Had the 3 and they recently started leaking after 1 years use, but Nike are saying just send them back for a refund. Good when a company stands over their product.

    Good to know.

Sounds like there's some sort of defect warranty with Goretex they honour, as it definitely shouldn't leak unless damaged by wear and tear as the nature of Goretex is it has tiny holes that shouldn't let water molecules through (but does supposedly let water vapour out for some breathability), so if leaking it's likely a stitching issue (or glue if they use that) if no obvious damage.

I have these in black. Bought for a lot more only couple of months ago. Fantastic running shoes. I run mainly on road, they work very well this time of the year on wet winter surfaces, they are grippy, dry, comfortable, light and responsive. Go 1/2 size up as they are a bit tight.

Bought these a couple of weeks back. My girlfriend also got a pair, we both went with the higher of the two sizes we tried, and we both find them really comfortable. We tried lots of different goretex trail runners on and these were the clear winners. Nice bit of sponge and spring, feel like they will be fairly waterproof. The ankle wrap is a cool feature that makes them feel even more so. Got them from Keller Sports on Black Friday deal for a little more than this but in black, which I thought would be more practical as we want to get off road with them. Would recommend.

Saw these earlier. Very tempted but I don’t need them. I have the 3 and love them. Good price.

I'm trying not to buy them and see that the non gtx are 58 at Keller. Apparently the 4 is a lot lighter than the 3?

I know these can be used for road and probably will be for most over trail, but I will never understand why trail running is done in the winter when it's slippy and poor grip, and road/track in the summer when grip is the same largely all year round. Ice affects both. It's almost as though the runners of history want injuries

Winter is traditionally cross country season, I think because the courses are less overgrown and spectators are less likely to come out during the winter, and muddy running is fun.

How are these compared to the Nike epic reacts?
    richteabiscuit's avatar

These are a goretex - so probably fairly waterproof - trail shoe, epic reacts are a plush road shoe. Maybe look at nike infinity run or invincible run for a more epic react type shoe?

A review of these on YouTube by 'Believe in the Run' about a week ago, said the outsole was more grippy on the goretex version than on the normal ones, so perhaps better rubber for wet conditions.

They also have more of a trail shoe design with the mini-gaitor which they also did on the previous 3 GTX version that I have.

Perhaps the normal ones are intended more for road with a bit of trail where the GTX is the opposite, or perhaps normal for summer totally dry conditions and the GTX for autumn/winter otherwise why the different design?

You’ll find off road trainers generally have a softer rubber compound than road shoes. Bit like winter road tyres on cars. Makes them more grippy. They do wear out much faster if just used on road/tarmac.

These are not waterproof, mine went back for that reason. Check the reviews on Nike website. Good shoe otherwise but if I buy a waterproof shoe with a huge Goretex logo on it, I want waterproof.

I found them to be waterproof but after a year I had worn a tiny tiny hole in top. Nike were brilliant and took them back for a full refund.

Those shoes won't stay white very long in muddy or wet conditions. Trail GTX shoes usually never come in white colour (edited)

Some probably like that they highlight the mud, as a badge of honour, like seeing a muddy Range Rover that's been taken off road beyond kerb mounting.

I notice on my 3 GTX (in the 'dark chocolate/lime green' colourway) the mini gaitor thing is much harder to clean than the rest of the upper due to it being some sort of cloth material in the lighter rather than darker colour, so always looks a bit manky.

any lacing issues with these, last few Pegasus wouldn’t stay done for more than 5 minutes and looking at these for a city break don’t want to keep stopping to tie up shoes .
