Heat, but for those who are not Go Outdoors members you can get the same jacket for £99 at Millets.

How does this compare to some of the other waterproof jackets that have been listed on here, including the Rab (https://www.hotukdeals.com/share-deal-from-app/4032803)?

Well, the Berghaus jacket has Gore-Tex and in my experience no other waterproof membrane can beat it. I actually bought this jacket in mid October (same price) to replace an old Berghaus Gore-Tex jacket that I bought in 2006, not because it was leaking though, it's just a bit worn out but still useable.
The Rab uses it's own (probably) membrane which has a good rating but not as good as Gore-Tex. However for day to day use it should be fine.
I also have other Berghaus jackets that use their own waterproof solution (Hydroshell) and they will leak eventually in heavy prolonged rain. Why am I out in heavy prolonged rain? I watch rally cars when I can and sometimes you are in the forests or up a mountain for a very long time with sideways rain, especially in Wales

Yes random numbers hasn't worked since 14th November.
You can usually get the same item for the same price at Millets or Black's (all same company) yet GO Outdoors charge £5 a year to get these prices. (edited)

Why do you rate it so poorly?

I actually bought this the other day and it's just arrived.

    Heat to the op.

Forgive my ignorance, I've not bought rab/berghus brands before but what's the technical difference between 'wet weather outdoor gear' like this, and ski gear (besides from the fact you look like a popsicle in ski gear).

Ski gear is built for warmth but also has a tested waterproof/breathability rating at anything over budget level brands/models.
