Loved the Q6600 mine fried after cpu fan led snapped gutted!
Looks like a nice case, just bought one for my upcoming ryzen build. My 10 year old Q6600 system is long overdue for an upgrade! Thanks OP
Great price. Been using the non-windowed version for 3 years and it's a good case, lots of space and easy to get your parts installed, but I do wish it had a cover for the top which is just a bent mesh panel full of holes that let dust in.

Great price was looking at this yesterday and decided on the phanteks p400s glass as it was cheaper and had glass heat from me anyway :D

Is there a converter that supports force-feedback?
Would grab one of these in an instant if I could use one wheel for both the Xbox one and PS4 properly.

Brooks usb dongle

they do many varieties, last gen to ps4, last gen to xbone, ps4 to xbone, xbone to ps4

its almost a plug and play converter. you just have to connect it to a pc and update the software when you first get it

after that if theres a software update on your console in future that stops it from working, Brooks will release their own update which you will need to download to the dongle, they useually release an update within a week if ths happens

I've got the G25. Is it possible to get it working on the PS4? Can't be bothered dropping £143 on what is essentially the same product... Voted hot though.

Free premium (fast) VPN......why cold??

Thanks, downloaded and activated in case I ever need it. Looks like a fairly decent VPN service, only thing is they have a subscription option on their website for $3 a month, I didn't select it or opt for it but it seems to be enabled (didn't double check), maybe it comes free for a while or with the key, dunno.

When I too installed the same, the Serial Code was either DIRECTLY on SharewareOnSale's own website, prior to the initial download in the first place, or they emailed it to me directly instead? (I forget?).

Either way, check the SharewareOnSale email they sent you, your FREE Premium Serial Code is embedded for free within there too/regardless, lol. :-)

Hopefully you haven't spammed that same email yet?.

This is a 1-computer 1-year license for Hide My IP and 1-month license for Hide My IP's Premium VPN service.
After one month, you will lose access to Premium VPN services can but can continue to use Hide My IP's IP hiding feature until the year is over
No free updates; if you update the program, it may become unregistered
No free tech support
You must redeem the license key before this offer has ended
May not be resold

Also worth noting that the installer used: SharewareOnSale, installs their 'notifier' at the same time - can be uninstalled though

I am a little puzzled. How is this a giveaway (sharewareonsale) when Google themselves removed the price well over two years ago?
Incidentally, on the HotUKDeals app, this already appears every time I sign in as the hottest deal of all time.

And I quote:

"SBCONTT

Great offer. Even though Google Earth Pro is supposed to be free these days, the official free key link gives 404. This one is absolutely hassle-free.

Reply to ThisHelpful? Yes | No +7"

This was also on one of the comments on that same Freebie link I linked from above ... (which too may indirectly explain the SharewareOnSale version, and/or direct Google download 'differences', etc?, that's all I know?).

I've never used the paid for version before (even though I too downloaded same some years back, like most people).

I have however used the freebie version, that was formally available for wayyyyyy longer!, and it be GOOOOOOOD. :-)

I thought this was free to begin with

NOPE, Google Earth used to be the only one that traditionally used to be alway's free.

And in contrast, Google Earth Pro used to also traditionally be the one that rather used to cost you serious $Dollar's, and/or serious £Pounds, in the region of $100's/£100's a piece!, so ..... lol.

It's only as of about 2 year's or so ago that Google Earth Pro is now actually free, etc? (despite Google Earth Pro being around for more than 4 years or so now?). :-)

It's cool though. 8)

Anyone know where I can find the K70 RGB Lux Cherry MX Brown for cheaper?
I have bought 2 K70 red LED Brown from the Corsair refurb site for 51 quid. they all arrived promptly and looked brand new. I think i have seen the RGB version but it was pricier. The stock comes and go and prices sometimes fluctuates. but it's worth checking if you are looking for a bargin.
I bought one today from my local PCworld (Reading) and I'm impressed by the quality, weight and action of this keyboard. Great for this price!

So i bought this from Amazon last week at £63...whats the chances that they'll refund me the difference if i decide to keep the one theyve sold me because I've found a cheaper price?
I've tried doing that with a couple of products from amazon when they themselves have lowered the price of something days after I bought it. I was eventually forced to return the product and at the same time order a new one, just to get the lower price.
If you don't want to be without a keyboard for a couple of days you could order this from pcworld and just return the one they send, unopened to amazon

Ah, thanks for your help! Ive already opened it and used it. Guess I'll leave it...if only i had waited another week.

Hi mate, he means order it from pc world and then send the one you get from pc world back to Amazon not the one you got from Amazon :D

Wondering why this is cold, is there a cheaper deal available??

Wondering why this is cold, is there a cheaper deal available??
I got lucky 29th March - saw Office 2016 H & S (Only six left) here for £50.95. Not a lightning deal, nor deal of the day as far as I could see. I had googled it.
When I got dispatched email, the Amazon entry was gone so I couldn't post. I'm not just gloating; I was very surprised.
Don't know what made me even look. I had a Camel alert on Office 2016 which didn't fire. So I am saying it's worth keeping your eyes skinned in case similar happens again.
Very disappointed with the 2016 product for a user specific reason. I have extensive macro code that runs against data files and automatically generates rolling 24 month trend charts as pdf document, dot doc tables, and automatically emails them. Under 2016, ScreenUpdating = False doesn't work so not only does the ribbon go crazy, the routines run a lot slower waiting for screen update. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! Well reported problem. With my old Office 2010, ScreenUpdating = False sticks through the whole process.

Definitely worth it for <£5. im currently playing through it now and it is a very good Game, Controls can feel a little dated when you start. But you quickly get used to them and not being able to run 'n' gun adds to the tension.

i recommend installing the RE4HD mod, it improves the village, castle textures tenfold

I haven't noticed that, but the sound from the speakers is far from good - absolutely no base.
Mine has about 3 or 4 very fine scratches on the lid, I only noticed on the 2nd day in the bright sunlight.
The screen is dark and only possible to see anything if you're right in front of it. For this money I will keep it, but anything more and I would be returning it. Maybe that's why there are so many returns and outlet is full of them.
Anyone else who has received theirs have a click/pop sound from the left speaker just before a sound plays?
Turned up today, looks brand new.
Was just told estimated delivery was just that and that there's been a delay. Pretty hopeless when it comes to explaining why though. It has been shipped this afternoon but no idea when it will arrive.

I've been renting this game from Boomerang and was really enjoying..........but then I sent it back yesterday in disgust!!!
As I said, enjoyed it, dungeons were good, a few puzzles about, knowing when to use the right corebot buddy etc. Got to the end, or what I thought was the end, beat the boss, only to be confronted with a collectibles and XP barrier :(
You have to make your way up the final tower and each floor requires you to be a certain level and have a certain number of prismatic cores. I checked a guide and that number goes up each floor. The cores aren't too bad, you can use a map to find them (still a bit of a grind) it's the XP farming that I was pee'd off with! So I've ditched it. Real shame as it was a good game and I'd have said it was worth the £15 for it, but that end really spoilt it for me. Don't like a game that forces you to go back and find collectibles and grind XP. I might have liked the challenge of being under-levelled!
damn I was about to buy, but your comment has made me sceptical now :/
Keeping an eye on this for PC, by the time I've finished my backlog it'll be sub £5 (I hope)

Picked up some good uns so far and Windows have just added game mode on Windows 10.
Looking good with PC and Scorpio.
Hopefully aĺl these games I'm buying will get updates for Scorpio as well :)

I have the PS3 version of this, which was a terrible port. The PC port looks fantastic. PC needs more action games like this. Thanks for the deal
That wasn't a port - it was originally developed for/released on the Xbox 360 and PS3. The Wii U version and now the PC version are ports. It does sound as though they are better than the original, though, as the Wii U version is meant to be pretty decent too.
The PS3 version is a port, the 360 version was developed in house by Sega and the PS3 was developed by someone else because Sega wasn't familiar with the PS3 dev kit. Director Atsushi Inaba confirmed this in a interview and was asked to explain the PS3 poor performance.
Really? I never heard about that before. Assumed that because they were released on the same day they were developed simultaneously by the same people, like most games. Although, now that I've looked it up, it wasn't developed in-house by Sega - it was developed by PlatinumGames (who did MadWorld, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, The Wonderful 101 and recently Nier: Automata); Sega was the publisher and I guess that, as the publisher, Sega must have been pushing for a PS3 version as well, because monies, but because PlatinumGames wasn't familiar with the PS3 dev kit they handed it over to Nex Entertainment, who seem to have a history of just doing ports.

Will wait for the naked mods.
There's enough nudity in the game already without mods

Refurbished not new. Old computer keyboards can be very dirty even if they look clean to the naked eye.
True but a brand new replacement is normally around 25 quid if it really bothers you. Personally the worst thing about second hand laptops is the drive and battery condition as these tend to be more money to replace
Changing a keyboard on a Lenovo laptop is not easy. You can end up doing more damage than just changing the keyboard, thanks to the joy stick in the middle of the keyboard. Opening Lenovo/IBM laptops to upgrade is not for the faint hearted.
Not true, they are designed in fact to be incredibly easy to take apart, just one single screw holding the keyboard on most Lenovo Thinkpads.
These are the top business line. Costed over £600 when new

It's still a good deal.

Your not going to see the keyboard in the dark anyway.

USB3 for high speed video recording.

A few more usb2's for peripherals that you cannot control wirelessly.

Shame about the lack of bluetooth for those you can but it's a easy and cheap add.

Massive battery life so you can keep going all night.

12" nice and portable so it easy to take to site but not so small you cannot see your charts.

A fraction the cost of a toughbook.

Was looking at these a year or ago they were more than this.

Would be straight in the cart if I did not have other stuff going on.

They probably have Bluetooth, although not listed.

The Lenovo X61 range was built like tank, Lenovo X200/X201/X220/X230 models is built like crap, the lid split into two pieces meant the top part of the lid is prone to breaking off, the Lenovo X240 model reverted back to the standard one piece back lid.
They may not be as well built as the X61, but they are certainly not built like crap, in fact, they are still some of the toughest laptops on the market

your right the story is cringe, but the gameplay is what makes these games great..
I didn't mind the story but the gameplay . For me the problem is the fighting requires you to pull off very timing reliant combos which I just found to be a pain whilst trying to focus on everything else that is going on . And without mastering the timing of the combos everything is an unkillable sponge .
And I do like Hardish games like dark souls and nioh but this game was unfunly hard
God forbid the game requires some sort of mastery of it's systems. Dunno how you found this harder than DS or Nioh tbh.
I don't mind some mastery (did all bosses on soulsborn games and nioh solo) , but as this game is very hack and slashy I found it hard and not fun to focus on waiting half a second in the middle of a combo before pressing the next button which is never an issue in souls games as if you start pressing too much your dead . I had the same problem with metal gear revengance , it's kinda a shame as I really want to play nier but know I almost certainly won't like it
Nier is quality but yer if you don't like the spectacle fighting side then maybe you won't. I just would have thought you'd find this a breeze if you finished the souls games. They were 10x harder than Bayonetta to me.

Price is now £23.49. Please expire.
Ever since Norton introduced product activation in 2004 people have hated it (cos they couldn't use it multiple times) next Norton decided to contiunually fill their product with bloated plop so it made the PC run like a 2 legged dog. Finally someone at Norton had a lightbulb moment and realised about 10 years later that people don't like their shiney fast computers crippled by Norton's crap and greatly improved the product. Sadly by then nearly everyone on the planet vowed to never buy Norton again.
Now stating on Amazon that it is in stock again on the 15th of April, it is still possible to order this product for £21.99 with free delivery at the moment.

Would rather keep using my 15 year old 940 series, but the trusty stalwart won't work unless it's connected via Windows. I'd rather pay £20 for HP to make drivers for new platforms than buy this thing!!

An USB print server could be a solution. If you have a USB port on your router or have an old router with an USB port look up the specs. It will make a network printer that is supported by most operating systems.

We've got Skyrim wasting like 26gb of HDD space, is this better or the same?
Voted hot cos it's free, obviously.
Its worse. Only reason people bought this before was because Skyrim wasn't on PS4 but now it is so no point now.

They're two completely different games, ESO is an MMORPG, it's not meant to be like Skyrim, it's hard to compare the two. As an online MMORPG, I feel ESO is probably second to WOW, I use to play ESO around a year ago and had a very fun time on it, sadly can't invest the time in to an MMORPG anymore but if I could I'd be all over this.

This one of the Xbox Live Spring deals starting tomorrow?

pc keyboardIntroducing PCs

Where would you be without your PC? If you’re like most people in the UK, you use it to keep track of friends, make social engagements, share photos, play games, read the news, store music, write letters, do your accounts, watch TV or sports and find out the answers to nagging trivia questions via the World Wide Web. In fact, PCs are an integral part of everyday life.

The problem is that the pace of computer development means that owners are constantly required to update their model to run the latest software and keep their system running smoothly. This can get expensive, but by buying cleverly, you can save plenty of money on your next PC upgrade. This buyer’s guide explains how to find the perfect model for your needs.

PC: Powerful Machines

In a sense, you can trace the history of PCs back to the first abacus, when people started storing numerical information and using tools to calculate. But the history of the modern PC dates back a couple of hundred years to the calculating machine developed by Charles Babbage and Ada Lovelace in the early 19th century.

After that, computers grew in size, becoming enormous, room-sized behemoths with thousands of vacuum tubes and punch cards governing their every move. Then everything changed. In the 1950s, transistors started to be imprinted on silicon chips, and computers began a seemingly endless shrinking process, becoming faster, more powerful and even more important to the lives of their users.

Nowadays, even standard desktop PCs seem outdated and clunky to some people (although as we’ll see, they have their uses). Consumers can choose between tiny notebook PCs, stripped back, ultra-cheap netbook, powerful laptops and everything in between. Whether you need a machine for hardcore graphics processing, complex business tasks, adrenaline-fuelled gaming or just checking social media, there’s a PC for you. It’ s just a matter of finding the right one.

What Can You Do With a PC?

Modern PCs can be used for a vast array of different activities. Everyday computer users can write essays, tally their accounts, buy products, read news articles, stream movies, TV and sports, play games and keep in touch with friends. That’s just standard PC configurations. Specialist PCs can carry out video editing in a matter of seconds, something that would have taken hours 20 years ago. They can model architectural plans, run smart devices in the home or interact with VR devices to conjure up whole new worlds. So, they are powerful tools. But what goes on inside a modern PC?

The Components that Make up a Modern Personal Computer

Every PC on the market will have certain components in common, and it’s these components that govern how fast and reliable they are and how much storage capacity and interactivity they have. Some of the most important parts of any PC include:

  • The Motherboard: The motherboard is named because it is the coordinating unit that links together all of the other parts of a PC. Why does it matter when you are buying a PC? Because unless you have an expandable motherboard, you won’t be able to add extra memory, storage capacity or graphics cards to enhance your system’s performance. Motherboards are designed with specific processors in mind, so if you are building a PC yourself, be sure to buy one that matches the processor you intend to use. If you intend to add extra hardware like sound cards or graphics cards, check that your motherboard has plenty of spare PCI slots. Without them, you won’t be able to add extra power to your PC.
  • The PC Case: Also known as the chassis, the case of your PC isn’t a mere shell. It’s an integral part of the overall machine. One reason is that it establishes the look of your machine. Some people may find it frivolous, but PCs are designer items as much as chairs or gaming consoles like the Xbox One or PS4, and there’s no reason why they should look dull. You’ll find plenty of dynamic cases available to choose from if the looks of your PC really matter. More importantly, cases are built to fit different motherboard types. If you’ll be using a larger ATX style board, go for a spacious case. The same goes for gamers who are installing larger GPU cards. You may also need plenty of space for the power supply. All of these factors tend to mean that gaming cases are larger than normal desktop cases, so bear that in mind when you purchase the parts for your PC (or an off the shelf model).
  • Memory: All PCs rely on memory (RAM) to carry out their operations. Generally speaking, the more memory you have, the faster games and video streams will run (though processor speeds and software configurations come into the equation as well). Gamers should look for around 8-16GB of RAM to be sure of handling graphics-intensive titles. However, most ordinary computer users won’ t need anywhere near that amount. It’s easy to be tricked into purchasing more RAM than you actually need, adding to your eventual price tag. If you know you’ll need the extra capacity, go for it, but for everyday web browsing and word processing, it’s a luxury you’ll hardly notice.
  • Hard Disk: The hard disk is where your computer stores programs, from games to videos, pictures, text files and utilities. The capacity of hard disks tends to be measured in gigabytes (thousands of megabytes), with around 500GB standard, although you can go as high as a few terabytes (TB) if you need to. From a gaming perspective, capacity isn’t as important as hard disk speed. The faster your computer can access information on your disk, the better. Check your disk’s ‘rpm’ (revolutions per minute). This is generally around 5,400, but the fastest drives can manage 7,200, which is what gamers will want to see. Alternatively, you could go for what is known as a SSD (SSD), which doesn’t need revs at all. They tend to come with smaller capacities, but with their ultra-high speeds, they are ideal for gamers (and you can store other files on external hard disks if needed as well).
  • Processor: The processor of your computer is the nerve centre. It determines how quickly everything runs, and a fast processor is essential if you want to build a killer gaming PC. Check the number of cores in any processor before buying. The more cores, the better, as they make data processing much more efficient. Processor speed also matters. Generally measured in GHz these days (gigahertz), look for speeds of 4 GHz or more, and go for reputable brands like Intel or AMD.
  • Software: Although not strictly speaking a ‘component’, every PC has to run on software, and the software it uses can determine how well it functions. Most importantly, PC buyers need to decide with operating system to buy and what features will come with it. The current standard for PCs is MicrosoftWindows 10, which will be absolutely fine for everyday PC users. However, be careful not to sign up for services or software you don’t need, and don’t fall for deals that promise great prices without any software. A £400 PC can quickly become a £600 purchase when the operating system and tools like Microsoft Office are included. If you are just using your PC for gaming, keep software purchases lean and relevant. Game downloading services like Steam will be an essential for many gamers, as will a browser like Chrome. If you are buying a PC, make sure a virus checker is installed as well (they often come for free), while chat clients like Discord could be handy as could Skype, which allows you to talk via the web on a standard headset.

PCs come in all shapes and sizes, and you’ll encounter plenty of different categories when shopping for PCs online. Some of the basic categories include:

  • Desktop Towers: Larger machines that are designed to sit vertically or horizontally on or underneath desks. Ordinary home users who intend to use their computer for social media and TV streaming won’t need a desktop any more (although they used to be standard). However, if you need high-spec gaming performance, desktops are the only computers with the case capacity to hold the hardware you require.
  • Gaming Laptops: Gaming laptops are a different breed from conventional machines. They tend to be extra-powerful and portable so that gamers can take them to meet-ups and play wherever they wish. They also feature souped-up processors and graphics cards, as well as the cooling fans needed to keep them working, so gaming laptops can be heavier than other models. They look similar, but gaming laptops are specialist machines, and not everyone will need what they have to offer.
  • Standard Laptops: The kind of laptops you’ll find at Currys or John Lewis, they usually have screen sizes of between 15 and 17 inches, feature wireless capabilities and a wide range of connector ports. Good laptops will include USB ports to connect Hard drives, jacks for headphones, camera docking ports and ports for external controllers or keyboard.
  • Netbooks: Much smaller than standard laptops, netbooks have become increasingly popular in recent years. They are much cheaper than high end HP, Lenovo or Microsoft laptops, more lightweight and therefore ideal for kids of travellers. However, they usually feature slower processors, smaller hard disks and less memory, along with fewer ports. If all you need is a machine to check Facebook or write emails, a netbook could be perfect, but they are virtually useless for modern gaming.

Specifications to Consider When Buying a Gaming PC

If you are new to buying gaming PCs, it might be helpful to suggest a typical setup. This isn’t the only way you could setup your PC, but it’s a good guide to what you should be looking for when you search through the PC listings on HotUKDeals.

  • Motherboard: Go for a board with good expansion potential. Something like Intel’s Gigabyte Z170X-Gaming G1 would be ideal.
  • Memory: 16GB of DDR3 or DDR4 RAM would be more than enough.
  • Hard disk space: At the high end, a Seagate 3TB 6GB/s Internal HDD is fast and has huge capacity, but smaller SSD drives would be fine.
  • Graphics card: Don’t skimp on the graphics card. Go for something powerful from Nvidia: GTX range.
  • Processor: Speed is vital. Go for something that offers 4.6 GHz or above like the Intel Core i5-6600K.
  • Software: Keep things lean. Windows 10, Chrome, anti-virus, Skype, messaging tools and basic office tools should be enough.

What to Think About Before Buying Your Next PC

Whenever you purchase a computer, it’s important to think very hard about what you will be using the computer for. If you are a student who needs a work PC, don’t go for gaming PCs with cutting edge graphics cards (unless you plan to spend more time gaming than at the library).

If you are buying a family computer that needs to be versatile, don’t go for a netbook, as you will find it limiting, and don’t choose models with too much hard disk capacity or memory. Be realistic. The price differences between high-spec gaming PCs and off the shelf laptops is immense, and for most people the extra power simply isn’t necessary.

However, do think about connectivity. Make sure that your PC has enough USB ports to connect your family’s devices. You’ll need RAM and hard disk capacity to store images and videos, and a fast processor is always handy when streaming services like Netflix.

If you are building a gaming PC, you’ll probably be aware of the need for specific components and high-end performance. But less serious gamers can easily spend more money than they have to. Many games don’t use current PCs to their full potential, and if they start to do so, most systems can be upgraded instead of replaced.

In fact, it’s a good idea to consider whether your current PC can be upgraded. In many cases, extra RAM or hard disk space can improve system performance and allow slightly older PCs to run current gaming titles. It’s much cheaper than buying a new PC, and there are plenty of deals on components at HotUKDeals.

What About Macs or Tablets? Do I Even Need a PC?

What about Macs? We’ve been talking about PCs in this buyer’s guide, but Apple Macintosh computers are also popular computer systems and entertainment machines. They also have the added bonus of interacting seamlessly with Apple devices like iPhones and iPads, as well as streaming services like iTunes.

Another big advantage of Macs is that when you buy them, they come with everything most home users will need, straight out of the box. For instance, you won’t need to buy a word processor or graphics editing package (which can cost over a hundred pounds). Getting up and running is simple, an Apple provide what you need, so you don’t have to hunt around for the right software.

However, where Macs fall down is gaming. Although many current titles like Civilization VI and Homefront: the Revolution are available on Macs, the range of titles is thinner and dedicated gaming Windows PCs will always outperform Apple’s machines.

Still, if you are in the market for a basic computer that surfs the web, handles photos and lets you create documents, it’s a toss-up between Macs and PCs. You could even throw tablets into the mix as well. These hybrids lie between smartphones and laptops, and do most things that PCs can do, while being much more portable. Some tablets like the Nvidia Shield are capable of playing advanced Android games, so there’s plenty of fun to be had; just not the same kind of gaming experience you’ll enjoy with a dedicated ultra-powerful gaming rig.

How and When to Buy Your Next PC

Buying a PC can be a stressful process. The sheer range of options available and the uncertainty that everyone has about how much disk space or memory they might need in the future can make buying a PC a tortuous experience. However, things don’t have to be that way.

When you’ve zeroed in on the specifications of your ideal PC, there are plenty of ways to go about making the purchase.

If you are buying a family PC, high street retailers like Currys, PC World and John Lewis are excellent places to start. When you visit, staff should be able to answer basic queries about the features you need and point you in the right direction. However, they may not be able to offer you the best deals.

Before finalising your purchase, check the HotUKDeals listings to find out whether your ideal PC is available elsewhere. Online retailers like Amazon, CCL Online and Ebuyer often run discounts on standard PCs and gaming rigs that can be easily missed by everyday buyers.

If you intend to purchase individual system components and build your own PC, HotUKDeals is the place to go. You’ll find regular listings of hard disks from suppliers like Dell and online retailers, as well as RAM deals, offers on motherboards, graphics cards and PC cases as well. It’ s a great way to gather together all of the various components you’ll need while paying as little as possible.

Whether you are buying an off the shelf PC or building your own computer, excellent times to look for deals are Black Friday and Cyber Monday in November and the January sales. There may also be discounts related to the start of the school or university term in September, as well as flash sales when manufacturers bring out new models. It’s tough to predict. Just bookmark the HotUKDeals PC pages and you won’t miss a deal.
