokiness.
  • 70cl
  • 47.4%

ON THE EYES: Bright Gold
ON THE NOSE: Intensely smoky on the nose, with a marked freshness characterised by herbs, pear, pine resin and aniseed
ON THE PALATE: Rich and textural, with chocolate, tar and cracked black pepper in the mouth. The finish is long with hints of fudge and savoury meats.
PERFECT SERVE: Enjoy neat, with a little water or 2-3 large rocks of ice

IT’S A MONSTER OF A DRAM. Ardbeg Wee Beastie is the latest permanent expression to join the Distillery’s Ultimate Range. At just five years old, Wee Beastie is a feisty young creature with a formidable taste

SOMETHING BIG AND SMOKY… Senses are heightened with each encounter. First, intense cracked black pepper with sappy pine resin & the sharp tang of smoke. Suddenly, a burst of chocolate, creosote & tar. Savoury meats sink into the palate, before the long salty mouth coating finish slinks away

Ardbeg is revered across the whisky world as The Ultimate Islay Malt. Ardbeg is the peatiest, smokiest yet most balanced of all the Islay malts. Ardbeg isn't a one dimensional peaty malt. Rather, Ardbeg balances smokiness with sweetness to provide a wider complexity of taste. Ardbeg's portfolio of whiskies is the most awarded of all the smoky malts - Ardbeg has won 51 gold, double gold or best in class medals since 2008. These awards include "World Whisky of the Year" 2008 and 2009, "Scotch Whisky of the Year" in 2010 and "World's Best Single Malt" in 2013.

Not only that, Ardbeg is lauded by the whisky cognoscenti and adored by whisky fans around the world, including the 100,000 members of the world-famous Ardbeg Committee. Ardbeg is a big and untamed whisky with an unorthodox personality. Ardbeg will never be constrained by the norms of the single malt category. What other brand could adopt Shortie, a Jack Russell, as their official mascot and unleash a hot rod tractor on the world?! It is non chill-filtered at high strength, which retains maximum flavour and gives more body and added depth. A perfect gift. Award-winning.

Sorry to be lame but I would spent a bit more and get the TEN. Way better.

This is every bit as good as the 10 IMO. Totally down to personal taste, of course.

It is a Wee Beastie! Great whisky. Not one for the faint-hearted.

Personally I really enjoy this dram. Yes perhaps not as nice as the 10 but still a very decent dram for Ardbeg fans. I’ve had far worse (Talisker Storm)

This is definitely a cash grab. Age statement removed and still £34 on sale. This is the new age scotch whisky. Make what used to be the standard 10 years, a premium product and start knocking out multiple none age statements of massively inferior quality.
If it works, it works I guess

Age statement is 5 years says it on the bottle.

Both the 5 and the 10 have gone up by roughly £10.

Some weird replies here. Wee Beastie is not the 10 year old. Nothing like it. I like both, but if pushed prefer the Beastie......all subjective of course.
