A 25 watt old fashioned (incandescent) light bulb is roughly equivalent to about 250 lumens. So don't expect much light from only 46 lumens. As for a 25m reach I suspect that would only work in a lab with specialised equipment unless you can throw it that far.

Good price. But for those which use this particular ink (colour and black), I recommend the following:

http://www.wilko.com/printers-and-printer-ink/wilko-remanufactured-kodak-10-black+colour-multipack/invt/0319107

Plus it's only £9.50 for both colour and black and it works perfectly fine.
I feel really sad seeing the word Kodak -Hot anyway thanks

what about Canon?
The one I have now that sounds like an industrial factory starting up is a MG 5550,cant recall no. of previous model .I,d read warnings on blogs about cannon being useless these days but I had a stock of cannon inks so tempted my pocket and I made the same mistake that I really regret now.too many faults to list but its going down the tip soon as inks used up!
I thought the Kodak brand had been purchased by Asda/Walmart, and were just labeling all sorts of cheap rubbish Chinese electronics, with the brand?
If I am correct I would recommend you avoid them!
Kodak stopped making printers a couple of years ago and sold the brand to Funai.
krisbutler1
I would say just be careful with Kodak printers- although they look good value for money, they do waste a considerable amount of ink between prints (charging the system, cleaning cycles, etc). We have had two Kodak printers previously (an ESP5 and ESP-7250) and both failed with print head issues. The 7250 had only done 700prints in 18 months, yet used 30 sets of cartridges, when check via diagnostics with Kodak support. The print head unit is £25 from Kodak (although you may be able to blag one free). Just be mindful of the hidden costs and don't get sucked into the whole Kodak "cheaper ink" spin...:)

I have had two Kodak printers and they were both (with hindsight) AWFUL. I fell for the cheap ink thing. The build quality is not good. The cost of a new print head is outrageous. Worse still, I bought one for my Dad and his was awful too. STEER CLEAR. A foul stain on the previously good name of Kodak. I have no idea how they can keep selling these. (Rant over - sorry!)
Not sure if it will work online but you can get student discount 10% off or 12.5% for nus extra/ucas

do yourself a favour and buy a laser printer instead i've had a samsung for years which i use
once every 6 months and it is still on original cartridge and ink has not dried up and stopped the printer
working as on a inkjet.
Arrived yesterday, install took 10 minutes, all good so far
Much quieter and faster than the Canon SX515 this is replacing.

I would say finding someone to develop these cheaply would be the biggest hurdle.
The fun is in developing it yourself. You can even develop it with coffee and vitamin c, but think black and white lomo in terms of results.

I've searched various Sainsburys for these but not found any. I found one store with a good stockpile of Fujifilm though but it was £3.25 on the shelf price. Quite a good price, but not as good as Poundland or this deal.

Do look pretty naff, probably paying for the "brand name", only reviews i can find were from the purchaser who'd bought them for grand kids... so, basically £5 for a toy for the kids... so not too bad.

This is available again, but showing as low stock. Could only find it by using the link in the deal though. Wouldn't show up when I searched on the Tesco site.

Was looking for an inexpensive point and shoot camera with a decent zoom for when I can't take my DSLR somewhere (some sports venues in the US are pretty strict), so this looks ideal.
Looking for a case for it, if someone can advise one
Ordered one of these and they just sent me an email to say it's been cancelled and no explanation? Anyone bought one of these that they don't want?

So explain your phrase..(as per below)

"No worse than all the other batteries in the world; especially the ones that car manufacturers put into "green" vehicles".
......................................................................................
That is inherently flawed therefore (by lack of context).

You can't be referring to L/A batteries as they've been here since the year dot (& the lead within is around 70% recoverable).

Where "green cars" are concerned, they invariably have a lithium based battery due to weight (or lack thereof) , capacity & discharge by the modern standard & perception of vehicles, (ie the past 8 years)
Dude, you brought up the subject of lithium ion batteries, not me. When I referred to car batteries, I wasn't talking about any type of battery in particular. You could have chosen lead acid batteries or nickel metal hydrides to talk about, but no, YOU chose to talk about lithium ion. They're all pretty ghastly. I merely pointed out that lithium ion batteries have their nasty side, after YOU brought them up.

I've considered all of the things you're banging on about and I even felt strongly about all of them once upon a time. I was an environmental studies student once and I wanted to save the world (yaaaay for me!). Sadly, rather than inspire me to save the world, those studies convinced me that there's no point in bothering. It doesn't matter whether you or I support or oppose batteries of any kind because the world is going to go the way it's going, regardless of what we do. No one will ever be able to control the corporates or the corrupt governments in time to stop or reverse the damage.

This should provide you with hours of entertainment. Enjoy! It's not entirely clear what you're stance is, but either way, I suspect you'll argue the toss.

By the way, I wouldn't even use the Daily Mail on my ****, let alone finance it with a purchase or, god forbid, read it. Out of all the things you have said to me, your implication that I have a "Daily Mail mindset" was the most offensive.

Edited By: heathergreen1 on May 12, 2015 07:29: typo
Heathergreen1 (or whatever) said..

"You might want to look into the health and environment problems causing by lithium/cobalt mining in the third world."

Instead how about... "You might want to look into the health and environment problems causing by mining *anything* with a commodity value, in the third world".

Sad but true!

Edited By: MR GUS on May 11, 2015 13:44
When calling you out I don't need to, I'm merely stating that a singular bbc page is hardly conclusive, as stated packing needs to be adhered to & this is often not in terms of actual qty which heightens the problem reported on.

And lets just get this straight, (you can pull up your own facts here) ..you are moaning about mining problems well, how about not buying non recharageable low capacity crud in the first instance ..Hmm!? ..you are hardly helping yourself here :D
& mining, you are talking one aspect, mining occurs for other materials too right!? ..get on your high horse across the board then rather than singling out this.

If you ARE really concerned then surely you ought be popping deals up for ni-mh rechargeables (or similar) not one use & bin! oOX)

Like I said (& you are yet to answer) is all that schmutter banned from your home, do you refuse to use li-ion battery tech in your day to day life, what about poor conditions in those Lenovo company deals you repeatedly post!? , do you ban alcan / non ethically mined aluminium from your home!? ..make sure the products you buy's core components (e.g. precious metals on a circuit board for instance) are properly sourced / satisfy your personal ethos or is it as flawed as your li-ion batts argument.

Anyone can pull up anything on the internet they wish to foil.

If you dick around & don't pack glass properly it gets smashed right!? ...unless you follow strict proceedures & measures, ..same comes to transporting goods, declaration labels, temperatures of goods left on a baking tarmac runway or similar & a hot hold. ...the handlers don't necessarily deal with the goods properly (& airport luggage / freight is renowned for damage, correct!? ..ask anyone who travels frequently via plane).

So I'll ask you again about li-ion goods in your home life, do you use them? ..& if so contemptuous of li-ion (more than one recipe for any battery type) why do you then post deals for items such as the Asus net book, http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/asus-transformer-book-t100-10-1-inch-2-1-convertible-netbook-atom-z3740-1-33ghz-2202238

..IN FACT on the first page of your listed deals there are 12 lithium battery power capable (& typically supplied with) batteries alone, should I look at the other 9 pages?

You, are REALLY funny!

Dreadful batteries. Landfill nightmare.
No worse than all the other batteries in the world; especially the ones that car manufacturers put into "green" vehicles.
Do tell, & remember to quote your source.
(there is a shedload of difference between these P_sspoor performers chemical makeup, & therefore chemical energy return than a lithium ion battery, so come on enlighten us all), not to mention salvage & re-processing / second life of the battery in a car.
I don't need to quote sources to know that lithium-ion components are carcinogenic and flammable. The US FAA doesn't much like them either:http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-31709198
Wow, what a non commital answer from you!
FYI many things in modern life are carcinogenic & flammable, ..check out your sofa for compliance, materials doused with anti flamm's ..sweeteners (such as sweet & low , canderel etc) ...& plenty of materials sloshed round gardens... such as glycophosphates , ...which have remained on the market due to US pressure as they make so much MONEY!!!
Getting in a damn ICE car has an inherent risk due to petrol, materials, oils, plastics, Lead acid batteries etc all going up in flames,. ...do you walk everywhere!?
With your innate hatred of Li-ion I'm guessing you ban mobile phones, laptop's tablets etc in your home due to your prejudices & fears right!?
I'm always walking around with 5000+ lithium ion batts & a cartridge heater in my pocket, how about you!?
ICE vehicles set on fire every day, however rather than having a "daily mail" mindset (glib) I understand context in this, (in part based on them being the dominant vehicle type) ..whereas Li-ion fires make for a simple lazy journalistic story.
Add to this the multitude of different formula make up based on cost & recovery, energy delivery requirements, discharge rates & environmental aspects you need to get your head out of the sand & research more than the bbc.
On a home scale uptake, most folk are buying some dodgey LI-ion batts (those explosion stories) which come down to poor Q.C. storage, shonky chargers, or downright dishonest manufacturing & sourcing practices, e.g "recovered" Computer batts, soldered together & sealed in a pack, with little or no care.
From your bbc link we can simply improve storage factors as the easiest acknowledgement of any problem, but in the same light, how about we conduct that test again but with hairspray cannisters... guess how it would go down!?
Duh! oO
Wow, you post a lot of deals for electronic goods, typically containing li-ion batteries don't you!? ..do you work for Medion!? X)
Well, you're obviously being funded by the lithium-ion defence league. What an amazing amount of incorrect assumptions from nothing you've made. You haven't quoted a single source for your rant either. Dearie me.

You might want to look into the health and environment problems causing by lithium/cobalt mining in the third world.

I'd be really interested in seeing a proper magazine review; but I'm guessing the owners of the Kodak camera brand won't pay up or maybe the mags are too snobbish to touch a 'low-end' model.
The images in the thread Brilly linked to seem a lot better than the images here - http://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/3807139. The thread comments heavily praise the camera, but I'd say image quality is a level or two below the likes of the HX400v, Fuji S1 or Panasonic FZ72; maybe my expectations are too high.
Certainly seems a good spec for the price.
tbh i think the image quality of most of those are pretty good - i take it you clicked through as the previews shown in threads are massively compressed?
those cameras may be better (good prices on those!) but still 40-50% more
totally forgot about how sites often get their cameras for reviews - previews are easy as its walk round a show and pick it up, or press photo and specs which costs nothing etc
Deal is expired in any case.

Anyone after a bridge camera might be better off saving a few pounds between now and the Easter sales; I bought both the FZ72 and HX400v for less than £150 after cashback at Christmas and I can't see the Easter deals being any worse.
Thanks for the update. Those additional pictures are quite interesting.

My experience of magazine review policies is limited but usually the process is they request a loan or sample (or are offered one) and make money though the advertising which accompanies the review. As for why JK Imaging didn't supply this particular model when they did supply a different model is a bit strange though.

I agree, the image quality isn't up there with the better supers' but then perhaps that's why they shunned the dedicated camera retailers and went with the high street chains instead?

I also agree with you in that these pictures look different from the other lot and incidentally I've also noticed one other thing: according to the EXIF data the sensitivity of neither any of these or the other pictures exceed ISO200. In fact with only a couple of exceptions they all seem to have been shot in very good light. And even then in all the pictures I looked closely at I can see unacceptable (to me) levels of noise starting to creep in, even with the ISO this low. It does makes me wonder if the photographer was intentionally trying to keep noise to a minimum.

wombat6025
Certainly seems a good spec for the price.

I remember when the top end model was announced last year. It's 65x "Astro Zoom" was the prime selling point. As for value I'm still skeptical about it being a good buy but then it I guess it depends on what your usage is going to be. For me image quality is more important than focal length but then I'm sure there will be people who just want a small telescope with a camera at the rear!

I will agree with the other posters in that thread though, for a superzoom the optics on this do appear to be quite good; very little vignetting and only minor pincushioning & distortion at wide angle.

These do have a tendency to leak if left in something and forgotten about.

That's common for batteries.

Yeah maybe so after leaving them in something for a year or so but with these it's usually after a matter of weeks!

I don't know is the simple answer, I just seen the deal and if you added say a SD card or something electrical to make the total up to over £100 you can use the code TDX-PKJK before the 21st Dec and get another £20 off, seemed a good deal, I know there are better cameras out there but you do pay for what you get.
What's this like compared to the canon sx I'd just like it for kids photos, zooming in on players at occasional footie match and the camcorder. Something a novice can handle. Thanks

Isn't it amazing how ignorant many people are about disposable batteries!

Despite many postings explaining the difference between zinc and alkaline, and explaining the comprehensive battery test review (shown above) showing Duracell alkaline are no better (maybe worse) than the Poundland ones, we still struggle to get this thread to 100 degrees whilst the Duracell bunnies bounce ever upwards!

And yet people that come to HUKD are supposed to be savvy shoppers.

Sad.
The a good way to tell if a battery is any good or **** is by the weight, with the exception of lithium batteries, the heavier they are normally the longer they last.
I would have loved to have got this many Alkaline batteries for £1 as a kid.
Magister
People still can't understand the difference between alkaline (which these are) and zinc chloride (which these aren't), and they don't seem to want to make the effort to find out. Ah well, your loss.

six alkaline batteries for a quid . sounds good for me . ill give u some heat
Cold - standard price.

Also available in Tesco Extra "Brand Outlet" for the same price + 1 clubcard point.
My local Poundland only got these in last week, so thought they were new stock. Either way I would love to know of a better deal than these for a quid.
A friend used to work for Duracell and told me that they rebrand batteries to sell to supermarkets etc. Not saying OPs statement is true, but there could be some truth

the Ikea ones according to http://www.batteryshowdown.com/ look very good value and performance is similar to standard duracell and less then half the price. might try them next time too.
I used cheap AAA batteries once a few years ago on my NAD amp remote and they leaked and permanently messed up the remote.
These are the batteries I usually buy, as well as the AAA ones. They're all good.

I would never use Panasonic batteries, they don't last long and they usually leak. They destroyed my Diamond Rio PMP500 many moons ago!

Reading the reviews shows that Kodak don't have any of the Easyshare software available to download which is required to use the easyshare feature. You'll need to us an SD card and insert into the PC to transfer pictures/videos.

Kodak went in adminstration and re-emerged - I think and their site just says 'sorry for the inconvenience of no software downloads'
They always look as if they are melting into whatever they're sitting on!

I assumed this "One-button upload to email, Kodak Gallery, Youtube™, Facebook and Flickr sites" meant some sort of wifi functionality, but it's just some software you can install when the camera is physically connected your PC.

Probably better just using your phone.

how do do these 02 things help! I've got 02

You would need to have a phone with o2 connection, and then if your phone is a smart phone, then use the o2 priority app.
open the app and select the offer (in this case it should be free kodak batteries) the app would then guide you to the nearest whsmith store and would also genrate a code (if required) for the shop keeper to have a look at..

simply pop into the store, ask for the kodak offer for o2 customers, I'm sure they will help you out.

hope this helps :)

Btw: I didn't vote. But if £150 is your budget, this is packed with features and is CMOS sensor. My commen was more about long-term warranty support really. Kodak as we once knew them are gone on the retail side i..e cameras and printers.

At 52 x zoom though the image stabiliisation and autofocus is going to be seriously tested without a tripod - it will have to be good.

At this budget, I would still go with a lower zoom and a quality lens/processor combination e.g. Canon / Panasonic

Canon PowerShot SX500 @ £139 is a bargain imo. http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5597147.htm#pdpFullProductInformation

It is a CCD sensor and 720p video, but I bet you wont be able to tell the difference in picture quality due to the optics and processor.

Decent zoom but slow auto-focus means you're likely to miss a lot of good photo opportunities.

only problem is its a dead company... at least on retail side.
