personally can't see the difference between 30 & 60, maybe cuz I'm old or wear glasses but I will give it a go depending if I finish the current games I'm doing by then

Go on a 30fps game for 20 minutes then go on a 60fps right after u will see the difference 100%. Or maybe the other way round.

Console gamers for the last 20 years:

"Man, games are amazing. Frame rate, what's that?"

Barely two years of playing some games at 60fps:

"60FPS OR I QUIT GAMING 4EVAR YOU HEATHENS"

I joke, but some people need to chill tf out. Games didn't suddenly become terrible because they only run at the same frame rate as games you were lauding over just a couple of years ago. Relax

I admit that's me, but I blame the consoles themselves. I was happy for about a year playing Gta Online with a few mates co-op on Xbox one X. Didn't really notice how it performed, didn't know any better.

Directly after we'd created some hilarious memories doing nearly everything there was to do in that game, I jumped onto Yakuza 0. This game has a lot less going on, so was able to run at 1080p60 I'd imagine, cos I noticed it was absolutely smooth as butter. It was around the time I bought a new tv too.

I then went back to Gta Online and honestly, it felt unplayable. The slowdown and dropped frames in the game when I was going at top speed in my Grotti RSX actually made me sad. I was like "this can't be the same game I was playing last month?". Didn't play it again until I got a Series X.

Having said that, I then was accidentally playing on fidelity settings instead of performance rt for about a week until my mate pointed it out. I was so thankful that the game was actually playable, that I didn't notice it was only running at a solid 30fps instead of the 60 it could do. So turns out I don't even know what I'm looking at half the time

So yeah you're absolutely right, in conclusion. I love games like Mega Man 2, and that slowed down to a standstill at times. Added to the charm! But I blame the ever-improving hardware for turning me into a graphics snob (edited)

Redfall hardly as any buzz surrounding it and the recent news of it being online only and 30fps at launch makes things worse. I don't know why MS don't learn. Just delay it until both those issues are fixed.

At least then the conversation will be about whether the game is worth playing and not about MS extending their record of being utterly incompetent.

Completely agree with this, the game is also out between two other big releases, new jedi and zelda. Its this type of game from Microsoft thats shows great promise only to fail due to numerous issues invluding release period.

Some people genuinely aren't sensitive enough to differences in the image to pick it up. If you don't believe me, understand that some people don't notice if the game's running in the wrong aspect ratio and the gamma is way off.

I'm not sure I'd be able to tell immediately between 30 and 60 on anything but OLED.

Game Pass sub has just become a big selection of games to play on cloud to earn rewards points while waiting for Zelda and - hopefully this year - Starfield. Playing God of War and replaying RDR2 on PC shows just how much real AAA releases are missed and for a good while now. (edited)

Blame people working from home etc for the last few years. Why a lot of big titles have released light on content or simply delayed and delayed. It sucks. 3 years into this gen and it's still supporting last gen .. that needs to go to stop holding titles back

Red Fall looks like it'll be a bit crap regardless of the framerate. Something about it just seems so meh, hope I'm wrong and it's fun in coop.

I'm willing to give Arkane the benefit of the doubt. I didn't adore Deathloop, but they haven't "missed" yet, so I've no reason to see why this would.

I'm not expecting glowing reviews though - It's going to disappoint some traditional Arkane fans, no doubt.

Its not looking promising sadly. Arkane are a great studio but they are very much on a downward trajectory. Deathloop was mediocre and Redfall looks gash quite honestly.

Depends on the TV you have but in all honesty, it's probably just better to wait until they patch in the 60fps mode. By then they'll likely have fixed most of the bugs as well. (edited)

I had a great time replaying Goldeneye earlier this year, thanks no doubt to its buttery smooth 12fps.

I actually have no interest in Redfall, but whilst I get the criticism, a good game is a good game. That said, I have no idea if it's actually good.
