Do these get soggy when you stir your mug of tea?

100% wood free? Where did the newspaper come from in the first place? I get that it is recycled, so not using 'new' wood, but still..

I agree completely - rather like saying something made from milk bottle caps is 100% plastic free.
Also implies from the marketing that wooden pencils are rubbish in comparison which is a naff sales tactic.

Wannabe trash huh... could have easily dyed the pencils to be a uniform colour, but no. (edited)

I think the whole concept & marketing is based upon the idea of using recycled newspaper, hence the print on the pencils.

    Perhaps you overlooked that point.

If you chew on the end of these could this lead to acute toxic shock from having ingested British tabloid media internally?

It will likely be African newspaper - no way even with domestic modern slavery could anyone afford build these items in Britain with local materials.

Be careful if its 'the sun' newspaper they are recycled from....they'll make you write lies

look alright but given it all relies on the eco friendly ethical claims be interested to know what paste is used to hold them together & where & by whom under what conditions are they made? Suspect these are pasted with PVAc which is a plastic pollutant. Can biodegrade under perfect conditions but can't help wonder shaving it into tiny slivers will spread microplastics. More than you would release using bare wood pencils. If they were marketed a novelty or an improvement I'd not speculate on any of this. (edited)

If I am a business I can plant ten trees when digging one up to make some pencils. The same happens with paper they call it fsc. I'm struggling to see how glueing lots of paper together around some lead is any more green that using wood. In fact wouldn't the paper have to be cleaned for a second time too before being used? Greenwashing - the prime example. (edited)

worry similar on the greenwash but also ask who did you get to do the sticking, with what media at what wage with what employment conditions?

Tombow do some recycled pencils in rather lovely packaging. You can get them air-freighted in from japan here:

I forgot these existed, had few these when I was younger. I liked the idea and thought looked cool. The texture holding it I think I remember was a little odd

Whatever environmental good you are doing buying these is negated ten times over by having them delivered to your house.

I see what your saying, but they don't magically appear in your house. Unless you walk to wherever they are and pick them up then it's going to be a trip to town in some sort of fuel munching transport....
