    I like Seiko, got my first grown up watch out of the Argos catalogue when I was 15 but I could never drop £600 on one

    I suppose a lot of people see Seiko as a lower-end brand because their most commonly purchased watches are under £200(Seiko 5s mainly). I think most non-watch fans would be shocked that there are normal brand Seiko's available for £1k+, not including King/Grand Seiko of course.

    Seems to me that the plating will wear disproportionately on a sharp edge.

    I agree. It's infuriating that Seiko put so much effort into their presage line but choose to ruin most of them by adding a date function.
