As others said, a small mirror in the armrest compartment helps.
If you leave it parked and connected to a live socket, for some reasons it stops recording after a while and starts again when you move.
Tried setting it to continuous recording but no difference. When in motion though, it never failed to record.
The wire is just about long enough for my car; it's thin so it can be easily tucked away in the car trims.
I had no problems whatsoever connecting my phone to it and downloading footage.
The images are ok, not the best and at night you can't really see number plates unless very close.
But I have it in case of accident to prove my innocence having been scammed once, so it serves me well.
I wasn't sure about the electrostatic film to attach it to the windscreen, but it works, so there will be no glue to clean up if one day i remove it.
Mine came with english language pre-installed.
Picture quality is good could be a bit brighter in night . I normally just edit
it via iPhone app and Brighten up the video/pic. The picture is a screen shot of video that I have edited and brightened
You will need a CLASS 10 Sd card for this camera
Be careful, it's just a small capacitor which keeps the unit running for another 20-30 seconds after the power cuts off. I've not had mine record when parked etc unless you connected it to a usb power brick maybe first that then charged when driving
Easy to run the cable, I've tucked mine behind the rubber seal up the door frame.
Decent for the price, though do wish the led notification was on opposite side, would be ok if we drove on opposite side of the road though I guess, I've att a small mirror to reflect the led colour back to be in the driving seat as occasionally it's red not green which I wish would notify me via audio but it doesn't, might just be an SD card issue.
Be aware the app takes forever to sync recordings, though I've found this with most dash cams, think they must just use the cheapest wi-fi chips they can find. (edited)
It's designed to run for up to 20 minutes after parking. I guess you could wire the camera to a permanent 12volt battery feed, but it would gently flatten the starter battery 24/7. Workable for a car used regularly but not really advisable. I have this model and it's good. I set it to announce in words when it starts recording - a reassuring check at the beginning of each journey. (edited)
Apologies, the 1S doesn’t have parking mode recording, it’s the m300 which has the parking mode recording.
According to the 70mai website it’s not ADAS compatible, the m500 is but that’s about twice the price. (edited)
Every phone I've had doesn't like connecting to the WiFi hotspot it puts out as it recognises that there is no internet connection, so you have to reconnect every 30 seconds. None oft he voice commands worked for me as it's aimed at a foreign market.
Eventually it needed the SD card reformatting every month, and as there is no screen I started to get paranoid that it wasn't doing anything.
If you want something cheap and cheerful buy the kitvision camera from Amazon.

Pretty sure that this one does not have parking mode
No once mounted to the windscreen/rear window it can only be moved up and down once the screw is loosened.
On my previous cad I had this on the rear and it kinda got in the way of the rear view. Recently changed car and moved this to the front (the old front one was on its last legs) and it’s much better there.

I think the way forward is with these brands - Xiaomi being one of the best value for money choices.
I’m not convinced that most 4K cams offer better number plate recognition. A decent sensor in a 1080p camera together with a fair processor can do the job.
That's what the battery is for otherwise it would just run off the 12v.
2. How easy is it to run the cable?
Why not just plug in the SD card into a laptop and download directly?
I've just watched sample footage on YouTube. Not bad. The pro version is 4k, but will set you back much more especially if you get GPS module. Might be worth better footage incase of an accident
You could yeah, more effort though and I'm lazy lol. But yeah you have options, and tbh it'll hopefully be so rare that you'll need to do it that is negligible.

Had this for about 8 months, no issues with it. quality is good, always records without a failure. One annoyance i have is the software it uses, you have to wait whilst the Bluetooth transfer is going, cant even minimise the app! get around would be to move the sd card but i was lazy! - i bought a fuse adapter from ebay that way it always turned on automatically and the cable was hidden also.
Thinking of buying one. What size SD do you use?
My current rear dash cam can be rotated. So when I reverse park I rotate the camera to face the car interior. But it's on its way out so need a replacement

Thanks mate. I've got a 4K action cam in the front. But I'm getting a new car this year. My Xiaomi rear cam is failing. The 4K cam does move so I could move it to the rear, but then I'd need to get another quality camera for the front.
I might just wait for the gitup F1 to go available again. 4K for £75 few years ago when I got it was brilliant.
