Has been cheaper on epic games store but I have yet to see it cheaper for steam.

About this game

Crash-landing on an unknown planet is the least of your worries in the 'Overwhelmingly Positive' Steam rated sci-fi strategy sim RimWorld. With this Steam key, players will build a colony from the ground up, exploring dangerous terrain to gain research, recruit new colonists and fight alien lifeforms and opposing factions.
STORY GENERATOR

Witness the tragic, twisted, and triumphant stories that RimWorld throws at you through the AI Storyteller. Choose your storyteller and experience unique and random events featuring imprisoned pirates, desperate colonists, mass starvation, and survival of the fittest.
START SMALL, EXPAND

Turn your crew of crash-landed survivors into a vibrant colony by acquiring new people by any means necessary. Capture them in combat and force them to join your ranks if they want to survive, buy them from slave traders, or take in those willing to earn their keep in exchange for refuge
UNIQUE CITIZENS

Each individual that joins you will offer pros and cons to maintaining and expanding your colony. Choose a nobleman to recruit prisoners and negotiate trade prices, but be mindful that they will refuse to do physical work - choose a scientist to advance research, but expect them to perform social tasks well, or at all!

Watch on as your colonists determine how they will respond to other civilians - will they become starstruck lovers, marry the one, commit adultery, or fight like animals?
STUNNING WORLDS

See an awe-inspiring planet randomly generated from pole to equator. Decide where to crash land in a cold northern tundra, a parched desert flat, a temperate forest, or a steaming equatorial jungle. Each area has a variety of different animals, plants, and terrain as well as diseases, temperatures, mineral resources.

Form a caravan of people, animals, and prisoners and set out on a journey across the planet. Rescue kidnapped former allies from pirate outposts, attend peace talks, trade with other factions, attack enemy colonies, and complete other quests.

Pack up and move your colony as one big convoy and use rocket-powered transport pods to travel faster.
AT ONE WITH NATURE

Tame wild animals and turn them into lovable pets to help boost morale. Use farm animals for food and material supplies, and train beasts to attack your enemies. With everything from cats, dogs and chickens to grizzly bears, chinchillas and exotic alien lifeforms, players will find a variety of exotic wildlife.
MONITOR YOUR COLONY

Players' actions will have short and long-term effects on how the colony will respond and behave. Civilians who witness death, see unburied corpses or stay in the dark too long will feel disrespected, scared and anxious. High stress levels will result in fewer capable workers and the possibility of violent break-outs among your people.

Wounds, infections, prosthetics, and chronic conditions are tracked on each body part and will affect each character's capacities. Eye injuries make it hard to shoot or do surgery. Wounded legs slow people down.

Repair body parts with prosthetics ranging from primitive to transcendent. Go cheap and buy a wooden leg for your legless colonist to save money but slow the workforce down, or buy an expensive bionic leg to get them back in the fast lane.

Players can even extract, sell, buy, and transplant internal organs!

Because there is a LOT to it, this is a game that you can easily waste thousands of hours of your life to.

I pirated it at first, due to the high cost, over 200 hours later I own it and the DLC on Epic and just the base game on Steam (easier multiplayer mod use) and I've put lord knows how many hours in since then. Not every game is priced simply because it looks pretty, go pirate it for a bit and if it's your kind of game you'll quickly understand why it costs so much...

I will agree with anyone about the price of the DLC being a bit expensive though, I have them all and none of them add a great deal to the game (edited)

Mainly a single player game, and a great one at that.

Loads of good mods on the steam workshop too.

I thought you were going to do the classic steam review trope and be like "it's okay (5000+ hours)" (edited)

Yeah but you'll end up buying it anyway...

Source: I got it from the 7 seas, played it for like 200 hours and now I own it on both Epic and Steam plus DLC... it's a seriously good game

What a game. The only one I've played where I never expect to win, but losing is bloody good fun.

Just note that for mods you have to use RimPy and if you want to play multiplayer the host will need to know their way around a router.

Personally I just paid full steam price to save the effort of the faff in the end.
