Usually at £23 price point this is a saving of additional £1
Think it's been at £19, but that was few years back.
Doesn't tend to get any lower than this. There is something about the taste that profoundly transports me back to the family croft and the salt of the sea and the smoke of the peat - and after a few more into a magical hinterland in the flickering flames of the hearth of the fire somewhere between Brigadoon and Whisky Galore.
I would say (in balance) i preferred the select over the 10, so a great price for a nice whisky
Definitely a great price but I'd pay a little more the 10 or quarter cask if you can wait for a good price. This is a bit meh in my opinion.
Hence why I don’t like adding anything to my drinks where possible! ;) But if I do, it has to be worth it! For more on the strongest cocktails in the world go to: http://www.kettleblackbars.com/breakdown-10-alcoholic-cocktails-world-try/ (lol)
Hah, online so I still have time to get some good mixers in. Jesus, that's hardcore, I can't even handle spirit need and your mixers are all yet more alcohol?!? ;)
Looks like everyone was out shopping too! I'm shocked that you want to mix it with anything! (lol) Only kidding, as long as you've tasted it first neat...you could try Coke or Amaretto (Godfather) or Drambuie/Glayva (rusty nail). Hope this helps! Check out www.makeacocktail.com for more ideas! (y)
while i'm doing my waitrose shopping, anyone got views on what to mix it with other than ginger ale?
One I want to try so may partake - at 55ppm it’s definitely peaty but it’s not one of the most peatiest whiskies around - think Octomore at 139+ - albeit not a price point for HUKD!
Already bagged and ordered! (y) 8)
You're most welcome, @mossman ! It's one of my favourites too as I like peaty whiskies served neat. Hope you manage to bag a bottle (or two) soon and enjoy again! (y)
Generally, Islay whiskies have a peaty flavour profile, this one certainly does. This is a first class dram, and worth every penny, even at full price. If you can push your budget, their Uigeadial is a sherried peat monster, and is incredible.
It makes an excellent blood and sand. No time machine but it was £10.73 a week ago on amazon.
Yeah, I jumped on that free cider offer too! I've pretty much stopped buying blends altogether though as I can afford to spend a bit and get a nice malt. I've got a bottle of Benromach 10 coming from Dropstore with the free cider. It's £29.50 but the free cider made it irresistable! (:I
I got this on the Amazon deal a few weeks back for just over a tenner. Very good for that price, but overall didn't really impress me.
W&M currently price locked at Sainsbury's for £12 for 70cl https://www.sainsburys.co.uk/gol-ui/product/whisky--/whyte-mackay-blended-whisky-70cl ;)
Um, are you sure about that? It says £28 on the Co-op site, not £18 for 70cl.... https://shop.coop.co.uk/product/9250cdf0-cf27-4056-a6d5-edc30cdac40e
Currently £63 on Amazon, £56 with S&S. That is an absolute steal for an 18 year old 46% whisky with no colour and no chill filtering. Quite tempted myself now!
£56.65 on Amazon with subscribe and save. Cancel the sub after delivery. Its a bargain for such a great whisky
Where can Deanston 18 be found around £55 please..?
Disrespectful to the spirit and to the consumer to leave it in the barrel for 18 years only to dilute it to 40%. Shameful. Good price though I suppose, for aunties to buy for their nephews on their 18th birthdays.
There's so many good whisky deals around that I think it's worth spending just a little bit more to get something really decent. Highland Park 12 year old is often available at £25 (Amazon selling it at this price but they just delivered one to me today for £20.52!). Old Pulteney 12 is another excellent whisky and is currently selling for £24 at Tesco and Amazon. Here's ralfy's take on £20 Auchentoshan:
I agree - £20 is about it’s price point and I won’t buy it when priced above that amount. Would love to try the other iterations especially the triple wood
Triple wood is where it’s at
I got for £10
Very nice single malt with good flavours. A good value whiskey which is more than drinkable with a few ice cubes. Perfect little night cap at that price.
