Standard fit: This garment is true to size for an easy, comfortable fit.

There's a reason the Quest Jacket is back for another season: because it continues to deliver great value, and reliable rain and wind protection. This shell is made from lightweight, two-layer DryVent™ with taped seams and a water repellent finish. All this means you stay dry, protected from the wind and won't get too hot and sweaty in the process - ideal when hiking in shifting conditions. It features a fitted, adjustable hood and a cinch-cord hem and elasticated cuffs to keep bad weather out. A brushed-knit chin guard means the top of the zip won't become irritating and there are two zipped hand pockets

I find North Face prices to be highly inflated. I like the quality and price of Super Dry jackets though, especially if you can grab them during sale.

I'm after a decent jacket. Is this just thin waterproof material with no padding at all?
    phatbear's avatar

Def not waterproof as the zip is exposed so when it starts honking it down the water is going to make its way through the zip

What's the sizing like on their jackets. On the site it's got me down as an XL but normally wear a Large?
    loopylloyd's avatar

TNF tends to run large. A friend of however said a sweater came up small, they ordered L as per usual sizing and would need an XL. However I got the McMurdo parka 2 in XL and it has come up big, as I believe a lot of the outdoor stuff is designed for layering so tends to be more generous fitting.

£60.50 for a green binbag. That 'The North Face' logo is sure worth a lot. If EXACTLY THE SAME JACKET had "Slazenger" instead of "The North Face", nobody would give it a second thought.

Who apart from the landed gentry and idiots would have paid £110 for this paper thin jacket originally?

It would be a full-time job to vet everyone that purchased a particular product and pretty pointless exercise at that. And if you did, then you'd only wear plastic sheeting.

Only the rich can afford north face jackets for £60?
I don't know what your definition of rich is but a £60 jacket shouldn't be it.

Looking at the reviews not a great jacket

I have the insulated version of this, which I very strongly recommend - because it's like a normal jacket (thin, but okay enough to keep you moderately warm). It's my daily jacket, and does it great.

I think the non insulated one will be almost like a windbreaker.

The reviews are not great, and you apparently need some sort of detergent from North Face to wash it.

Signed up for the birthday code and bought this jacket and a Basin 18 rucksack for £83.

Neede to spend £100 to get the 20% discount, so effectively the rucksack only cost me £22.50 compared with buying the jacket alone

Mine arrived this morning and I was pleasantly surprised. A much better bit of kit than I was expecting for the price, or some of the online reviews. Especially as I used the 20% birthday code (if you spend £100+) and only paid £48 for it. Quality appears very good on first inspection.

I am glad I sized down. I am 5’9” and 12.5 stone and a small fits perfectly. (edited)

Are the drawstrings supposed to have stoppers on them? Because mine hasn't!
    Bobbins's avatar
    Bobbins
No. Mine hasn’t either, and neither do the official photos on the website, so you can guarantee they are not supposed to be there. I think you tighten by pulling on the string inside each pocket which they are connected to.
