sorted byI understand that people say it blossoms if you stick with it, and things click into place: but unfortunately there wasn't enough to make me stick with it. The graphics are primitive, gameplay doesn't feel particularly good, and the repetitive routine of getting into your ship and blasting off into space, then navigating to a planet each time you suffer an insta-death, doesn't feel like a good use of time to me. I get that it's an opinion, but the graphics are marvellous and the gameplay is first class - it's smooth, responsive and satisfying. As for the repetitive nature of of blasting off into space, that must happen once or twice a session (leaving your home and landing on a new planet) and the rest of the time is navigating each planet's very different conditions on foot or using your ship which is a joy in itself. You're almost immediately out of your spacecraft and exploring the worlds.
It's genuinely one of the finest games ever made. The DLC is a must if you do manage to finish the base game
Saying that, I'm glad I stuck with it. The narrative is wonderful and well worth seeing through. Heat
