U-BOAT RAINBOW 44MM ORANGE IP BRONZE BRACELET

Pondered most of yesterday and finally ordered one this morning, not into rubber straps, so thought i'd
add a U-Boat to my 40 odd year collection

You need to have a look at YT vids, there are a few, LHD Well i'll give it a go and see how it feels / looks etc, can go back if any issues

Just remember on this oil filled job, a lot of U-Boat and Sinn watches the battery can be changed
without doing an oil change, battery compartment is separate, but not on this Ronda movement, this has a drain plug, oil can be put back in etc, i've done a few

I do all my own watch repairs so no issues, First Class have another for £650, but this bronze and orange
combo did it for me

Normally around £900

How does an oil filled watch work?

Same as a normal quartz watch but the case is full of oil. Originally cases got filled with oil to add extra compression resistance to deep dive watches but with a depth rating of 50m this one is purely cosmetic.

It makes the watch dial look quite cool tbf, like the glass is invisible at the expense of shorter battery life. There are trends for watch modders to add oil to the cases of various watches, the Casio Dura being a common contender as it's a 200m quartz dive watch for £50. Usually add a bit of closed cell foam inside the case to allow for temp changes instead of allowing an air bubble though.

This much money for a ronda movement and mineral crystal, that bubble will also give me motion sickness not for me (edited)

Yup. I'm glad we all have differing tastes, wouldn't the world be boring if we didn't but this seems a bit gimmicky, reminds me of a child's toy

I watched 3 videos yesterday, the one I posted looks even better, all bronze

With the filled Capsoil, it's stunning to wear, you will get more questions and comments if you like that kind of stuff with this rather than something at 10 times the price, not sure how many they have at this price hence I ordered before posting the deal

Gorgeous watch. 44mm would look like a dinner plate on my puny wrist though.

These wear massive as it's all dial and no bezel. If you can pull it off then smashing.

Love the airbubble in there. On one pic i thought "whay have the added a cyclops to the 1 o'clock spot?"....then realised it was the bubble

Some Sinn never had the bubble, has set all the U Boats off for many years, I'll see if it gets noticed more than a Sub, G-Shock, Datejust or Oris

I'm not sure what's funnier, £890 RRP for a quartz movement, or "Water Resistance 50 metres" U-BOAT..

When you've over 100 watches and only one wrist to wear them on, 2813 3 quid movements and 20 quid NH35 movements don't matter any more 🤪

I do like these, but I think i'd rather pay the extra for the newer version that has a separate battery compartment so you don't need to drain and refill.

Lovely looking watch though imo. The fact it's an oil filled watch lets me get over the fact it's quartz based for this sort of money tbh - especially when you consider a mechanical oil watch is around the £20k mark (Ressence ) if you can even get hold of one...! (edited)

I have a very early u-boat and it’s one of my favourite watches to wear. It’s a bit battered now but had it so long.

You will have to send this in for a battery change.

I've done all my repairs and builds for 40 years, I mentioned all this in the description, this model is not for everybody, it's an easy change if you use a syringe for the capsoil all goes back in perfectly etc after the battery change

    Watch for left-handed?

Most U-Boats have the winder on the left, i'm right handed and it's been on all day (On my left hand)

The one in first class watches is a 38mm seems to have more of the rainbow effect from what I've seen in photos. Plus 10% off. So £585. (edited)
