Berghaus Hillmaster GTX II didn't fill me with confidence. £175 RRP Now.

Owned for nearly 2 years and only wearing for dog walking across common paths and football fields twice daily in winter, not in summer, around 5 miles total.

My Clarks causal Chukka boots which I got for £42 lasted longer.

If you're looking for a replacement I highly recommend the Karrimor Brecon KSB high or the Karrimor Brecon low. I just purchased the high for £65 plus delivery over the weekend after owning the low, both in brown, since summer 2018. The heavily worn (as in on my feet) low is bulletproof. Proper premium pair of walking shoes. Made in Italy. Apart from nubuck fade it would be very difficult to tell my shoes are 41 months old. Glue and stitching are still intact. They are still structurally as sound since day one, and I'm not exaggerating.

First impressions are the high are just as solidly built as the low. Very impressive shoes. I only bought the high because I wanted, not needed, another low but saw the high was £20 less and I perceived I was getting more shoe for my money.

Reading off the high's label it has:

    Cordura fabric
    2.0-2.2mm Waterproof Nubuck
    Weathertite extreme
    Pu midsole for cushioning
    Vibram outsole
    24 month guarantee

Only downside is you can only purchase from the arguably undesirable Sports direct and their affiliates so no way of avoiding that very scummy £4.99 delivery, and you have to pay for returns.

I'm sure any 6 digit number works with the Go outdoors ordering system, I've always used 000000 and never had a problem, I totally refuse to actually spend £5 on a rip off discount card I'll never actually use plus why should i be expected to pay them money to be able to spend my money in their stores?

I’m a 9.5 in shoe size so any idea if I should get a 9 or 10? Thanks

Best to go bigger for the option of wearing thick hiking socks. Also you can always put insoles in them.
If you go down a size, you risk them being too small and you cant make boots bigger.

Appears to be only 9,11 and 12 available!

if you're needing a different size, check back later today/tomorrow, as some ppl may have cancelled orders

I know my original order, I didnt apply the jan10 code, so re-ordered and have requested the original to be cancelled (though sizes 11 and 12)

Karrimor have for a long time been wholly owned by Sports Direct and, frankly, produce mostly cheap rubbish. Glad you had a result, but they are definitely not "proper premium walking shoes" or even anything close.

I have hill master 2 and mine have done exactly the same after a year. Same places Show similar wear although mine aren’t at this stage yet but they’re not far off. Can these be re- soled with another sole. The uppers are faultless but the soles are absolutely garbage. Not very good or what you’d expect from a Vibram sole!

Looks like very assymetrical wear on the inside sole, might be related to gait like over pronation? Or just bad construction? (edited)

Bought one, normally go with 10.5, but 11 is too large on this pair and went with 10. I guess it is good for everyday walking and so on, but not good enough for hiking if you go for moderate level.

Usually go for Scarpa GTX's, as they're guaranteed to fit my awkward narrow feet. Downside is they only last 18 to 24 months before the leather splits (tried all the usual waxes, etc).

Tried some Berghaus similar to these, and just couldn't get along with them size wize (tried my usual size and the next one above). Seemed nice boots.

Are Karrimor boots OK for narrow feet?
