Well done, but those points are dated Dec 28th, so must be from a previous deal?
This Nectar deal started on Jan 5th.

The other being making two separate purchase of at least £5 to earn 500 points. Not sure which would one would apply first if I made just one purchase of £5, the 1000 points from this offer or it qualifying as the first of two purchases for 500 points? No idea why eBay/Nectar run two separate offers for one account at the same time? I’ve seen this happen before! I’ve unsaved the 500 points offer as that is not as good.

Chances are the least points offer gets selected. There was a similar clash during Black Friday when the 50x offer came up - I had to be super careful to not choose whatever was the other offer. (edited)

I would say buy anything what you would buy anyway. If it shows you should get your normal points, the bonus points will add automatically.

Whenever there is an offer like this, for example 3x, 4x, etc., the bonus points show up on the item listing when I am logged in. I am not seeing anything today. Also, when I go through the link in the app and log in to eBay, it takes me to the eBay Nectar page for my account but not the usual "your offer is activated / you are now eligible for 1000 bonus points" or something like that.

For once the offer was on Nectar for me. Sainburys however have ended their double up events which is a jolly bad show by them.

Well.. same as everybody... have this offer on Nectar website but clicking through does nothing.... will try again tomorrow.. if still nothing i guess i will have to remove my nectar card from ebay and re-link again.... had similar same issue Black Friday with their 50x points offer, re-linking nectar account fixed it last time....

    This deal really annoys me.

I’m not a thick person but what is an ‘eligible item’?! There’s nothing on eBay to identity what an eligible item is. I want to make use of the deal as it’s on my nectar account but know full well that if I buy something, I probably won’t get the points as it wasn’t eligible!

Don't forget the fact that they confuse spending £5 or more "on any eligible item" with spending "a minimum of £5 eBay"

It's all part of the fun!

Is it one £5+ item? Is it 12 smaller items totalling £5+? Does it include postage? What does eligible mean? Should it be showing my bonus points at checkout? What does nectar even mean? Why is it purple? Why does eBay have a capital B?!

If you activate multiple offers, Ebay will apply the most generous offer.
It says so in Ebay's T&Cs for Nectar offers.

With the 5x and 50x offers you refer to on Black Friday, I activated both offers, and Ebay very kindly applied the 50x offer instead of the 5x offer.
It was very clear what offer they were applying by the number of points calculated in the basket prior to checkout.

    cheekster05/01/2022 10:23

Same. I didn’t activate the less attractive offer at the time.

The fact that practically no one here has successfully managed to activate the offer and buy anything tells us the problem is on Nectar's side. I'd advise not buying anything at all unless you were going to anyway. Nectar are usually clueless when it comes to these offers and always give you different answers. Bottom line is though that you'll likely be given nothing if you buy without activating the offer first. The link is clearly broken.

The way I read it is that everything on eBay is eligible - on this occasion it just needs to be over £5. The T&C's seem like a bit of a catch-all for all the various Nectar and eBay promotions.

I have a growing list of instances where I didn’t receive the bonus points I was due. Phoned Nectar previously who said I needed to contact Sainsburys. Went in-store and Customer Services told me that they couldn’t do anything and only Nectar could manually add the points. Passed from pillar to post!

Will phone Nectar again to try and sort things out.

Super annoying though, if you offer a promotion why should a customer have to repeatedly chase up the company to receive what was promised?! (edited)

According to the Nectar Rewards terms and conditions, the bonus points will be displayed before you make the purchase:

    "1.2 Bonus offers

From time to time you may see bonus points displayed on the view item page. This means that you are eligible for a Nectar bonus offer. The bonus points displayed on the view item page are accurate for the respective item only and will be subject to time restrictions.

Usually with these offers you need to activate them before purchasing which is why it's not showing at checkout. It seems the link is broken as it just takes you to the standard Nectar eBay page instead of the "offer activated page". Going to wait to see if they fix it first, there is still 5 days left of the offer.
