We have negative bias. It stems from our primal brain seeking out danger in sensory patterns. Its what kept us alive when predators stalked our scent. Its what we call "gut instinct" when something doesn't seem right. It's invaluable.

It's also an absolute pain in the h0le for everyday life. Our world has changed so much over the centuries but our brains are identical. So we seek out the same dangers in new forms. The holiday is going to suck. I'm not good enough for her. It all comes from a place of "This is bad, time to go."

I haven't read this book. But I do experience a lot of negative thoughts mostly about myself. And I've learned neither to blindly heed the messages nor suppress them. But to listen and dismiss (unless for example I truly have done something bad). Same for negative thoughts about anything. Listen. Observe. Decide.

    This is good advice.

I think if anyone suffers from negative or intrusive thoughts, then this is a book I recommend this book: amazon.co.uk/Ove…1-1

You may initially read it and go 'none of these intrusive thought examples apply to me!' (some seem quite extreme), but keep reading, I think anyone can benefit from understanding how our negative thoughts can get 'stuck'. Unlike many self-help books, this has genuinely helped me.

How is a book supposed to make you stop thinking negatively? Nonsense.

Looks like it's produced by a PDF farmer if you click on the author's name. Probably just copy and pasted content from the web. You have to watch these amazon book deals, anyone can upload any old tripe.

You’re absolutely right. I’m voting cold for that reason. Some things aren’t worth being free even.

For some people the amount of negative thoughts is not normal, and they need help - this is who I would assume the book is for.

Great. A book on how to ignore important questions and thoughts for critical thinkers in order to not question anything. A perfect read for the weak of mind.

No that's an entirely false representation of this book, and who this book is targeted for. It literally has nothing to with critical thinking or not questioning anything that is an entirely separate topic. I suggest you read the title of the book again if you believe what you stated to be the case.

Also people with mental health issues are not weak minded, you also don't control your thoughts, but you can be trained in how you choose to react to thoughts.

I have no idea if the book is of any use but the de-facto standard treatments are CBT, ACT, DBT and Mindfullness and this book is most likely bottom of the barrel AI generated prose or poorly written as a marketing tool.

Go to the doctors and they will just stick you on anti-depressant drugs until you can get CBT, which at the current rate would be in the year 2042.

Then the CBT counsellor will be a trainee and you'll get 6 weeks of crap CBT support. Last time I went was about 7 or 8 years ago, they got me to fill in a form in the waiting room then I met the counsellor and he said oh you're just over the threshold for being treated so that's Goodbye then. NHS CBT crock of sh...
