The reason they have been reduced is because they were too expensive in the first place like all Heinz products. Shoppers waking up to the fact that they can buy equivalent own brand products a lot cheaper.

Or have moved to much better tomato ketchup from the smaller brands such as Sauce Shop/Tiptree/Stokes etc.

Are they allowed to sell out of date food? And yes, I know it's best before, but it takes ages to get through a bottle of ketchup.

When I spoke to the guy who served me, he said they're allowed to sell reduced price goods that are up to one month beyond their best before date. After that extra month, unsold items are destroyed.

Obviously use by dates are different and no retailer is allowed to sell anything beyond that date.

And I bought 6 bottles for myself - that'll be gone in a month and a half

Prefer Aldi's own ketchup myself but Heinz at less than 50p was a no brainer (edited)

Blame HUKD for this. My apologies though as the OP.

A bit too far out of date for me. Month and a half to two months tops in my personal experience when buying foods beyond their best before date. Beyond that, the food starts to degrade in quality - excluding tinned food which, in my experience, is OK after month 6 of expiry

I wouldn’t have it for free now. Heinz can do one, you reap what you sow.

I see people here suggesting the Aldi sauce is good but Asda better!? My closest store is Lidl where I’ve had their Batts sauce and I haven’t had a problem!? But Asda isn’t much further so I’ll give their home brand a go!? Can anyone tell me what it’s labelled as and how much it is!? Thanks in advance.

I decided to give Co-op ketchup a try (after reading this) - no need to give Heinz my money any longer!

Life long Heinz ketchup man here,
switched to hellmans ketchup when it was 99p in Asda,
No hellmans one day in store so I tried Asda and am now converted

Is the Asda branded one just labelled Asda own or does it have an “ASDA “ brand name!? Thanks in advance.
