Doesn't seem to be a bad price with their reduction. Not sure of quality of roof material but reviews don't seem bad. Smaller 12ft x 12ft is also reduced.

We ended up with one of those aluminium pergolas but did look at this one.

I'm so glad we changed. You can have full sun block out and it's waterproof. So reading a book out in the garden all day is easy. Even if it rains, which it has done recently it still nice to sit out and the rain tinkling sound reminds me of caravan holidays as a youth.

You can even sit out in a downpour although I'm not sure what the neighbours would think. It does cost more but you definitely get more.

Not tried thunderstorms, not sure what lightning and metal structures would do to my heart rate

The canopy on this one isn't waterproof

I have this exact pergola and it's good for the money. It's reasonably solid, looks good and is maintenance free. The holes in the canopy are tiny and it gives a good level of shade from direct sunlight. It's not been subjected to any strong winds yet but you would definitely need to retract the canopy if it was going to be windy. I really don't think the canopy would need to be removed for any reason and you would need to partially dismantle the pergola to do this anyway. It's definitely a 3 person job to build it and took us about 8 hours in total. The instructions are clear except for missing out the stage where you attach the runners for the canopy to the cross beams.

50410390-LsdGc.jpgI made one out of wood 3.6m X 3.6m for about £200 and very satisfying to know that you've built it from scratch 😁

I've put in 90 metres of 2ft fence panels and sprayed them, I don't fancy any more wood and maintenance! I also like the idea of some shading too.

In all seriousness I am ordering one! Been watching these for a while and was going to get one with a solid roof but I think it would be too overpowering at this size!

In conservation areas, beware of nosy neighbours...

It's quite stylish and just bang under the dreaded 2.4m... (edited)

Bargain. I'm going to get 3 of these for the east and west wings of the house.

Two for me, on the lower and upper sedum-covered flat roofs of my house.
After further consideration, make it three, for the morning sun too 😄

    Hot (edited)

Nice. Shame the canopy isn’t waterproof.

I don't believe even the gazebos or sun shelters with solid roof say they are waterproof either. I'm more worried about it fading etc. I wonder if it can be washed/cleaned or even removed?

The roof is useless for sunshade as it has little holes so sunlight gets through around 70%.
Ours also use to get stuck when sliding it. You need to remove it in the bad weather months as stated in instructions which is a pain in the butt. I'd personally avoid. Need few people to put it together and also remove the roof cover.
When it's windy the cover can keep opening and closing itself. Not the best of designs. (edited)

Oh thanks for this, is it the same one? What is the material?

These look great, I just feel the gazebos might be a better buy considering our usual weather for 90% of the year..
