The Mobius does not come supplied with a mount because there are so many different ways to use it.
I use a 99p tape mount bought from ebay like this one here https://dashcamtalk.com/forum/threads/mobius-mounting-solutions.2654/page-19

How long have you had it?
Not for long if he lives in a city.
If some drug addicted scrote sees this on his windscreen when the cars unattended he'll soon need a new side window.
I use a Möbius dashcam (they're tiny) and were I've placed it it's invisible from the outside of the car.
How do you mount the möbius can't seem to see any pictures showing mounting?
hannaoptimus
Surely you take it down when not in the car. The reviews say it clips off very easily.
Yes you could remove it and the next time when your 'only going around the corner' to the local shop so you can't be bothered to fit it then some tit crashes into you you'll be sorry.
Like I said before my dashcam is invisible from outside and stays fitted 24hrs a day and works automatically when I switch the engine on.

A dashcam should be fit & forget. If it's so conspicuous it has to be removed when parked, you've chosen the wrong dashcam.
Might get something interesting to capture if you are driving through Russia :-)

Better to get the sjcam from Amazon. These are bad clones of a good product

Just ordered one on strength of your comments(with 32gb Samsung card thingy) from Amazon.
It was quite a good "clone". Pictures and videos were not of a perfect quality, but more than acceptable for the price.
Why is this on HUKD, get rid
You can get same model on ebay from China for £11.99, or from UK for £15.26.

The reviews on this camera are awful, picture quality etc.

These are clones, some are a copy of the clone, which is even worst. X)

There is supposed to be a similar hack making a ir filter out of old camera film/negative?

I'll have to go see what results I can capture with mine https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/1b/Hi8_3CCD-camcorder_Sony_EVW-300.jpg

Do these modern video cameras have night vision recording?
We had a Sony DV camera ages ago which had night vision mode which was pretty awesome.
I've still got a Hi-8 Sony Handcam with proper night vision, I think the digital night vision jobs were really blurry slow mo. It's just a flip of the switch to move the IR filter to the side. Not expensive at all stupid they took it away.

That's what I thought. It's a brilliant feature from what I remember. What a real downgrade.

Ordered one after looking at some sample videos on youtube. Seem to do a decent enough job and for £30, I'd love to have myself a camera that is waterproof.

Better?

Mardy.
Very good little camera this. Takes 1080p, which is actually better than some of the more expensive kitvision models (such as the Escape, which only shoots 720p). My only gripe when using underwater is that there is only button on the underwater case. Which means you can only shoot videos OR photos, but not both. You'd have to get out of the water, open the case and use the side button to swop to video/photo mode. So that is a bit annoying. But great underwater videos, hard to do better for the price.

I never used it on my bike, but I reckon by the model name "Splash" this particular model is designed for watersports.
Tesco had the skiing version of this instore last week, still on the website.....

The terms state you must purchase from a participating retailer in the UK. After going through the claims procedure I heard nothing from Panasonic within or after 28 days. So I had to call them. And the response was Groupon are NOT a participating retailer in the UK. The Panasonic site still lets you claim with Groupon as the retailer. So don't buy via Groupon, if you hope you will get the Panasonic cashback. You won't.
Do not buy from groupon sent me two sets of beats studio that were both broken . They were for kids Christmas presents . Fobbed me off on refund so went through PayPal . Then said they would refund me only if I closed PayPal dispute . 13 emails no refund they failed to respond to PayPal and they told me 10 times to close dispute against paypals advice . Spoke to PayPal and they said all groupon needed to do was to enter resolution centre to authorise refund but advisor from groupon wouldn't do it . Once again asked for me to close dispute . Once dispute is closed you have no comeback . How can a company behave like this . I will expose them !!!! And so should others !!!

I managed to get a display model using this code but quite happy that it was unmarked, with all accessories etc, didn't realise that i would need a faster (UHS spec?) memory card to make it record in 4k. Quite pleased.

Its required due to the high bitrate recording.

A note about the XAVC format. You need to format the card in the camera. When I used it initially, I couldn't work out why it wouldn't allow the XAVC recording even with a UHS U3 card. Putting in a Windows formatted card only allowed the MP4 recording - dont know why, but formatting in the camera created a different folder structure and allowed the recording.

. not like those other brand names on specific expensive Chinese products! X)[/quote]
As long extra money goes for extra quality control and R&D - I'm perfectly fine with it.

And apart from jokes - Chinese can now build proper products for not-so-low-but-still-decent price. But they tend to use their own brands, not second-hands heavily worn out brands from Europe or US. Just like Xiaomi or Huawei.
And there is nothing wrong with Polaroid or Blaupunkt as long you're aware what you buying and price is fair. The only problem is because brand belongs to importer, not manufacturer, you'll find it on good and bad products and you never know what will be next - excellent piece of technology or piece of c**p. It can be just anything - check product, not brand.

Edited By: HaraldBB on Dec 14, 2015 14:17
As others have said, Polaroid stuff is UTTER junk. Avoid.
HaraldBB

There is nothing to like as for some time now Polaroid is just another brand printed on random cheap chinese products - same as Blaupunkt, Medion, Praktica, Kodak, etc...

How are these powered? Do you always have to use the car lighter to power, or have they a rechargeable battery lasting for x hours?

It's powered by the car's electrical system. It's internal battery is there to stop the video clip being recorded when external power is cut from being corrupted or lost, & to keep the date / time stamp accurate.

if you want something descreet and compact with quality id go for something like the Panasonic HX-A1 or Drift Ghost.
I had the session and the battery life was awful. Would struggle to get an hour out of it with wifi on, using my phone as a view finder, Just shy of two hours without wifi on. I plugged a pebble 1800mh recharger in it and this kept it going for around three hours, I think the pebble drip charged rather than used itself as a portable battery pack. Picture quality better than my hero 2 but I sent the session back as out of the box the battery makes it almost unusable and is a major flaw, and have gone for the 3 plus silver which is classed as prosumer rather than the session consumer, and 4 black professional

This is the price this camera should have always been. It doesn't have the sharpness of other GoPro cameras. The Polaroid cube plus is still cheaper, and with 'better' video quality.

Waiting for a 4K Xiaomi Yi.

Interesting that today Xiaomi have opened this Yi up for sale in the US through Amazon.
Just returned one to amazon, terrible audio on some of the builds, seems to be fixed on the newer builds but theres no way of knowing what you are getting. Ordered a Gitup Git2 from gearbest instead.
I bought an SJ4000 last year for less than this and it's 1080p, with a rear screen a waterproof housing and all the gopro style mounts. So I'm guessing you could pick one of those up for under £50 now
Camera alone is £42 from gearbest. This is only a good deal if it comes with the office selfie stick and the Bluetooth remote.

I ordered in store, so I could pay by a gift card... What a complete f**king chew on.

Store cant help, and online cant help
Same thing has happened to me. Received e-mail on Saturday stating that order would be cancelled as this was an out of stock, end of line product. My complaint e-mail to customer service is yet to be acknowledged or replied to. Clearly a case of Currys not wanting to be at a financial loss by replenishing stock to fulfil orders. Very disappointed.
I am currently in the process of exchanging it for the sony as200vr

really long winded process . Apparently buy again and they will in turn either issue a cheque or get the finance department to do a BACS transfer . Got the call back and was issued with the complaint reference . So hopefully nothing will go wrong ( touch wood )

They know that, they're saying it's a much MUCH better GoPro for not a huge amount more, pound for pound the Hero 4 Black for £255 is a better deal. Yet it still went cold. That was the point.

while 4k video might be great, 4k photo is not something good, that is under 9 megapixel, a lot of phones do more than that. It seems to be an advertising trick.
It's ironic that you call 8MP a marketing trick when the whole megapixel race is the biggest marketing joke with cameras with small sensors such as phones and typical compact cameras.
Considering that most photographs are never printed but are viewed on screens ranging from 1MP to 4MP with most being 2MP (1080P) or less then 8MP images are perfectly fine.
You’ve been hoisted by your own petard.

1. The quality of the sensor and optics etc are more important once you go beyond a reasonable number of pixels which for typical home consumers is not that many.
2. 4K photo is an added feature and not a replacement for its regular photo features. Useful for situations where it's very hard to get the exact photo that you want. An 8MP photo is a lot better than 16MP of nothing! :)

Disappointing as a camera , according to some. Dont know about video side.

If you have no lens - how much better value is the Jessops version of this cashback deal which is £479 but includes a 14-42mm lens for an extra £50?
The 14-42 is a pretty good lens. Its a useful zoom range for most photos, and decent image quality. So I think it is worth getting a kit with that.

Amazon and Currys have the kit with the 14-42 for £570 (before cashback), so a bit cheaper than Jessops

Package received package received. Repeat: package received, over. Was sent from the eu warehouse when stock came back in. Then received within 3 days from that point. Because of that there were no additional VAT or administration charges at customs too - which is always a risk when you order selecting their china warehouse.

Just checked my junk mail as suggested. Last email I received from them on 15th Oct stated: "We are delighted to inform you that we have received your payment for order and will process your order immediately." Lol.
Perhaps they will move after a chase email or two
I think you ordered from their China warehouse... and it does say that it can take 1-2 weeks (top of my head) to process (which means pack n post) the order than a further 7-25 days to deliver...
I think that explains the delay then. Although, I did wait for EU warehouse availability so as to order without fear of customs and VAT charges, I think there must not be any there and GearBest are just going to follow the China order process like you say.

Probably... but I am very hopeful that you'll get it during the next week :) *fingers crossed*

Ideal for cyclists who are ........
spat at? driven at? forced off the road? ignored? punishment passed? abused? punched?
cos all of those things have happened to me :(
you must be a absolute ar*ehole on the roads, no offence of course.

Not at all mate, I just ride a lot. This is the general reaction from a very small percentage of people.
I got **** when someone came onto a blind roundabout at speed and had to brake hard. He was off to the scrap yard. I won't go any further with that stereotype.
I get spat at regularly just cos I'm on a bike, same with debris being thrown at me. Abuse also - the old "get a car" being particularly prevalent amongst the Clarkson brigade. As if quoting some fat unfunny middle aged man is the height of humour. Wow, hold my sides.
I've had boy-racers in their low-slung cars cross the road and drive head on at me because, you know, that's funny to spook a person on a bike.
Punishment passes are an everyday occurrence especially if you have the "cheek" to overtake traffic that sits in queues at rush hour. Or God forbid you swerve to avoid debris/holes etc.
I've had a Stagecoach bus pass me so close that I've had to fall off the road lest I get hit. This travelling into a 30 zone where I'm doing 25 and they have to stop at the next bus stop.

These incidents are not as a result of me doing anything other than cycling along. Unfortunately, in this country, a person on a bike is seen conversely as both a person who "thinks they own the road" and is a second class citizen. The old "should pay road tax" or "should wear hi-viz" is trotted out by smug twits sitting in their motors, never minding the fact I do own a car, I do pay vehicle excise duty and I have got insurance for me on my bike. Oh and of course, red light jumping. That's my fault as well, and I have to be held accountable for everyone else's actions and punished/treated accordingly. Never mind the fact I would die if I jumped any red light on my 12mile commute.

However, I know that no matter what the risk on the roads, it is infinitely better than becoming one of the ever expanding (lol!) group of people who die of obesity related disease (about 30k a year at present, set to soar over the coming years).

I might, however, move to Holland where they made fundamental decisions 30 or 40 years ago and are reaping the benefits now (of cycle / pedestrian use)! And vehicle users don't see bike users as scum.
Got one through bespoke, thanks

considering some of my neighbours i will put one on my hat
They are a china special. I bought one to try ages ago , blurred picture, does activate with noise, so I found it pretty useless TBH.
Does in fit nicely on a purple helmet
Had one of these it died at the first drop. Consider them as disposables. Very poor quality, but fun while they last.
These are rubbish and have been around for years. Crap picture. Crap battery.

What's the difference between getting it from China warehouse and Europe warehouse
Time 3 days vs 3 weeks
From outside EU - import duty (slim chances that they will catch you but the difference in price is not great to risk it)
the spec looks good, do you know is it waterproof? what type of mounts are included? thanks

The camera comes on its own. Or bundled with a high quality selfie stick.
The camera housing (water proof) can be gotten for a tenner of eBay. But make sure to get "gopro anti fog strips."
I took my camera to brighton and had it on a dog harness. She got into the sea and the camera heated up and fogged the lens.
It has a standard tripod mounting on the bottom off the camera without any cases. Then the standard case will use all the gopro and gopro knock mounts.
Not so good a deal then if all the mounts and cases have to be bought separately. A basic go pro is only around £100 and can be sent back to the manufacture if anything goes wrong
£44 yi camera
£10 housing + basic mount and bolt
£54
gopro basic £94 (argos)
Yi camera;
2k @ 30fps
1080p @ 60fps
720p @ 120 fps (no sound)
480p @ 240fps (no sound)
16mp stills
Gopro hero 5mp
1080p @ 30fps
720p @ 60fps
5mp stills
Depends if you're wanting more for your budget.
No doubt the yi camera has better sepcs but I have heard a few negative stories from people I know on those generic cases, poor image quality, scratch up easily, easy to fog up, not seal properly etc. A genuine go pro case is £35, on top of that I could take the go pro back to where I bought it if anything goes wrong so I'm kinda split right now. Xiaomi should have made their own accessories to go with the camera. I think better to wait until they do.
I've had mine for a few months been going strong.
Got a metal case with a uv lens on it.
Had it in the sea with a £10 water proof caw (did fog up but didn't have gopro anti fog strips).
It's been mounted on a dog harness, dropped once or twice. So far still working perfectly.
Unsure on photo mode though. It does seem to delay and blur of you're moving. But I didn't buy it for photos.

Do you use a waterproof case when attached to the dog harness, also what dog harness do you use?

You need a yi camera water proof housing (ebay for about £9).

then you need need a 'gopro dog harness.'

http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=221789207347&alt=web

If your dog is small, you may have an issue with the harness staying in place. My dog is a small Yorkshire terrier cross jack Russell and the camera tends to fall to one side.

But larger dogs will have a better result.

Also, if you are thinking of taking the dog into the sea with the yi. Look into 'gopro anti fog strips.' It will reduce or eliminate the fog on the housing.
