    Excellent game.

Also worth mentioning is the free to play Zero K which is open source, free and based on the TA engine.

In addition, I've played Supreme Commander [Supcom] TAs successor for a number of years now with still a thriving online community and player base. Forged Alliance Forever faforever.com

Wrote this last time TA got posted. Still applies!

Well I never thought I'd see TA on here. I've played online since 2001 and still play it now. The best RTS of all time. It is still played online daily. There's also a balance mod made by the best players to improve all the useless units and fix bugs, called ProTA. It runs perfectly on Win10/11 now due to new patches. There's also a ladder and tournaments for cash every few months. Get involved!

    See you online!

It is a RTS like C&C, however the mechanics are very different.
I have had this for years, since it first came out.
Graphically it is looking dated but you can not go wrong at the price.

One thing I love in this is artillery is actually long range, the heavy cannons like the Big Bertha have a range of about 3 screens, though they are an energy hog.

Check out Beyond All Reason (BAR), it's a modern (free) re-implementation of TA with a more modern engine. It's a very faithful remake, which adds some nice new features/units. Performance is good, and handled an 8 player game with many thousands of units for 3 hours without any glitches.

This game absolutely revolutionised the RTS games and is still one the best game. For someone who like this another options would be Supreme Commander Forged Alliance, Beyond All Reason (completely free) and incoming Sanctuary store.steampowered.com/app…un/

Absolutely best game ever... Still great to play after all these years. My daughter loves it, started playing it when she was 10.

Great game. Used to play this online against a friend with modems in the 90s. I recently looked for a modern equivalent and found a gem, Ashes of the Singularity, which can be gotten cheap (Steam or Eneba). It's got the Total Annihalation vibe but not quite the nuances e.g. walking your commander into someone's base and nuking them out. (edited)

Check out Beyond All Reason as free and modelled on TA ….the AI is brutal

Amazing game back then and still today. Just shows how short a distance PC gaming has come in the last 25 years. Things might look better, but nothing plays anywhere near as well as TA, even today!

Love this game, when it was new I remember not being able to play the larger maps due to my computer not having the 16MB RAM required
Today's computer should be up to the job though

Classic game and absorbed so much time in the 90. Recommend checking out Forged Alliance Forever for mods or Beyond All Reason for a tribute game with loads of new stuff and maps

Anyone else build multiple transports to capture the enemy commander then blow them up?

    Best RTS of all time..

Is this different to the original? I remember buying TA (as I called it and looks like others did reading the above) back in 1998, think it was from Woolworths if I remember correctly. (edited)

It isn't going to win you over on graphics but game play is amazing. Be warned you'll spend hours playing it. Worth every penny for anyone considering buying this game.
