Times must be hard if the kids are having pet food ...

Anybody tried them? These any good in real world use?

    I have THESE from Halfords,
    covers 1.2 x 1.8m for £10.

this one is double the price and covers less than 1sq/m, effectively four times the cost per sq/m

ive had the Halfords floor guards for about 4 years and they are very good for the pric

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Halford ones are dense foam.

The costco ones are hard surface. Not comparable at all.

I have them in my garage, gym and shed. Bought secondhand off eBay. Excellent to maintain and when you drop tools no damage unlike if you left the concrete and just sealed or painted it. Can jack car up and it returns to original texture. Just be mindful of tyres transferring the black pigment to them if you leave your car in same spot for any length of time. (edited)

I’d love to do something like this but what puts me off is getting all of the crap out of my garage in order to lay the stuff. The half and half method may work for me.... however lots of stuff would need to come out my garage to be able to do even that. I’ve got too much crap! I blame HUKD

To see how well it wears, glue a couple of offcuts to a pair of old trainers and walk around for a bit. Report back in a few days.

Just to add another voice - these aren't even remotely the same thing. I've actually had these Halfords foam tiles down in my garage for years and while they did the job (i.e. I didn't have to walk about on a damp, concrete floor), they are not at all durable and completely unsuited to anything where you need to put load down (e.g. a car). I've even managed to tear mine up a bit just from bike maintenance!

Horses for courses and for many, the foam tiles would be fine (and are better than bare concrete any day!) but they are not a comparable product with those in the deal, so any price comparison is pretty meaningless.

I believe this is the new product from EcoTileFlooring. I have their previous product (the 7mm PVC tiles) in my garage, and it's superb, but expensive (cost around £700 for 45m2)

It's not a soft surface, but it's suitable for parking cars on and is easily cleanable

Easy to install, but not so easy to cut the tiles. Great if your garage floor is concrete - it completely removes the problem of dusty floors and insulates too. Insulation shouldn't be underestimated - makes it less likely you'll get condensation on your car/tools and makes it much more pleasant to spend long periods in the garage

Would recommend this - and would say it's a much better investment than epoxy painting your garage floor - which is messy and still leaves you with a cold floor

Very good price, these are very similar to the ones used by Garage Style who fit out alot of spaces for celebrities and companies, they charge around £28 per square meter meaning this is a bit of a bargain.

When I moved to our house the first thing I did was paint the garage floor (best thing I did to stop the dust) and now I also use those kids foam mats across the whole floor. Works a great, comfy to walk on, easy to clean, colourful, floor not damaged!

Not sure that £18 is that much cheaper than £20/sqm! A bit cheaper, perhaps...

I've ordered a few samples from different places. So far, got the ecotiles (Costco) ones and Dynotile, but still waiting on the plasfloor.

Currently, the Costco ones are winning hands down (more robust, heavier duty, nicer materials), but let's see what comes of the plasfloor ones. (edited)

    Full set of samples in:
44235174.jpgDynotiles (top right) don't float my boat (hard plastic and far less robust feeling) and the Plasfloor (bottom) and Costco (top left) ones are very similar in material, except that the costco ones are much thicker for only marginal extra cost.

Costco it is, then. £600 dropped and see how we go... (edited)

This is the new laminated wood flooring for sure.

Seriously though - garage floor tiles are not overly expensive and will outlive laminate many times over. Easy to fit and the adhesive is the most expensive part. This is especially true if you know of any new car dealerships opening up soon - go and ask the contractors for the left overs.

Brilliant!!! Had them down for about 4 years in a double garage where we park 2 cars, you do get dark spots off tyres but if it bothers you you can always remove those ones and replace, never bother me in the slightest, very easy to brush down too

I installed PVC tiles exactly like this in my garage a year ago and they are fantastic.

my garage floor is rough poured concrete and was always dusty ( not ideal as we use half of it as a laundry room )

I looked at all my options - screed, paint, vinyl floor, carpet, ceramic tiles, foam tiles / hard plastic tiles ( Swiss tracks ) and then PVC tiles. To me the obvious winner was PVC tiles as I could remove all my garage stuff onto the drive, lay the floor and then put it all back the same day.

we now have a garage floor that looks smart, is practical ( can be hoovered and mopped easily ) and will basically last forever. It cost me £400 to do our floor and I went with DURAMAT - duramat.co.uk/pro…60/

I will say that these tiles ( even through they are 7mm ) are incredibly tough to cut ( no chance with a Stanley knife, even with a good blade ) I ended up using my circular saw ( which worked amazingly well )as mad as that sounds. You can get a guillotine for the job, but they aren’t worth investing in for the average DIYer. (edited)
